  2. @@Dairymary that's good that you found your therapist to be helpful. Glad to hear that you're doing better. I still need to schedule my appointment with a therapist Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. @@Sai i've heard two different things from two different surgeons about the pre-op diet. Exactly what is it? I've heard that it's only Protein shakes and liquids. Another surgeon said Protein Shakes and small meals and Protein Bars. Did you eat actual food during pre-op or just liquids? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Oh man you guys are so amazing. Each post is putting me at ease. Thank you all! @@Dairymary @@Bufflehead @ @jessee10616 and everyone else to come. Would you all recommend seeing either the psychologist or the dietician regularly post op or is that not necessary? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. @ it's great that you don't have those fears anymore and you're proof that it can be done. And the weight can stay off. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. @@Bufflehead thank you!!! That's exactly what i wasn't sure about. I know i can do it but i know it's going to be hard. At the end of the day, how we're deciding to lose weight is different from most people so how we stay on track will be different too. It's sounds ok to hear but i'm sure once i actually am in that stage i'll know just how hard it is to maintain my new lifestyle. The no cheat meals will be hard for sure. I think for me personally i'm going to meet with my dietician a few times after my surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. @@Bufflehead that's not bad at all. I can handle 6 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. @@hbrhonda surprisingly that was the one thing i never even thought about. But i'm sure i will right after my surgery. @@Icantbelieveit oh wow, so it wasn't the types of food you were eating, just the portions that were causing anxiety? For me i think it will be a huge adjustment to realize that i can longer have some of my favorite foods. Because i just don't need them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. Sorry for the late reply guys. (It's finals week for me) I read every single one of the responses from everyone and it's so comforting to see how everyone dealt with telling people around them. It made it easier for me for sure. So thank you all so much!!! I will say it's good to know that almost everyone (even those who chose to be more private) had an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and support from loved ones. I think if anything that would make it easier to stay on track with your journey. I'm still struggling with how private i want to be in terms of telling people close to me. This may sound crazy but part of me is so excited about this journey that i almost feel like i can't keep my mouth shut about it with certain friends, because i know they will support me 100%. But there are others who i would prefer not to tell even if they do already know. I think for me it's more than just respecting my privacy, i think it's also because the surgery is just a tool for me. I know i'm going to work my butt off in the gym and i don't want certain people judging me or thinking that i took the easy way out, when it's anything but. I also am afraid of people treating me differently after losing weight. (That was such a long response, i apologize) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  13. Hi guys, I'm jay. I'm just starting my wls journey. I've interviewed several amazing doctors in my area. But i'm still struggling to decide what surgery option is best for me. I'm torn between the sleeve and gastric bypass. One dr. Recommended the sleeve for me, and another recommended the bypass. So with that said i wanted to hear from everyone. How did you decide which surgery was best for you? If you're already post op what side effects did you have, if any? I just want to know exactly what to expect. Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this and answer any of my questions. Best of luck to all of you on your journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. Omg that's so awesome!!! I hope you know how much your post just helped me. @@ShelterDog64 i have one friend who is now looking into it because i'm about to have my surgery soon. And i have one much larger friend who probably will distance herself from me after i lose the weight. But i guess that's just life. At the end of the day i have to do this for myself. 17. For post op people: What supplements have you been taking after your surgery? I've heard that some people have to now incorporate a hair skin and nail Vitamin, what else should i consider? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. @@Smdnght28 i went to a wls seminar and they said that in the end you losr the same amount of weight with both procedures. They said that some people with bypass start to regain some of the weight and some people with the sleeve continue to lose weight so it balances out. ( i hope that helps) For me at least, i'm terrified of dumping syndrome so i'm not sure about bypass. Do you know when you're going to have your surgery yet? I say trust your gut, if you think the sleeve is better for you, do some more research and consider that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  20. @@gowalking yeah you're definitely right. Even though many of my friends struggle with their weight just like i do, they all tend to judge me because i'm smaller than them. Even though i'm still clearly very overweight. I just hope they realize my body and eating habits will change but i'm still the same person. And i would never want them to feel uncomfortable in their own skin simply because i'm making a change. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
