pattycaketoo got a reaction from Canis28 in Real Good Pizza Co
So I purchased some of these today from a store called total nutrition. You can also order them online but only in cases. I ate one for dinner and it was really good! It's the perfect size. The crust is chicken breast with Parmesan cheese!

My surgeon prescribed mine and yes it is covered by insurance, however the syringe isn’t. I pay $.25 a month for one.

pattycaketoo reacted to jhope71 in Why is "unused" stomach and small intestines left in, in gastric bypass
The unused part of the stomach still produces acid and stuff to help digest food. It reconnects down lower in your intestines to help digest the food that goes through your pouch. And like others said, it still produces hormones, though I'm not sure that's the main reason it's left. I think it's there to improve digestion, since your pouch alone doesn't make enough acid to do the job. That's the way my surgeon explained it, at least.

To be honest, my heart breaks for them. Their Dr's, have to fight for them by submitting every bit of medical documentation they have. Believe it or not, those Dr's speak for the member and have been table to get PA's approved/ overturn denials. Sadly, those who abuse it, ruin it for those who need it.

pattycaketoo got a reaction from zallykatz16 in Anthem
I live in Texas and have this insurance, initially I was told 3 months, it turned out to be 6 months with the first visit not counting so it was 7 months. It all depends on what the company chooses.

pattycaketoo got a reaction from TS76 in Surgery Around the Holidays
I had my surgery on 11/14/16, I was on the puréed stage at Thanksgiving. It wasn't a problem for me as I had no appetite at all. I just took my nutri bullet with me and weighed out my portions to equal 2-4 ounces. It bothered others more than it bothered me because they felt bad for eating regular food and larger amounts.

You can always let it go flat. That's what I do with diet ginger ale to get the flavor. No judging here [emoji4]

I'm in Rosenberg. I had the bypass in November 2016. Best thing I have ever did for myself. Just had my 6 month check up and I'm good for a year. No complications at all!

I just had the ones that would inflate and deflate in intervals. Once I was up walking I didn't have to use them.

For me it was/is (simple) carbs. Sweets don't really tempt me at all.
I had mashed potatoes a couple times and I regret that now. IMO the particular danger with carbs in addition to the addiction principles, is the fact that it passes so easily in our sleeve. So you can eat more of that than you can of "real" food, and it doesn't really keep you full.
Still, I refuse to beat myself up about it- it happened, I am human, and I will remain positive and try my best not to let it happen again. And if it happens- oh well, my body will likely punish me for it and that punishment is sufficient.
I think everyone has to figure out things for themselves and for some of us that requires trial and error. I've had to throw up a couple times to figure out what my limits are in terms of quantity of food. In some cases, for certain foods, that is LESS than the doctor allows. We are all different- what works for me may not work for you, "it takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world!"

pattycaketoo reacted to RickM in Preoperative liquid diet
Follow your doc's instructions and don't read things into them that may not be there based upon what other people do - some docs don't want their patients fasting for weeks leading up to surgery.
If you want to get a jump start on things, by all means integrate Protein Drinks into your routine, trying different ones, including the clear ones, to see which you like or at least tolerate Then keep the rest of your diet to leaner meats and green vegetables, minimizing your carbohydrate intake - that will do as much good as any liquid diet without the side effects. And rejoice that you don't have one of those docs who like multi-week/month liquid diets.

I haven;t used anything on my scars and they have faded considerably after two years. Honestly, these scars are better than the stretch marks that I have in terms of fading
