    Greetings from sunny Darwin!

Hi @ShinyLady. Not long now for the new you ? I've been in Singers for 10 years. I'm originally from the U.K. I went onto solid foods after two weeks.,I can eat most things but only small quantities. I'm lucky in some respects but need to watch that I don't drift back to bad foods Is your surgeon in Darwin? If so ask if he can put you in touch with other patients.,mine did and I keep in touch with a girl that had her op a month before me. We're meeting for (mini) lunch on Thursday. Don't spend any money on clothes now. It will be wasted as they wont fit you soon Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I was a 30 BMI. I lost a lb a day for the first 22 days then stalled a bit then lost 1-2lbs a week for the last 6 weeks. I'm praying it continues I'm 25lbs down so about halfway Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I started with a lower BMI also so seeing a pound a week loss only 9 weeks in but as long as it's coming off. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I was sleeved on the 5th October with a BMI or 30.8. I now have a BMI of 27. Getting close to normal. It's been quite straightforward so far and the fear was the worst bit. I'm a Brit living in Singapore, but the doctors/ hospitals here are fantastic. I self paid. I would say go ahead and don't listen to the naysayers. Only thing is, have you spoken to previous British patients from your doc. I'd insist on this. It will help you know what to expect. Be sure you will get the right after care if any issues. Good luck with your surgery ps there are some low BMI chats on here you may want to follow. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Hi Debbie, I'm in Singapore but probably nearer to you than most Aussies. I was sleeved 05th Oct. doing well so far. Worst bit for me was the fear beforehand. Congrats on the new hubby. And good luck with your surgery. This time next year, you and I will be buying much smaller Xmas party dresses Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  8. How's everyone doing ? I'm very happy with my mini tummy. I still have some issues learning what I can and can't eat and get acid reflux for the first time in my life but I'm so happy to be losing weight. I hope everyone else is doing ok. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Paranoid

I'm 6 weeks out (surgery 5th oct) and have had a very similar experience so far. I'm consuming around 1000 calories no problem. I'm still losing so hopefully won't manage to sabotage this tool ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Confused about the pains!

I can share my experience. I had mine at 8am on the 5th oct 16. I had gall bladder removed same time. I woke up from anesthetic with terrible burning acid like sensation in chest. I'd never had acid reflux by maybe this is what a bad bout feels like ? The theatre nurse said 'here's a morphine pump, pump if you need it'. I pumped three times in quick succession then can only remember being very woozy and feeling nauseous next few hours. Another nurse said around 4pm that 'morphine may be causing nausea. Do you want to stop the morphine drip and see how you get on with pain?' I opted for this and nausea wore off within say 18 hours. I sipped warm lemon & ginger tea that I took with me (good tip). I never needed pain meds again. I took an anti acid reflux for three days and never needed since. Incisions wounds no pain. I had a bloated gassy feeling for a couple of days but the ginger tea helped and I made myself burp...a lot! All told my experience was really not that bad. I've never had a baby so can't compare but am sure childbirth would have been far worse. I'm pleased I did it. I have lost about 12% of my overall body weight in 6 weeks post surgery and feel and look much better. Good luck with your surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    October sleevers?

I can only get 700 to 800 calories a day, wish I could get to 1000. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App I don't like fish or chicken so eat beef, lamb or pork. They are more calorific I think. I also eat low fat babybel cheese as an afternoon snack. I'm still losing so have stopped fretting about it. But I have bad constipation so need to figure that out LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Will I be broken forever?

I found some unsweetened ginger and lemon tea helped me with nausea and was sort of calming. I felt much better when j was cleared for eggs and cottage cheese. I think the shakes made me want to throw up. I also found a great non milky Protein Water that helps. I'm a month in and have list 8% of my body weight so feeling grateful for my sleeve even though I'm learning to manage it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
