Soooooooooo some people just will never, ever, ever, ever, get it. This is the time in our lives where we are finally investing in ourselves, our physical and emotional health and our quality of life. We don't have the energy to take care of ourselves and invest our emotions in people not supportive of our Quest. Kick him out of the space your allowing him to rent in your head and fill it with the visual of a healthy, happy future you. Best wishes to you.

The Protein powder plastics are great for things in the garage. Instead of individual Water bottles, I have 2 Brita water pitchers and use a refillable water bottle with a regular sipping top, we've always given our clothes to big brother-big sister. They take all sizes, all ages, and they come to the house to pick them up.

I'm 57 and has the sleeve on 9/13. The first day was hard from the gas but walk, walk, walk. I was in the hospital overnight. By day 3 I was off pain meds. Its important to balance moving with resting, when you get home. Prepare by getting some Protein Shakes in the house, I got a Brita Water filter and sugar free ice pops. I use vitamin patches instead of pillows. A heating pad on my stomach helped if you have one and a pillow for the car. Be well.

I had gastric bypass in March 2015 in Juarez, Mexico. My surgeon was Dr. Rodriguez with BeLiteWeight. I lost almost 140 pounds. My weight goes up and down a few pounds but I also eat pretty much what ever I want. I went from a size 24 to a size 2. I have loose skin and want plastic surgery. I've been to one plastic surgeon and my quote was 32,000 to fix everything I wanna try to fix. I'm still a work in progress and every day can be a struggle. I have yet to start a exercise plan but started my 1st job 7 months ago. Now I'm off the couch and out of the house every day.

I was denied and had all my doctors give me a Medical necessity letter. I sent them in to my insurance company after Bariatrics put in an appeal. I followed up with phone calls and finally got approved. I think taking it on myself and being polite and persistent helped. Good luck. Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App

cbonet got a reaction from Odie in It absolutely makes NO freaking sense to me... **MY RANT**
This is a wonderful forum and it's imperative that we newbies get to hear from those of you post surgery on your knowledge and experience. The commonality is that at one point and more, in our lives we were all consumed with compulsion, justifying our overeating, binge eating, laughing off the 3rd slice of pizza. Please understand that calling people stupid is not helpful. They are in a sad and dangerous place. Ridicule will only stop them for asking for guidance and support. I know it's frustrating but try to remember other people's frustration with us as they watched us "in the food" gaining weight, getting unhealthy, making bad choices. We've all had enough ridicule on our lives. We are at different points on this path, different strengths, different abilities. It's easy to ridicule its hard to understand sometimes.

cbonet reacted to Sajijoma in Today I am officially not "plus sized" what a colossal NSV for me!
I went shopping today because I desperately needed pants that fit. I wasn't sure what would fit so I tried on 16's and they were too big. Then I tried on 14's and they were kinda loose. I thought just for jiggles I'd try on some 12's and they fit! I was so shocked I actually broke down crying in the changing room. I have always been good at keeping my emotions locked down tight, but in there at that moment, I totally lost it and started bawling and LOUD. The changing room attendant knocked on the door and asked if I was ok. It took me awhile, but I managed to get the words out that I was ok and that I had found out I was a smaller size than I thought I was. I'M sure she thought I had lost my ever loving mind, but for me, this is a monumental thing. I had been an overweight kid and an obese adult, my entire life! The size I put on and zipped up, I NEVER had been that size. The closest I had to being that size was a size 11 juniors in 4th grade, so here I am, over 30yrs later and I am finally smaller than I was in 4th grade. It was monumental. I also discovered why it's important to check the price tag before falling in love with a pair of pants because $115 for a pair of pants I probably won't get more than a couple months wear out of was just too much, so I had to put them back. Broke my heart, but I did go on to find other 12's and some 14's that worked and I am officially not plus sized anymore. I can shop in the regular section with all the cute clothes!❤️ From 32/34 and some 36 down to a size 12 in less than a year...all I can say is wow! Thanks RNY for giving me a life I didn't know was attainable!

I am working with a well-respected researcher and the National Science Foundation (NSF) to help them better understand patient perspectives on Obesity. I have four simple questions for you and would greatly appreciate your responses! We do not need member names and all information will be kept confidential.
What are/were your biggest challenges during the weight loss process? (insurance, medication, surgery, maintenance etc)
What would you like to have different to solve the problems that you need to face? And why? (new weight loss medication, new surgery approaches, more support groups, new insurance plan etc.)
How much money do you spend for weight loss every year? (food, exercise, support groups, medications etc)
How did you learn about the surgery/medications that you had/used/are using? -

It's not about a chicken nugget or a pizza it about readiness and emotional wellness. Not everyone is fully prepared before this change. Sad because it's so dangerous.

I really disagree with all these you are on a diet and you have to watch what you eat for the rest of your life, people posting in your thread. I feel like that the kind of attitude that sets people up for failure. If you feel like you are on a diet forever, you will be willing to cheat and worse.
I completely changed my attitude towards food. I don't eat my feelings. I don't reward myself with food (lipstick is a far better reward). If I am stressed I go for a walk or do jumping jacks.
I eat in a way that I find enjoyable and do not at all feel deprived (keto) and it is a way of life not a diet. I can eat anywhere, and make easy choices. If for some reason I eat off plan it is a one time thing and that is it.
My suggestion is to find a way to eat that you like, that doesn't feel like punishment and fits into your lifestyle. Which might require some real soul searching.
