    Baton Rouge Balloon?

From someone who's gone through it I'd say I have absolutely no regrets... the balloon did what it was supposed to do and that was help me lose weight, which I did. However, the balloon is not a cure you need to take is seriously and really work with your doctor to break your bad habits. I'm having my second balloon put in in July because I still need help losing weight. 6 months was just not enough time for me to break all my bad habits. Hopefully this time around I'll kick my bad habits for good. Good luck to you and stick it out... the first two weeks are the worse but it gets better...

    2nd balloon...

I will certainly try that...it's so hard for me at times. During the evenings I crave carbs so badly I just feel like the craving takes over me... I hope I can break this cycle the 2nd time around with the balloon. I wish I could get the 2nd balloon tomorrow but the doc says I have to wait a good amount of time so that it'll shock my stomach again. Hence why we're waiting until July... I just hate this battle. For some people it's gambling, alcohol, drugs, coffee, for me it's effing food... I hate this. One great thing was I stopped smoking completely from others, I was only socially smoking but I will not do it ever again, I have absolutely no desire.

    2nd balloon...

Thank you so much for your response, it's great to know I'm not alone. We're learning and this will be something I'll have to take more seriously... I need to break my addiction to carbs.

    2nd balloon...

Sooo I had my balloon in aug 2016, and out feb 2017... great experience, lost like 30 lbs... but now I'm slowly putting the weight back on and it sux! My doctor and I have already arranged to put a 2nd balloon in, in July but I wish I could get something more permanent but with a bmi of 26 (25 on a good day) she says there's no way I would qualify for anything other than the balloon... ugh I'm so depressed about this but I just figure I have so many bad habits to break and I just couldn't break them all the first time around... I totally quit smoking and hardly drink alcohol anymore... but it's the carbs! Damn carbs! I workout 5 days a week for over 90 minutes plus I get a great amount of exercise at work twice a week. My genetics blow. Has anyone experienced this?

2 Months with balloon, weight loss really slow!

I've had my balloon since August 16th and I'm down about 17 lbs. I've noticed I start having intense cravings when I don't take my Vitamins. I take a b complex and a multi Vitamin and I struggle with taking these. Taking my omeprozale and birth control is no problem but the vitamins are quite challenging. Immediately after I take the b complex I will vomit anything and everything in my stomach including Water. I ordered a gummy version and hopefully that will help as it has with the multi vitamin. One other things I've done is started using weight watchers along with my balloon. At least on the days when I'm not eating what I'm suppose to like lean Protein and such I'm not over indulging in other stuff like Pasta or other carbs or sweets or whatever. It's really made a huge difference. Weight loss for me really is about calories in vs calories out... Simple. I don't exercise as much as I'd like simply because I don't have as much time and I still feel weak. I do walk quite a bit though which has helped tremendously as well. You have plenty of time left with your balloon to make some serious weight loss effort. You just have to find out what works for you. Trying to drink protein all the time and all that wasn't enough for me. I needed more food guidance and choices. Good luck to you friend! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

11 days w/ balloon and I feel horrible!

@@NPR I can completely relate. I will be 4 weeks on Tuesday and I still don't feel like myself. And I think it is true that the doctors offices do downplay the severity and hardship that comes along with the balloon. It has completely changed the way I feel about food. It does get better but I do struggle still with not feeling like myself. I just remind myself a million times a day it is going to be worth it in the long run for my health. You can do this and best wishes to you friend! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Orbera insertion next week!

About 3 weeks in with my orbera and down 14 lbs... Physically I'm feelin good. I haven't been in the 150's for my weight in years. It's very motivating. And makes me look forward to the next few months. Now I am struggling with depression I would say. I never realized how much of a comfort food was for me. Yesterday was my first time going out with some friends, went to a beer festival and I just wasn't myself. Of course I didn't have any beer but I had a few crown and gingers... Didn't even get a buzz on tho I was to scared to drink to much because I can hardly eat anything. So I would say it's a really weird inner conflict im having with myself. I miss comfort food... Nachos, pizza, burgers, etc...but have noooooo appetite. I couldn't even force myself to have anything for Breakfast this morning. I gave in and had a little lentil Soup a little while ago. I hope my body and mind can get on the same page... I would love to go back to the gym and to just really feel normal again. All in all I believe the balloon is working. It's doing a wonderful job of reprogramming my bad habits and I'm grateful... I'll be 30 next week and I couldn't think of a better way to bring in this decade of my life than with good health. Balloon stuck?

Has anyone had any issues with their gastric balloon getting stuck in an uncomfortable position in their stomach? I was moving around to much dancing and the balloon shifted inside of me and now it's in a uncomfortable spot. My assured me I'm ok but wish I could alleviate the problem. It's really uncomfy. 9. I had my balloon placed 8/16 so I'm almost two weeks out. The thing that helped me the most was having a really good relationship and line of communication with my doctor. I suffer from intense anxiety and the first few days I kinda took a trip to crazy town. My doctor called me everyday and I even called her on a Saturday morning in the middle of a panic attack and she called in an rx for some Xanax right then and there. She listened to me and did a wonderful job of calming me down when I felt really overwhelmed. If it wasn't for her kindness and really listening to me I would have gone to the ER and had the balloon removed within the first week. On the physical end the first few days I felt very weak and dehydrated. There's really not to much you can do about that but force the liquids down. I did this and was able to get more and more down eberyday. Once I was on top of my Protein intake I started feeling much better. Now, almost two weeks out I struggle with missing food and fatigue. I am constantly tired. It sucks but my doctor assures me that will subside in the coming weeks. All in all I've lost about 10 lbs so far and look forward to the health and wellness I will gain from this experience. You can do this and best of luck to ya! Orbera insertion next week!

Glimmer120 it is nice to meet some one who is also a "off labeler" like me. Yesterday I started feeling better and today I am feeling much better for the most part. Not quite a 100% or "normal" but better. I am so happy to hear you are going to be taking care of your mental health too. Sometimes I think we forget how important that is. You are going to do amazing, and just the fact that your setting your self up for success awards you so many opportunities to really learn from this experience. It's only been a week and my whole outlook has changed when it comes to food. I'm learning what real feelings of hunger are... It's really quite crazy. You have so much support here for you too!! I'll keep you in my prayers! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Really Regretting it.

I'm sorry you feel this way. If it wasn't for my doctors constant support I would have already had my balloon removed and I'm only 5 days post. I have gone through a wide array of emotions to resentment, embarrassment, excited, panic, anxiety, depression, regret. I feel like a hormonal teenager going through puberty all over again sometimes. The fatigue is awful. Can barley walk for longer than 20 mins without being winded. The mental aspect of this whole thing has been the absolute hardest part for me. I totally feel for, you are not alone friend. food has been my comfort, my reward for so long and to have it taken away makes me so sad sometimes. I broke down from being so depressed I had to get an rx for some Xanax from my doctor. You will feel a little different everyday. Some days better some days worse. Embrace it and know you embarked on this journey and you have many supporters here to listen you. You can do this, you really certainly can, and will. Stay positive friend. ???? Feelings hurt

It's your life! Do you girl! Get a taxi, uber, Lyft... Whatever you gotta do to make it there and make yourself happy. Even if you just wanted to have the procedure for vanity and not so much health it is YOUR choice. Whatever you do, whether you go through it or not, do it for you. You are most certainly worth it! Spin Off thread: do people comment often?

I've told only people about my procedure that I'm really close to and support me no matter what. This process is hard enough and I don't want or need anyone's negativity clouding my path to a healthier happier lifestyle. It's good to get objective advice but you can get that from your doctor who should be giving you the bottom line about your health anyways. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
