"New Operating rooms and recovery rooms with state of the art equipment."
I had my surgery 2 weeks ago through Bariatric Pal's Team MX. From the OR, I had to transfer myself (no help from anyone) to 3 different beds immediately post-op. I was in an incredible amount of pain, still bleeding on the sheets, and barely coherent from the anesthesia. Is this something that is going to change at Oasis Hospital?

CLN.BK reacted to AbbieRoad in Does having a baby ruin your sleeve and weight loss?
I was a year out when I found out I was preggo. I'd lost 120lbs, still had about 35 I wanted to lose. I got preggo, stopped all diet/artificial sugars, replaced my turkey stuff with "real" red meats, and lost 10lbs my first trimester! Not due to nausea or vomiting, just increased metabolism. Then I had the stomach flu during my 2nd adn lost another 5lbs (whoops) docs weren't worried. I'm 36w now and due soon - and I'm still 5lbs less than where I was when I started this pregnancy! I am thinking once I push this baby out, estimated 7lbs, plus the Water, the placenta,.... I'll be down another 10lbs probably. I'm feeling pretty good about that!

honestly, I ate what I wanted this pregnancy. I listened to my body, ate what I craved!
So, this sleeve has been great for my pregnancy! Baby is healthy, I am healthy!

You MUST be expedient about your eating and nutrition. I began writing my story a few minutes ago and accidental erased the entire thing, so i will put the short version. I was sleeved 2012. Git to goal in about 18 months. Maintained for about 3 years. Got pregnant. Didn't put much emphasis on my health and nutrition above and beyond what I thought was good for baby. Always allowed myself to sneak a lil extra or splurged because i was "eating for two"?..you know the excuses we told ourselves to get to the point of needing the wls in the first place. My son is now 19 months old and i have gained 100+ lbs. Im doing 6 month preop diet in HOPES that my ins will approve revision to rny. I always said i would NEVER let myself get like that again and in fact the people who would post about regaining used to make me so annoyed lol, like duh how could you go thru all this and go right back?! Well it happens one day at a time, one bad meal choice at a time, and if you are not extremely aware of the possibility that it can happen to you, you might be the one next time writing on someone else's message. Ppleeeeeze make wise choices and good luck to you!! You got this! (Sorry for the negative view its just a reality, my reality that i don't wish upon anyone!)

CLN.BK got a reaction from GBLady41 in VSG with a single incision. Does anyone have experience with mexico dr's?
I'm having my surgery two weeks from today with Dr. Jalil Illan in Mexico. It is costing me $4,399 + airfare. My experience so far has been good; my emails and questions are promptly answered, and when I call, an actual person answers rather than getting a voicemail. I don't know yet if there will be a single incision, but I can certainly let you know in approximately two weeks. :-) There were no qualifiers that I'm aware of, but I did have to fill out a 2 pg questionnaire.

CLN.BK got a reaction from Quaintrelle in Who has had WLS without family and friends?
I know my family will not be supportive of this decision. They actually shunned someone we knew who had it and never spoke to her again. My family is very judgmental, close-minded, and "uppity." Regardless, they all live about 1,200 miles from me.
I'm pretty much on my own where I live (dysfunctional family... had to get away from everyone about 4 years ago). I have 2 friends where I live now. They have never struggled with their weight. They're great friends, but they won't understand or support my decision to "give up" and "give in" to WLS.
So, basically, I'm doing this on my own. At some point I will have to tell people, but for now, I don't want to fight that battle. I want to focus on pre-op, post-op, and adapting to a new lifestyle. I don't want stress or distractions from F&F.
Has anyone basically done this alone? How did you get through it emotionally, mentally, and physically? Support group? Therapy? These forums?
I hope I don't sound rude saying this, but I'm not looking for advice on how to get F&F on board with my decision. I'm seeking advice on how to get through this alone.
    Thank you in advance :-)

I'm not telling a soul. The only people who know are my medical team and the wonderful people here on this forum.
Adjusting to my new lifestyle will be difficult enough. I don't want to also go through the emotional turmoil of dealing with unsupportive people and their unwelcome opinions.
Will things change a year or two down the road? I don't know, but I'll cross that bridge if or when I feel the need to open up.

OMG! I am 10 days post op and this is EXACTLY what I was going to write. I had surgery on a Tuesday and thought I'd be able to go back to work the next Monday. No siree. I had to leave after 3 hours. I go back half day tomorrow and I hope I can make it through. It's the beginning of the semester and there's lost to do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm newly sleeved, so my answer is a short-term one. I knew I'd be tired after surgery, but I'm surprised by how much I am tired. I have spurts of energy throughout the day, but I have to take a 2-3 hour nap every afternoon. I'm nervous about returning to work because of it.

I returned to work today. I put on pants for the 1st time since surgery (I've been wearing dresses and sweat pants for the past 4 weeks). They were wayyyyy too big! I tried on another pair. TOO BIG! I decided to try on a pair that I couldn't get past my hips 2 months ago. TOO BIG! Finally, I tried on a pair that I couldn't get past my thighs 2 months ago. THEY FIT! Better yet, the waist already has room to spare.
Looks like I'll be wearing dresses until it gets too cold, and then it'll be time to shop!

Once I made my decision, I was ready, so I can't help you with the wishy-washy stuff.
No one at work knows why I was out of work other than HR. Before I left on FMLA, my boss made the comment that he hopes I'm okay but doesn't want to be nosey. He was hinting around to try and find out why I was out, but I was vague and just said I was fine and everything would be okay. I only see him once a month, so when I see him next, I'll probably be down about 45lbs. I don't *think* he'll comment on my weightloss, but if he does, I'll say "thank you" and move the conversation in a different direction.
If my employees ask why I was out, I'll say hiatal hernia repair. If they comment about my weightloss, I'll tell them the partial truth: exercise and a proper diet.

CLN.BK reacted to Sajijoma in Today I am officially not "plus sized" what a colossal NSV for me!
I went shopping today because I desperately needed pants that fit. I wasn't sure what would fit so I tried on 16's and they were too big. Then I tried on 14's and they were kinda loose. I thought just for jiggles I'd try on some 12's and they fit! I was so shocked I actually broke down crying in the changing room. I have always been good at keeping my emotions locked down tight, but in there at that moment, I totally lost it and started bawling and LOUD. The changing room attendant knocked on the door and asked if I was ok. It took me awhile, but I managed to get the words out that I was ok and that I had found out I was a smaller size than I thought I was. I'M sure she thought I had lost my ever loving mind, but for me, this is a monumental thing. I had been an overweight kid and an obese adult, my entire life! The size I put on and zipped up, I NEVER had been that size. The closest I had to being that size was a size 11 juniors in 4th grade, so here I am, over 30yrs later and I am finally smaller than I was in 4th grade. It was monumental. I also discovered why it's important to check the price tag before falling in love with a pair of pants because $115 for a pair of pants I probably won't get more than a couple months wear out of was just too much, so I had to put them back. Broke my heart, but I did go on to find other 12's and some 14's that worked and I am officially not plus sized anymore. I can shop in the regular section with all the cute clothes!❤️ From 32/34 and some 36 down to a size 12 in less than a year...all I can say is wow! Thanks RNY for giving me a life I didn't know was attainable!

I'm only 3 weeks post-op, but I had an "Aha!" moment today.
I was reading health and wellness articles online, and one article regarding junk food had a picture of several different donuts. In the past, that picture would have triggered an intense I-have-to-eat-5-donuts-right-now type of craving. I would have walked to Dunkin Donuts or the bakery, bought a dozen, and eaten them all by the end of the day. When I saw the donut picture today, nothing happened. I simply read the article and then moved on to the next one. Like a normal person.
