    Hot dogs?

At 3 weeks out I was on solids and one of the first things I had was a hotdog on a bun. I had absolutely no trouble with it, but perhaps you would like to try this experiment yourself before you are with a group of people. I'm sure people have different reactions. Good luck to you.

It's a great day to be alive!!!

I'm jealous of that wonderful temp you have in Indiana...it's really hot and muggy here in Tennessee but the thunder is rolling, so a storm is headed this way, and my knee doesn't allow for much walking. I'm so happy your first fill was a positive experience. It was so good to hear as I prepare to have my first. You are my inspiration. Keep up the good work, and yes it is wonderful just to be alive and see such a cheerful post I hope it's OK to ask you here do you like the new weight loss sticker...I love it. "I will not cheat on my diet"....it's cute don't you think. Apparently the site is back up and I now have two tickers  The top ticker has to go, but will have to wait for daughter (the computer genie) to fix it. I'm "computer challenged". Luv ya, Dody

Thank you LBT Mods and Alex

I love you too. Now cut out the mooshies.... Hey do you like my new sig? Did I tell you Tony is one of the the things that leave me breathless? That is the truth. The site is down that I want my weight ticker from, but I bet you know that because one of yours is missing. It's a really cute one and I plan on getting it back when the site is up and running again. For now take good care of yourself my friend. Luv ya

    Thread Killers

If that's a pic of Jack, I can certainly understand why the Chippendale's dancers are after him. He is HOT!!

I recently pole danced at a strip club!

ROFLMAO at you. Actually pole dancing is supposed to be a great way to lose weight. It sounds like something you would be good at

    The "DeLarla's Back" Fun Thread

I lived in Germany for 5 years and that was awesome. I've traveled to many countries and have wonderful memories.....but can't touch some of the stuff you guys have accomplished. Lisa, it is so good to have you back.
  8. Sorry thought you were talking about this thread. I'm a mo. out and eating whatever I want....dr's. permission. He told me from the start if I could swallow my pills to take them, and I have. He also moved me along very fast to solids withoiut a bit of trouble on my part. I've never as much as had a gas pain...if you would like to check all the links you will find I've NEVER had anything to complain about. I got excited finding my port for sure, but that is about it. I was simply curious how fast people more along. I could ask the same...why don't lots of Mexican bandsters have a pre-op diet. Some are eating and drinking up till the night before surgery? I don't see you questioning that doctor's methods. Have a great day. I'm through with this thread killer anyway....won't be back so carry on all day and fight with each other, because you won't have me to fight with.
  9. Glad you liked OUR area. My horses are stabled in San Diego
  10. Hi, from Sylvia Brown with fangs!! Penni was only brought up as an example of why I wouldn't go to Mexico along with a number of health problems. I merely read Penni's journal and saw what she had been through and said I'm not going there...my decision. Like I said my surgeon is black so I see absolutely no reason to say I'm bashing anyone....this thread should be closed down for the direction it is taking for sure. I now have one more person to add to the Ignore list. I didn't bash anyone's choices at all...show me where I did?????? It just simply isn't for someone with multiple health problems and neither is this dirt being thrown around. I could personally care less who choses to go to Mexico...I just did'nt. Enough of fighting with invisible faces and personalities. I hope Bettina shares all those names
  11. Ah, where did I say what I was eating? I'm simply following dr's. orders on my end and doing great.
  12. I appreciate that post. I don't quite know what a "psychic vampire" is myself, but I certainly reported the post. Perhaps a "psychic vampire" is Syliva Brown with fangs If so I'm in the best of company. I mentioned Penni only because of her and Lisa's experience. It turned me off to Mexico, and so did the health problems that I have. I'm not some young 25 year old. Thanks for your support...and I'm waiting to hear the names of those doctor's too. I bet we aren't going to get them, and if we do I intend to call each of their offices so I would appreciate phone numbers to go with this statement. I need to add I am the furthest thing from prejudice. My lapbanding surgeon who I consider a gift from God tells me he is "merely a tool in God's hands". Did I mention he is Black???? That should tell you I love the man and I'm certainly not prejudiced. I really wish this thread would just die. Where is Just Paul when you need him, or Lisa...... My dr. told me he had been trained by a Swedish dr. Why on earth would I doubt the man. Why would he even think of lying to me? It seems a bit insane. I'll take him at his word. Not every dr. is trained by a Mexican dr. for sure, and Vanderbilt is conducting lots of experimental programs that I sure haven't heard of in Mexico. For instance sucking out the gas used during the surgery process...it worked. I didn't have one single gas pain and have never had one in 5 weeks.....so theoretically they are trying things to improve the band each and every day. They are also working on a way that the band can't be penetrated...a new wrapping of types. No Mexican dr. is involved in this testing I can assure you. Again, thanks for your support Bettina. Enter Paul or Lisa

    Sick of this Crap-ll

Is there anything more loyal and loving than a dog....brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Let's hope this ends the discussion once and for all. I don't need my Medicare money to buy anything...I earned the Medicare might as well use it. I own a stable of racehorses and any one of them would have more than bought me this surgery anywhere in the U.S. or any country. I chose to fly cross-country to visit family and make a vacation out of it....but money is never an issue with me Thank God. My husband, Bless His Heart, made sure I would never do without, so if you don't know me please keep words like "physic (did you mean psycho) vampire to yourself. I feed off nothing or no one and was merely contributing to a thread. There was absolutely no bashing of Penni or anyone else. Get the facts straight. I thought I'd stay here Lisa. There aren't many foreign countries I haven't already seen, but the idea seems feasible. I found a great doc right here.
  15. Your experience and Lisa's turned me against Mexico forever, along with the lousy aftercare you have to deal with. I never bashed you in any way Penni and don't appreciate the poster who said I did or who called me a "psychic vampire". I have reported the post and hope to get the same treatment every other poster on here gets, as that was completely uncalled for.

    The "DeLarla's Back" Fun Thread

    1. I married a real cowboy....bull rider and all. (we both were a little nuts). 2. I delivered 5 girls and have my own basketball team. That's a tough one to do. 3. I speak 3 languages somewhat fluently...whoopee. Who really cares unless I fly to Spain or Italy. 4. I own a stable of racehorses some very nice ones, and one two-year-old may be derby bound. That's a big one for me. My horses run at DelMar right now and they are doing great under the watchful eye of their trainer Jeff Mullins (an authentic Idaho homegrown guy) 5. I'm good friends with Gary Stevens and his folks (ah he would be a retired Hall of Fame Jockey that won several Kentucky Derby's.) 6. I just realized if I'm not talking about my kids, horses, or dogs I really have nothing to talk about. 7. I love my band and named it "Faith"..hope that works. 8. I once rode a mechanical bull for 8 seconds...LOL, then I bit the floor. 9. I have 8 great grandkids. 10. I still go to my friend's Fantasy Night at her house when all the sexy lingerie comes out and the toys. 11. Most of all I've met a wonderful man here which was completely unexpected and set up by my kids of all things...nothing like fixing mom up. I think they would love for me to stay in Tennessee and that I might do There are gardeners to take care of the lawn and a housekeeper that comes in once a mo. to dust and keep things nice even though no one is living here. What more could I want? 12. I'm also a professional handicapper of horses and have been for 20 years. I make a darned good living at it too. Don't gamble a lot, but sell loads of tip sheets to tracks. 13. Who would think a 64-year-old would be handicapping horses? Beats me? Lots people don't know.... I guess that's it. Can't keep up with you DeCarla.

    Got Dimebag?

What can I say. I had a baby at 38 and rock music was blasting throughout the house every day when she was a teen. She was also a big Nirvana fan and we almost got shot for approaching Curt Covaine's ?? house to get pictures when we went to Seattle. They had huge guard dogs patroling the place and he had just been dead about 4 mo. or so, and I believe Courtney was still there. Scared the heck out of me let me tell you. Yeh, I've seen the rock age and even enjoyed some of the more mellow stuff....like Savage Garden and Journey.

    Life changing event ...

I hope this does the trick because it's a small pill and easy to swallow. I've had no problems at all since being banded...no gas or anything. We shall see after the first fill if this continues though I'm a retired nurse myself...been for a few years now. I think your last poster was asking the definition of PE and DVT. It is pulmonary embolus and deep venous thrombosis....neither are a good thing to have. You are lucky Elizabeth. At the first sign of heart pain I took a regular aspirin and the dr. said it probably saved my life. You definitely knew the right thing to do.

    Life changing event ...

I know aspirin products are supposed to be a no-no amongst bandsters, but in my case I've had 5-way-bypass surgery and must take a baby aspirin a day. I explained this to my lap-banding surgeon and he is more than supportive of it. I have had no problems with taking aspirin since I got banded, and hope I won't after my first fill in a week. Thanks for sharing Elizabeth. You have endured a lot and I know what that is like...I've been there...not a PE but 5-way-bypass with 98% clogged arteries. My red blood cells went on vacation for close to a year and it seemed like all I did was sleep and eat...and therefore...now I had to look at lap-banding as a means to put a stop to the fact I can't exercise much and cooking for one isn't much fun, and I'm afraid I chose the wrong foods. I didn't like the idea of using the ignore button, but I've recently decided it is the way to go for me to avoid any conflict, so I'm exercising it and feeling good about it. What you can't see can't possibly hurt you. You put a lot in perspective for everyone I think.:clap2:
  20. It could be $12.95 you will never regret spending to find out more about the dr. doing your lap band. It will tell you all the complaints and malpractice suites he or she has pending against them. It is a good thing to know before you put your life in their hands. I am so glad I spent that money and found a dr. with a completely clean slate. I had one time thought of another dr. and found some horrible info about him online. It's just a suggestion. It is well worth finding out what you could be in for in the long haul.

Enough is Enough - I QUIT!

It sounds like a dream come true for you...doesn't even sound like a job just a whirlwind of fun and frolick. Hope you have a great time.
  22. Pretty darned rediculous to doubt what my doc told me. Can you prove he went to Mexico...I think not. I certainly have no reason to doubt him....he tells me all the time he has Mexican bandsters coming there wanting help with problems and he won't take on the liability, so please don't tell me there aren't some major problems with people banded in Mexico.....talk to Penni why don't you?
  23. She stated I live right near Nashville Medical Center and I've never heard of your doctor....DUH why not pick up the darned phone and call the Bariatric Center at Vanderbilt and ask who their top lap-banding surgeon is before spilling it over into the forum that poor you never heard of him.... I'm finished with this discussion. When it comes to the fight between Mexican dr's. versus American dr's. find someone else to fight with...better yet ask Penni why she would never go to Mexico again and all that happened to her...it's all here on the board. I don't take chances and I don't follow up with docs for fills that don't use fluoro. End of discussion...from now on you are talking to yourselves.
  24. there is a Dr. Morton in Knoxville. Sorry I haven't heard of your doc. The only doc doing lap banding that I know of at Nashville University Medical Center is Dr. Melvin. He is wonderful and I plan on staying with him for all my aftercare. Where did you have your surgery? Just because I haven't heard of someone doesn't mean they aren't good....it just means I don't think he operates where my doc does. I just finished reading and posting to a thread by a Mexican bandster who just had her first fill her in the US (one recommended by her Mexican doc) and she said she was poked and poked without any fluoro. That alone is enough to scare me silly. I have had serious heart problems and have had 5-way-bypass. There is no way I would ever leave the states for surgery with my medical history. Good luck.

    July 2006 Band Crew

One of the main reasons I'm staying in Tennessee instead of going home is I want my fills with the dr. that did my surgery. He knows exactly where he placed the port, and he always uses fluoro anyway. Somehow I feel I'll get jumped on for this, but have you considered using a radiologist who does use fluoro instead of the dr. that is doing your fills. A lot of hospitals have radiologists that do fills. It would be horrible to think about being poked all those times. My port is very close to the surface, and needless to say I can't keep me hands off the darned thing. I hope you have much better luck the next time and I hope you can find someone that uses fluoro for fills.
