  2. Hi, I'm 7 days post op, I had removal of a lap band as well as a bypass! I had very minimal pain from the bypass, however the band site was excruciating. I've been home for 2 days now and I'm able to keep my fluids up with Water however anything else is very minimal. I have a shake with added Protein powder in the morning and something similar at lunch how ever it's only about 1/4 of a cup at the moment which I understand is normal and at tea I have some type of Soup. I'm just so exhausted throughout the day, I can't do much but sleep and even activities such as walking to the letter box makes my muscles feel like jelly, just hoping I can start feeling more alert soon! I realise I'm still only very early in I just hate it being able to contribute around the house etc

I've been there and your body needs to rest. Rest & walking around the house when I could for me was the best thing.

  3. Lol guess I better get ready for mine. I was sleeved 8 22 16

I'm worried that I can't stick to it. I have kids to feed. The food smells so good.

Same here but I managed to make it work. First couple of days for me was tuff then it got easier.

I call it like this cause I have to piss for 24 hours in a big container that looks exactly like those red gas can for Creatinine Clearance

    that's the exact can

  4. Sliming is an uncomfortable reaction to your sleeve getting full or eating too fast. One bite too many you may feel like the food is "stuck" in your chest or like something is in your throat. Accompanied by excessive saliva and mucous production and you may feel the need or want to vomit. This may last for about 15-30 min until the food has had more time to digest into the small intestine.

Moral of this story. We don't want to get full. Please measure your food and take the entire 30 minutes to eat it. This is why they tell you to take small bites, and chew thoroughly before swallowing. Put the fork down, do something to distract yourself read a book, magazine, health article, play a game whatever and then repeat. Sometimes we get little signals like hiccups, or burping to let us know it's time to tap out but everyone is different. We don't get full in the traditional sense and we don't want to fill our sleeve to capacity.

I did this the other day and thought wth?? So thanks for the information.

  5. I'm so glad someone else is having this struggle! My hubby thinks it's the easy way out and feels that I should just exercise. He thinks I don't eat now as it is and says I will be miserable after because I won't be able to have what I want or go out for dinners with friends. Um hellooooo? All of that got me to where I am now! This has been a struggle for well over half my life now. I'm fed up and ready for things to change!

I think it's kind of sad when you can't get the support you need from the one you love the most! But to say that "you need to exercise more" is so one sided! If they could only understand the true struggle here! Sometimes there is so much more to the equation than just going to the gym.

    Love this lol

  6. I'm so excited for you. I started the exact same weight as you as well as being 3lbs over date of surgery weight as you. I'm only 4 months out but you are my inspiration!

you will get there! I didn't really believe I would even though everyone was like "oh yeah, you'll make it". I had failed so many diets I had to actually staple extra pages to my survey at the surgeon's office documenting my efforts to qualify for surgery. To actually be "normal sized" it's like a dream. Now I can't stop shopping! attachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1473655404.476133.jpg this is a dress I bought yesterday. Still a little tight and it was a L, but in a month or so it'll be falling off. Ignore the pants, I was too lazy to take them off. Haha
It's such a great feeling! Congrats to you.

    PS love the dress!

  8. Hey guys...it has been a while since I posted. Life has been great. I've actually become this fitness fanatic. I love working out now...never saw that coming. My RNY changed my life and I'm so grateful. Still have a ways to go but I'm so happy with my progress. Starting weight 519lbs...surgery weight 428lbs...current weight 262lbsattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1461226623.251805.jpgattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1461226651.687097.jpg

  9. It has been almost 10 months since I had the sleeved and I am down 171 pounds 14 sizes down and total body loss 127 inches. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and follow the program. The sleeve is not going to do all of the work for you but if you work for it you can achieve your desired results. Wish I would have done this 10 years ago.

  10. I just wondered.... Anyone out there that is tired all the time. I eat Breakfast and do my meds, then weekdays I go for my 30min walk...once I'm done, I'm exhausted for the rest of the day. My bed time is 8p! When I have errands or soccer practice for my son...I'm so tired afterwards. Will this improve?? I read about everyone getting all this energy, when will I get some. I'm doing great on Protein, keeping fluids up and calories are where drs say...I just get tired so easily! Blah.

I know exactly what you are going through. I was sleeved 8 22 16 and I'm always tired as well. Sometimes, It's tuff to even get my errands in. I am so happy to read I am not alone in this.

I am taking 6 weeks off from work after my upcoming surgery for exactly that reason. While I might be able to go back after 3-4 weeks, I know that this is going to be so physically taxing and that my energy (and thus most likely my creativity) will be compromised.

  11. I posted this same topic over on the general boards, but figured you guys might benefit, too! :)

Hi guys! I wanted to put some minds at ease about excess skin. It truly depends on your body type, age, exercise level, Water intake...and about 20 other variables. That being said, I think most of the after photos people see show huge excess amounts of skin, and thankfully, it isn't that way for EVERYONE.

I drink tons of Water, exercise a lot, and in general, have good skin. I also had rather good weight distribution - no one part of me was excessively larger than all the other parts (luckily!).

I had VSG almost 2 years ago - I'll be 22 months out on the 20th of this month. I'm 28 years old, my high weight was 330 lbs, surgery weight was 323 lbs, and current weight is 150 lbs - putting me at 173 lbs lost.

I know so many people decide WLS isn't for them, for fear of excess skin. Don't let that sway you - it might not be as bad as you think!! :)

Thank you this is so helpful!!

    You look wonderful! ????????????

  12. These pics are NOT easy to share because I have No make-up on and tons of loose skin and wrinkles, hence the the Yikes in my title! All that being said, I couldn't be happier and healthier. Last Summer I was wearing a size 22 swimsuit and the one I have on in the pic is a size 10, so YAY! Having had gastric bypass has truly saved my life. I was a slow but steady loser (can't exercise much due to a chronic nerve condition) and only have a few more pounds to go. These last 10 lbs. are the hardest. Being obese for 30 years took it's toll on me but I'm so happy now that I refuse to dwell in the past. Advice for those just starting out ... Take "Before" pics and measure yourself!!! Here are my stats:

    54 years young

    5' 2" tall

    HW 285

    SW 260

    CW 138

    GW 130

    Inches Lost

    chest: 12"

    above waist: 21"

    waist (@@belly button): 18"

    below waist (apron): 19"

    hips: 15"

    thighs: 8"

    knees: 3"

    arms: 6"

You should be so proud of yourself! You have came such a long way & you look younger as well! Congratulations to your success! Yikes nahhh more like Amazing!

  13. I am down 50 pounds!! I still don't believe it! I look in the mirror and still see the "Fat" girl. I look at pictures and say "that's not me".

I do feel much healthier. Still have about 50 pounds to go. But I'll let my body determine that.

Dr says I'm right on track and doing great! I continue to focus on my Protein and Water.

I am so happy I decided to have the Gastric Sleeve surgery. No regrets. Best decision ever.

    Always had that Beautiful smile!

  14. I was sleeved on 8 22 16 & my doctor told me I had to come off of the pill for at least 2 months. I would talk to your doctor who is doing your surgery before you do the birth control thing to be safe.

Sent from my LGMS550 using the BariatricPal App

@@SoExcited101 did you have to come off the pill 2 months before or after surgery?
I asked this question in a support group last week. They said they used to require woman to stop by pills pre-op but don't any longer. That better be true because I am hoping to get a surgery date with in a week or two following my pre-op appt with the surgeon and if he tells me I need to be off the pill for a month or two I will lose my ****!
    I definitely agree!!
    Right lol
