    One year Surgiversary!

What I have found is that a lot of times people just don't understand and that ignorance makes them come across as being mean or rude. The comments that people make about how much weight we've lost or how little we eat or how different we are from the people we used to be do get old but they also come from people not knowing what to say to us and not understanding what life is like for us now. So we will keep rocking on and doing what we do and being healthier versions of ourselves and we will smile when people make stupid comments because in the end we are better than letting the ignorance of others steal our sparkle!

    One year Surgiversary!

It's such a huge step you are taking! I still remember counting it down! The past year has flown by and I am still in this journey to build healthier habits and lifestyle choices. You have to learn to do a lot of things all over again but if you take advantage of this amazing tool you can gain so much more out of life!

    100 lbs lost!

Way to go!!!! You look beautiful!
  5. One year ago today I had my RNY bypass done! One year later and I'm down 125lbs and I have lost a total of 90.5 inches!!!! I feel amazing, my knees don't ache every time I move and my feet aren't so sore from carrying that much weight around! I don't get winded walking up a flight of stairs anymore and have found that I love jogging and I love yoga and riding a bike is fun again!! I still struggle with who I see in the mirror so I take a lot of pictures. I take measurements every month or so and I celebrate with activities instead of food now. What a difference a year can make!
  6. Today a stranger called me skinny... Sitting in a doctor's office a woman I used to be comparable in size to asked me to trade seats with her because I had (out of old habit) sat down in a bigger chair without arms and the only seat left was a smaller chair with arms. She walked over and blushingly embarrassed and asked if I would mind moving over to the other seat so she could sit down too. I smiled politely and told her of course. She joked that some chairs were for skinny people like me and some were for fat people like her. I felt the hurt in what she said. I remembered it, I knew the bitter taste of those words. I moved that armed chair closer to the unarmed chair and told her a year ago I would have needed that bigger chair. I told her I understood and that I was sorry I was thoughtless enough to even require her to ask me to trade in the first place. We talked for a while. I told her about my RNY bypass and how in 11 months I was down 120lbs. I lost a person. I told her that in my head I still look for the bigger seats because that person from a year ago still lives in my head. I only see a real difference in pictures. The biggest change I made for myself because of that realization was to take lots of pictures. Everyday I show myself the progress I have made because I can't see it in the mirror that clearly. I showed her my pictures and she was amazed. We discussed my before and current stats including weights and measurements. I made a friend today. She called me skinny and it felt foreign and bizarre but we touched each other's lives and found a common bond.
  7. It's been 9 months since my RNY bypass... I have lost a total of 105lbs but have been stuck in a stall for a long while! Starting weight: 280lbs Surgery Weight: 267lbs Current weight: 175lbs I'm just taking it day by day and focusing on my food, water and exercise. I feel great and I know the stall will pass! I'm not done with this journey yet!

    Accountability buddies??

    I messaged you!
  9. Anyone interested in being postop RNY buddies to help keep each other accountable and focused? My RNY was 8/23/16 and I'm down 100lbs and 71 inches but I'm in a 2 month stall and let life get to me and haven't been as focused as I should be.
  10. I could so use an accountability partner! I am 9 months post op from RNY bypass and in the past month not only have I stalled but I have had serious issues with head hunger and wanting to snack on EVERYTHING!!! I set tomorrow as my "back on track" goal and I could really use some help with holding myself accountable. I'm in GA so eastern time and I'm up early so anytime between 7:00am and 8:15am is great for talking but I can text anytime!
