  1. Thanks a million. I'm still a baby at this. I also think I don't chew enough, which was a problem even before I got the band. You are right that stewed meats work pretty well. I will concentrate on stewed meats, fish (which has worked pretty well), fruits and veggies. It's funny that I can't eat a piece of bread but I can eat raw veggies with no problem. O f course that's a good thing!

  2. If you can get your insurance to pay for it, go that route. Why?

    - They will pay for complications and they may not if you get it done in Mexico.

    - You are likely to have your fills covered, and they might not be if you get it done in Mexico.

    - Even if your Mexico doc covers fills after the surgery, you still have to get to Mexico to get them done.

    - If you have an immediate need you have a doc to go to. I don't.

    - They likely have a support group or other ways of supporting you. While on-line is nice, it isn't the same as having a live person to talk to.

  3. I know what you mean. We've all gone through so much to get this far. It is a huge step to get the band and after going to the extreme of surgery no one wants to mess it up! You didn't stretch anything. Just go slow. Are you sure you're supposed to be having fiber??

  4. My tummy was growling too. It can be gas. Or keep in mind that in a way you have 2 stomachs now and the gas has to pass between both of them before getting where it is going. I also had a lot of hunger pangs after my surgery. Oh, and congrats!

  5. I was banded the end of February and had one fill in April. 1.2 cc in a 4cc band. If I eat certain foods like bread or things not chewed well they stick right away and cause lots of pain and I have PB'd several times. BUT...if I eat soft foods like cottage cheese, yogurt, Soup, refried Beans, etc I can eat a LOT! They don't stay in my pouch at all and run right through. I went to Mexican restaurant and easily ate a whole chili relleno, refried beans, rice (which I try to avoid), and chips and salsa. No problem. But it seems like it should be a problem! I read about people who eat 3-4 bites and they are full. Not me! Do I need another fill? I'm not that experienced yet so please give me your advice.

  6. I have been struggling for about a month now. I have been eating fatty foods and a lot os sweets. I have been under a lot of pressure and have had a hard time coping. And for the first time I am having a LOT of head hunger. I'm eating chips, Cookies, nachos, cookies, icecream, cookies, cakes, cookies and cookies too. And I've been PBing a lot more than ususal. I feel sick tonight from all the sugar I have eaten. And I feel guilty. I have only been able to work out once this week and now I have gained 2 pounds. I'm not doing well. I think I need another fill, but I do'nt have the $$ right now. Pray that God will give me strength to overcome my head hunger. Tomorrow is always a new day, right?? :hurt :pout: :noidea: :cake: :funscale:

  7. I thought I posted on this but maybe I didn't! I went along and it was a big mistake. I used a different surgeon, so maybe my experience was different. The hospital staff was nice and so was the doc, but you need family there. I never saw another lapband patient (or any other patient) and didn't talk to anyone to was going through my experience while I was there. So you can't count on that. My return flight was oversold and I was diverted to Mexico City and had to take 2 airlines to get home - and I don't speak Spanish. It was a nightmare. If I had someone with me, ti would have been much better. I was in agony and seriously dehydrated. Don't go alone.
