Hi invisible peers!  I had considered weight loss surgery for over 20 years.  Seriously.  I had always said no to it because I swore I could do it on my own.  There were times I'd lose up to 60lbs, but I'd gain it back.  This past summer I was visiting family when my brothers and dad decided to play an impromptu game of "guess Katra's weight".  That made me start thinking about it.  I hadn't paid attention to scales for a long time.  So when i stepped on one after that ridiculous conversation, I saw the biggest number I'd ever been.  392.  That scared me.  I had been having difficulty moving recently.  Hip, knee and ankle pain.  Muscles were tired.  But the number 392 is what made me say that it's time for drastics.  I have a little niece and nephew and I'd like to play with them without saying "auntie needs to sit".  So around the middle to end of August, I went to a seminar and met with the surgeon that same afternoon.  I started my journey.  I jumped through the hoops quickly and had surgery November 2nd.  Once I'm through the next few weeks of healing, I'll be so grateful for this surgery.  But right now I'm struggling with some side effects.  Anyone who says that surgery is the easy way out is a damn fool.

I found Bariatric pal while searching for apps and support groups that could help me in this new life phase.  I am so so so happy I found it!  The support from people who have been where I am is amazing.  And I love that I can share my experience with others and hopefully help ease their minds with their journey!
