I will be post op RNY on April 5th. I woke up tonight with this weird pain behind my ribs on both sides. I took two gasX because it feels like gas pain but the pain isn't going away. It's not like unbearable but it feels like a sore muscle but throbbing when I lay down. Anyone experience this?

I did get a yeast infection about two days after I got home but they gave me an over the counter med and that took care of it. I'll have to head into the dr to get it checked.

I have been having the same thing. I had RNY on the 5th of December. I was doing great. I even got a week of purée in and then all the sudden I was so sick. Could eat could drink. Dr told me it was inflammation so I am trying some over the counter anti acids to see if that helps. Today was the first day I didn't dry heave and could get liquids in. Hoping to try some Soup tomorrow.

I had RNY on the 5th at 7:30am. I was discharged on the 6th at 4pm. Gas pains aren't really pain more like discomfort. My indications just started hurting today. I walk a lot more then I sit just because I had so much gas in me. And I burp... a ton! Other than that I feel myself getting better. I hurt in the morning when I wake up but once I start walking I feel better. I am much better then I thought I would be!

I am at the end in Day 2 post op and I am burping a ton. I burp more than I pass gas. It is very reliving, but sometimes hurts. Is this normal? I am on Clear liquids for a week and all liquids make me do it, and every time I get up and walk I do it. Am I just getting that gas out of us it my stomach?

Did anyone have a family member stay over night? I am telling my mom and husband not to because I think I will just be sleeping. Thoughts?

I saw that!! I am a private pay customer and they are suppose to be good for private pay since it's all inclusive. Luckily I went with another doctor that a friend referred!

I am having RNY because I have acid reflux. I also love sweet foods and I hate feeling of being sick so I knew I wouldn't be tempted with sweets because I don't want to have dumping syndrome. I just felt the Bypass was better for me in the long run.

I am self pay (have insurance, it just doesn't cover surgery) in DFW and I have my surgery on Monday. I received a bill from my endoscopic dr that I wasn't expecting but my insurance is trying to have me only pay a little. If it is a bill from the hospital go up there and say I only have this much in cash or check and try to negotiate the price. Hospitals will negotiate if you are standing there trying to give them cash! They will take lower amounts than what is expected!

My husband, mom, dad, sister, and mother in law know. I am going to tell my best friend after the surgery and after my first few months. She has a model body and I just don't think she will understand but if she sees the results after then she will be happy for me. My work knows I am having surgery but that's it. They didn't need to know anything else. I will take one week of PTO and then work from home for two weeks. I'm not telling anyone but I will tell them I have changed my lifestyle. I am also now gluten free and that has helped me loose weight.

I'm 4 months post op and I drink through a straw. As for carbonated drinks all surgeons are different. Some say never some say a year. I would discus that with them.
