pixystix0116 got a reaction from Frankette in Chewable Vitamins making me nauseous!
I'm almost a year and a half post op and still get sick with chewable and swallow Vitamins. My suggestion is to find a multi liquid vitamin...they taste awful but never seem to make me sick to my stomach. I also take gummies. I know some docs don't like them but my levels have all been great when blood tests are run. Good luck! Hope you find the one that works best for you!

Opinions are like butts...everybody has one. What you are doing is right for you. I had a few naysayers giving their 2 cents at the beginning of my journey. I too have been fluffy my whole life and have yo yo'd and tried every program, plan, and fad diet under the sun, with the same result each time...defeat. I'm about halfway through my journey now, and can tell you this is the best thing I could have done for myself. Sometimes you have to turn a deaf ear to loved ones who think they know what is best for you. A year from now they will be the same ones marveling at your progress. In the meantime, don't let the muggles get you down.

My biggest and probably most basic tip is to arm yourself with a crap load of post surgery recipes, for each stage, whether it be Clear Liquids, full liquids, soft foods, whole foods. You will get sick of the same thing every day, so make sure you plan prep food for a couple days out to a week at a time. It will be a time saver and a life saver preventing you from eating things you really shouldn't...especially in the very beginning. Cheesey maybe, but I highly recommend creating a pinterest board just for yourself with different variations on high Protein smoothies shakes, Soups and foods. There are tons of things out there that I have found very helpful. Lots of luck to you!

Wow you are quite lucky with this diet plan. I was on straight liquids for 2 weeks pre op. My best advice is whenever you are hungry no matter how sick of it you might get, down some ice cold Water. It will kill the hunger and keep you from over eating. Hang it there, it's all worth it, trust me!

I know this is probably rather a generic suggestion but Pinterest. Just do a bariatric Protein Shake search and you will get oodles of ideas. Pinterest has been one of my favorite places to find VSG/Bariatric recipes. Lots of luck to you!!!

For me it seemed more natural. Yes I realize that having 80% of your stomach cut out isn't exactly natural, but I chose the sleeve over GB because I didn't want to basically have my insides replumbed.... the flow of your digestion is the same with just a smaller stomach pouch. I know that the weight loss is slightly slower with VSG than GB but I prefer it that way (most days). I was always afraid of having GB losing to quickly and looking like one of those melting people.

Oh yes, someone mentioned walking in heels. There is a pole dancer here in town who teaches women to walk in heels. I want to walk in heels too.

I am just starting this journey and am finding my desire and excitmemt to be sleeved, growing each day. I am also finding that a lot of my relationship with food is incredibly mental. The first week after my initial Kaiser orentation my emotions swung like a pendulum at the thought of losing essentially my "best friend". So to combat morning the loss of food, I have decided to start a "Skinny List," a bucket list to fulfil missed opportunities. Mainly all of the things I haven't been able to do because of my weight or chose not to do because I was afraid of others judgement.
I am just curious if any others have a Skinny List, and what adventures are on it!?

    ~My Skinny List~
    Buy a Bathing Suit without a skirt/shorts
Wear said bathing suit to the beach
    Take a cruise
    Indoor skydiving
    Trampoline Park
    "Run" a 5k
Ride in a Hot Air Balloon
    Go to a spa
    Water/Jet Skiing
    Scuba Diving
    Segway Tour
    Ice Skating
    Wear leggings
    Wear a sports bra
    Wear Skinny Jeans
    Wear Shorts
Shop anywhere other than LB or Torrid
    Do Pushups
    Not be the fat friend
    Fit in a booth
Have a date on New Years
    Have a Valentine
    Ride a non-disney roller coaster
Not have to use a seat belt extender on a plane
    Love myself

Pretty much mirroring what everyone else is saying. I tend to order lean Proteins and veggies. I usually get something I wouldn't mind eating a second time, as the leftover has become my best friend. If i go to a steak house, steak and broccoli. If i go to an italian place, grilled chicken parm with veggies instead of Pasta, mexican, chicken or steak fajitas but just don't eat the wraps, seafood grilled fish or shrimp and something green, usually broccoli. Pub and bar food, naked wings. Breakfast joints, steak and eggs. Fast food, grilled chicken sandwich but just eat the meat, or a salad. I try not to eat fried foods in general but once in a while if your stomach can take it, its ok. I know I can handle say a chicken nugget, but my body can't handle fried fish of any kind. Good luck to you!

I'm going to suggest an alternate answer: Document, document, document any/all problems you have with excess skin. Then talk with your surgical team. If you have enough documentation & their support, you *may* get your insurance to pay for excess-skin removal surgery. Good luck!

Oils. All kinds. I made myself a mix of Vitamin e, Shea, jojoba, and coconut. I usually apply with any brand of bath and bodyworks lotions after a bath. This has also helped with my stretch marks (noticeably lighter). I exfoliate with a caffeine sugar scrub at least 2X a week and take a collagen supplement in my morning Protein Shake. I'm 28 years old and around 2 years post op. I have some loose skin around my arms and tummy because that's where I carried majority of my weight but it's adjusting with this regime and strength training. Since starting CrossFit I have noticed small changes but we'll see. Best of luck to you

pixystix0116 got a reaction from FLBoyMom in Outpatient sleeve anyone?
I had outpatient surgery. I was in an out within 9 hours. I was in recovery for about 45 minutes, wheeled back to my room and immediately asked for assistance to get up and go to the restroom. They filled me with 4 bags of IV fluid! I wasn't super steady so I went right back to the bed then to sit down for a moment, got my bearings and walked up and down the hall. I was released about 30 minutes after that. It was my first ever surgery so I was super nervous but it all went off without a hitch. My pain levels were really low. I only took the pain meds for about 24 hours after surgery. I went back to my docs office the next morning to remove the draining port thingy and back home for a nap. All was well. Best of luck to you!
