Vinasu got a reaction from Frustr8 in Husband says he doesn't like skinny women...WTH!
I'm sorry you're going through this at a time you need so much love and support. The bright side is the fact that this surgery will give you both years to your life and the energy to deal with things. It's a common theme: women give their entire lives to husbands and kids and when they finally decide to do something for themselves, the family can't handle the change. Stay strong.

I use a sublingual tincture. My doctor said to avoid smoking for the same reason we need to avoid cigarettes.
The tincture doesn't have the calories of edibles and begins to take effect in 20-ish minutes. I do indulge to relax occasionally, but mostly it is fantastic for aches and pains after a good workout.

Statistically, no. Most people do not gain it all back. However, if you go back to your old way of eating then, well, of course you're going to regain. The key to WLS isn't losing weight. It's maintaining loss. However, your odds of maintaining a huge loss are much, much greater with WLS than without.

Can you compromise? Are there goodies that you hate? I dislike anything with coffee, so we get my husband mocha ice cream, tiramisu, kalua candies, etc. I dislike pretzels and popcorn, so those are his salty Snacks.
Maybe if your family is reasonable you can make this work for everyone.

I second this. I eat what my family eats. I just watch my portion sizes. That having been said, I serve my family food I can eat. No Pasta and potatoes on our table. We have scrambled eggs and ham for breakfast, I eat a P3 for lunch, and dinner might be salmon with mashed cauliflower and a green salad. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

My kids both go to Tae Kwon Do, so when I was looking into exercise, they let me join the class for only $25 a month--that's 16 hour-long sessions. It was worth it for them to keep my kids in. It's so much fun! Can you make a deal with someone?

Vinasu got a reaction from Lainybee1987 in Pre-Op Cold Feet Due to Family's WLS Disapproval :(
My mom and sister were both vehemently opposed. Mom had a employee who had surgery and ended up anemic. Sister, well, she's a nurse and I think she likes making health-care decisions for everyone. Neither one of them have had to deal with obesity like I have. My sister had always been tall and thin. When we were kids I actually had people ask me, "Don't you wish you looked like your sister?" So they never experienced the mental and physical issues I have dealt with daily as a fat person.
My sister didn't speak to me for three months after surgery. She was livid. Eventually, she thawed. She still gets angry if I ever bring up surgery, so I don't.
I feel better and more self- confident than ever. This is one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

You're too early out. Your body is still recovering. You will lose, and it will likely speed up a great deal. Weight loss in month 1 means nothing about the overall success of the surgery--it's an anomaly. Stick to the plan and in six months you'll know exactly what kind of weight loss you've got.

Vinasu got a reaction from Ms. Brightside in My horrible experience at a restaurant.
I eat at nicer restaurants all the time, and I've never been charged a spilt fee. It's a bit disingenuous to suggest that it's a matter of class. It might be a matter of restaurant culture in certain areas, but it's got nothing to do with the level of the restaurant.
I'd be angry as well, though I'd just pay and never go back.

Well, my plan, and most, require strictly tracking Protein and calories. I believe this has made me successful.
I can eat virtually anything I want now. If I weren't strictly counting calories, I absolutely would be overeating again. Tracking makes me accountable.

I can actually handle much, much spicier foods now. I crave it. I've been eating a ton of Korean and Thai foods. I think I eat so little, and I miss flavor, so I crank it up to 10 when I can.

My Dr. sets goal weight as loss of 60% of excess weight. She says that's where most people end up.

I met her goal at 4 months. My personal goal is 12 pounds below the upper limit of normal weight. I'll get there by summer.

Then don't do it. You need to want to do this. If you aren't doing it for the right reasons, you'll set yourself up to fail.

I'm not being snarky. I'm thrilled with my surgery and would do it again. But I think it's a mistake to do something this drastic when you're not sure.
