    Coffee Question

I get it with skim milk (lattes or cappuccinos) and they top it off with cinnamon for me. It's pretty good. Haven't tried the sugar-free creamers; I used to be a peppermint mocha addict, but the sugar-free syrups just taste gross to me. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Seafood?

I think I was a month out before they released me to eat shrimp and other shellfish. But once they said yes ... I eat it a few times a week now. It's great Protein. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    For women only

First period since surgery on Aug. 19. Not to be indelicate, but it's like a crime scene. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  4. I think my reaction to finding out I had gained 5lbs in the hospital was, "WHAT THE F**K?" Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  5. I had surgery Aug. 19, went from an 18/20 to a 14 and this past week the 14s are getting too loose--I can take off my favorite jeans without unbuttoning/unzipping them. Yay new jeans. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Coffee Question

I didn't give up coffee because my surgeon said coffee is fine for me. I have cut way back because it doesn't taste the same to me. I'll hit a Cappuccino a few times a week tho... Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Count down on...

Let's find one that runs through campus! The changes there are crazy! Did you hear Norris is coming down??? Did you know it now has a Starbucks AND a dunkin donuts???? Go Cats!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'd be inclined to run my ass over to Buffalo Joe's and get an order of cheddar chips. I haven't been back to campus in years--I'd love to see how it's changed. And Starbucks? Holy hell.

    Cheese post-op

Feta and nonfat or low fat goat cheese are also allowed by my nutritionist. I like the Babybels a lot, they come in various flavors now (had a gouda with lunch yesterday) but I think you have to wait a few more weeks on those. Also, the Laughing Cow wedges are good. I haven't had any issues with cheese. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Count down on...

I'm debating running the half-length of the Big Sur Marathon with a friend, who's kind of hinted around me doing it with her. I think I have five months to prepare for it ... the thought of it does make me nervous as hell tho. Good luck on your run and Go Cats! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  12. That's a really tough question. Your story is compelling and you've been through so much and come out great on the other end, and you should be proud of that. But in terms of sharing your journey with the thought that someone might want to take the same trek may be presumptuous. In terms of the customer (or future customers) maybe you can approach it by asking them how the dress makes them feel? I.e., "I want you to feel good in this dress, so tell me how you feel in this dress..." And if they open the door by saying, "Great, I just wish I weighed less," then feel welcome to step through it and share your story. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Lack of PROTEIN!

Is that something you can get at the grocery? Haven't seen them yet, would be interested to try them. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  14. My surgeon said no restrictions on coffee, save for not adding real sugars or anything but nonfat milk. I have a few cups a week, usually a non-fat latte or Cappuccino, but I'm mostly living caffeine free. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  15. I'm waiting to hear back from my doc's office on this, but figured I'd crowdsource here too. They started me out on chewable Multivitamins, but the taste squicks me out. For my B Vitamins, I use a liquid from the pharmacy. Did anyone transition from chewables to the patch vitamins and how has that worked out for you? Thanks in advance for any insights you can offer. Good or Bad Idea ?

I talked to my phys assistant yesterday and she said no go on switching from chewables to the Patches. The patches have only been around a year, she said, and so far the companies haven't produced any scientific papers showing the efficacy of the patches. And they're refusing to share research with doctors who ask for it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Yeah, popcorn is a bad idea, although I confess I licked the salt off of a few kernels at a movie a few weeks back. Popcorn?? Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

  22. I have a handful of nice pieces size 18-20 that no longer fit me and I'd like to find them a good home. Included are a JJill "big" linen shirt in a French blue; a white cotton Eileen Fisher button down shirt with a banded collar; a slouchy EF linen jacket with pockets in Navy blue. I also have a few Lane Bryant Ts (green and blue, if I'm remembering correctly). I'd like to send these all to one location, in a batch. Please hit me with a direct message if you'd like to have these. Cheers all. ETA: If more than one person responds by Saturday noon PST, I'll put the names in a hat and draw someone at random. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  23. How about you send me your email address, or click on my name and send me your real address privately? And as I said, I'll wait until noon tomorrow to get requests and then pick a name out of a hat and mail the clothes to that person. Sound ok? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

Plain Water, but has to be ice cold. I throw a couple of half-filled bottles in the freezer every day, then top them off with filtered water from the frige door when I'm ready to drink it. I have a bottle next to me or with me when I'm out and about. I'll have an occasional Cappuccino (maybe twice a week) with skim milk. Pre-workouts, I throw some Fairlife skim milk (ultra filtered, high Protein, very clean taste) in the blender with a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt, a few drops of coconut or vanilla extract, a few ice cubes and either a single frozen strawberry or a few slices of banana.

    So scared!

Ah yes, the "you're not heavy enough for this surgery" shtick from insurance. I had an underlying condition or three (massive hiatal hernia, esophageal stricture and a gaping valve) and so I didn't have to go through that part (gaining so I can lose). I started at a 2x. I hope they don't force you to gain weight--maybe your doc can talk them into it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
