Hi Everyone! I live in Southeastern CT. I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery back on 10/8/2014 at Backus Hospital with Dr. Mark Tousignant ..whi is now at Manchester Hosp in South Windsor. I started at 243lbs 5'4 . I am now at 162lbs. I had a little regain of like 12 to 13lbs and went to see my surgeon and he helped my start to lose that plus a couple lbs more. I followed him to his new office to remain a patient of his. I love my sleeve and do not regret it. I feel like the person I lost is able to step out again...always felt me inside but felt trapped in my body and dis not want to continue on that path. My weight came off mainly over the first year..and a few more after but I maintained for the most part.

I'm tired lol...some times I'll bend over n get a lil lightheaded honestly. Some days I feel bloated n can't seem to eat anything over 2 bites or so. No issues with bowels or anything. Fellow RN told me I looked a lil pale today so idk maybe I'm just worn out lol. How about u? Thanks for asking

I never counted carbs and over 260 pounds lost later, I still don't count them.

After 20+ yrs in OA & still 317 lbs. this surgery was my last hope. I lost 32 lbs b4 the surgery as my insurance required & only 28 lbs @ 3 1/2 mos post-op. I can't find words for how discouraged I am with the results of this surgery. I've stayed the same wt now for about 5 weeks. I am so afraid this is it for me when I have sooo much left to lose (100 lbs). I wish now I'd gone with the bypass choice or lap band. I am so frustrated & ready to give up & go back to eating sugar & junk. I've already mentally thrown my hands in the air. This surgery was meant to save my life in more ways than one & now I don't care anymore.

This morning I went to the first consult with the practice I chose, and the physician's assistant told me they do not do surgery on anyone who has borderline personality disorder or bipolar disorder.
Has anyone here had this issue? Were you able to find another practice that accepted you? Or were you able to convince the first practice to take you after all by citing relevant statistics? Any good articles I should read?
I'm 39 years old, so as anyone who knows about borderline personality disorder knows, I have aged out of the worst phase. I'm very stable now, have been with the same therapist for 3 years, have been on there same medications for 3 years (same meds I was on before I got pregnant), own my own home that is more than half paid off, have a daughter who is in kindergarten (have never had any custody or other parenting issues), have an employed partner who I have been with for 2 years, getting married next year.
Feeling very frustrated right now, but not ready to give up.

I never wanted to have my picture taken. We all know the answer to that. My surgery was in 6/2016 & I have reached my goal. I thought I would be happy but no difference in my feeling bout myself. I'm on Wellbutrin but I don't think it's any different. Maybe I need to talk to my Dr.

Thanks for the advice but this is the only place I feel I can be totally honest and get advice from other people going through the same changes. Anyway my profile is under a fake name. And if my current boyfriend ends up on bariatric pal I would be quite surprised!! Plus it's not like I'm being unfaithful. I care about him deeply and I'm invested in the relationship fully. It's just making me nervous to have feelings and move into something so soon and chance being hurt. Especially when he doesn't know about my surgery- I worry when he finds out he will end things.
Dating without feelings is a safe zone for me but also not satisfying in many ways. Hence my post- I'm not sure what I want right now. I just don't want to be scared or make poor choices for myself.

You don't need us to tell you that you made a mistake. You knew before you started this thread. Don't beat yourself up anymore. That episode is over. It's done. It's in the past. What matters now is what you do next. You already know what to do. Good luck!

Hi CT sleevers. I was sleeved on 5/2 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport by Dr. Floch. So far I'm down about 25 pounds and can't wait to start eating food (tired of the liquids ☹️) So far everything has been good no pain just tummy feels a little queasy after I drink but over time it lessens.

Sometimes I really wonder if there is confusion on this topic. Like is 60 just a goal when you are healing and your consumption is limited or is 60 really for life?
I'd starve on 40g of Protein a day.

Being fat was absolutely 100% my fault. I've never been one to "beat myself up" about it, nor have I ever been one to deny that I had a terrible relationship with food.
I liked to eat in bulk, I made sh!tty choices, and I ignored common sense more often than not. I wasn't depressed, I didn't eat emotionally, I had no health issues, I was simply stupid.
But I fixed it. That's the bottom line.

My doctor said 80-100 grams of Protein daily also. My energy has been increased and I'm still losing steadily. I would encourage you to get a second opinion on that.

As a nurse, the fastest route is first to take a Dulcolax suppository. If that doesn't work, do an enema on yourself, laying on your left side on towels in bed. As a nurse and a sleeve patient, I know the awful feeling you're going through. Once your stool is completely evacuated, take one dose of Miralax daily. Very safe and effective, until you are on solids and can add more Fiber to your diet! I hope this helps [emoji4]

According to my entry in myfitnesspal, it's listed as "22 oz (56g), oven roasted turkey breast portion", and I added some low-fat mayo to it. It wasn't too bad actually.

Best to be cautious (if you can) with lifting. 4 weeks is probably wise.
    Good luck!
