Thanks! I totally assumed they were not going to fit when I tried them on; I was just wanting to see how far I still had to go. I nearly cried when I got the zipper all the way up.

Strangely, I can eat a little ice cream and feel fine, but frozen yogurt (even the SF kind) makes me sick. Just goes to show that there is no one size fits all way to eat after WLS.

Sleeved 4/4 and feeling great! All of my clothes are too big, but I'm not going shopping until I hit ONEderland, so I still have some work to do. Some days it's still a struggle to get in all of the Protein, and I had some issues with hydration early on, but I have no regrets!

It is normal to feel everything go down at first, but you will get used to it. Try changing the temperature of what you're drinking to see if that helps. Before surgery, I loved ice cold Water - now I can't drink anything too cold or it feels like lead in my stomach. Take small sips slowly (easier said than done, I know). It will get better and easier, I promise.

This is the part that sucks, but you need to keep taking the Miralax and force yourself to walk - even if it's only down the street and back or laps around your living room. I also saw that you said you split the dosage of the Miralax. Obviously, if that's what your doctor told you to do, then you should keep doing it that way; if not, take the whole dose. If you're afraid of a blowout - don't be, it's super gentle and just helps get things moving.

The exact same thing happened to me. The pain got so intense that I went to the ER. It was explained to be that there were a couple of internal stiches that can sometimes poke you from the inside while scar tissue is forming. After about a week or so the pain spontaneously vanished. Hang in there, it will get better!

I'm a little over 6 weeks post op, and was doing really well until a few days ago when I wound up in the hospital with a very painful kidney stone. I had been feeling so good that I stopped paying attention to my Water intake, which lead to dehydration and the stone. (To make me feel even more like an idiot, I already knew I was prone to kidney stones, which is why I was such a freak about water consumption pre-surgery.) The doctor at the hospital also told me that bariatric patients are at a higher risk for kidney stones. If you've never had a kidney stone, consider yourself very lucky. It's a kind of pain that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. (Okay, that's a lie - I would wish it on my very worst enemy. ) Now I'm struggling with staying hydrated and have had to go back to a liquid diet, thanks to the nausea that comes with the kidney stone. FUN!
TL;DR: Stay hydrated or you may wind up with a kidney stone.

This is the hardest part, but you just have to get through it. Pushing your new stomach too far to fast can lead to complications and/or can slow your progress.
I know how tempting it can be to cheat - I've been on purées for almost a month now, and I'm so beyond sick of Soup I could cry, but we just have to grin and bear it.
You can do it!

All surgery is scary and has inherent risks. I'm sure your mother is just scared for you. I would argue that you'd be having WLS for your daughter also - so you can be healthy and be around to watch her grow up, be able to keep up with her, and to set an example of a healthy lifestyle.

I've been on purées for 3 weeks now (only one more to go!), and I haven't puréed any meat. I've been drinking lots of Protein Shakes, smoothies with a heaping cup of plain Greek yogurt (23g of protein), and Soup.

I'm 3 weeks post op and still having to rely on my anti-nausea meds. Please tell me this goes away at some point. (I have a follow up with my surgeon next week, and I obviously plan to ask her about this, I just thought maybe someone out there who's further along can shed some light.)

I'm not allowed caffeine until 6 weeks post op, but am allowed Decaf now. I also use Premier as a creamer - the caramel flavor is the best with coffee!

I second adding sugar free flavoring to your Water. For whatever reason, it seems to go down easier. Also, since you're just a couple of days post op, you likely still have a lot of swelling in your new stomach. Try switching out one glass of water with a Protein Shake and sip it very slowly. It's important to try to get in at least some Protein right now, even if it's just a little bit.
The next few days will be rough, but every day you'll feel a little better. Hang in there!

It took awhile before eating was "normal" - there was a period of time where I didn't even cook for my family post op because I didn't wan to look at food, let alone have that "heavy" feeling and uncomfortableness. I can say that carbs are the worst!! They will sit heavy no matter how long since surgery....at least that's my experience. Once you are able to eat soft foods, and so on just really, NO REALLY...TAKE YOUR TIME EATING...it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!!! I thought I had slowed down eating and I had but you truly need to eat like a snail...lol It will help with the digestion and less heavy feeling. Good luck!!!!
Thanks! I'm still really struggling with eating slowly. It's so much harder than I thought it would be. Luckily, I have the rest of my life to work on it...

I'm just now on 1\2 liquid and 1\2 soft. But everything I eat and drink feels like that rock mentioned above. You don't have any problem s getting your fluids in? I'm getting IV liquids 2x a week so far.🤔 Any tips for that?

For me, it's been all about temperature. I have found that room temperature and warm liquids go down easier. I also don't drink plain Water - I've been using Crystal Light and Mio to flavor it (both are sugar free). Before surgery, I hated that stuff, but for whatever reason it makes all the difference now.

The only things I brought that I actually used were my robe and clean underwear. Never touched my iPad, and the hospital had all the toiletries I needed.

Did your Acid reflux resolve itself?
in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted
I feel like I should weigh in, since my experience has been the opposite of most others who have posted. Prior to being sleeved in April, I had horrible reflux. If I forgot to take my Nexium, I was miserable, and sometimes would wake up in the middle of the night choking on acid. (My surgeon did recommend bypass, but was fine with my choice of sleeve.)
I was prescribed omeprazole to take for two months (it might have been three) post-op, which I did, but I have rarely needed it since. I still have occasional heartburn, but nothing like what I had before surgery.
I realize that I'm one of the lucky ones! I just wanted you to hear from someone who had a good experience.
