I have heard a lot of people that have no problems with carbonation and some that do. If you don't hurt after having a sip or two, it's probably fine. I tend to go with all things in moderation as long as there are no ill effects.

I've now hit a stall as well. Two weeks post op today and scale hasn't moved in two days. So I'll see how long this lasts.

I was allowed to try eggs in the puréed food stage so I cooked basically a sunny side egg and mashed it with a fork til it was good and floppy(like I fed my babies when they were eating mushy foods). It went well for me, but some people have a really hard time with egg especially in the beginning so if it doesn't work, table it for awhile and try again later.

Carbonated beverages are very much debated on this site with folks feeling strongly about both sides of the argument. Regardless though, I would say that at 2 weeks post-op, it is definitely too soon. It will hurt. Don't do it.

I'm 9 months post op and just recently had my first carbonated beverage... a half a beer after playing my first hockey game in 15 years. No issues with it, but have zero plans to make it a regular thing since drinking calories is not my thing. Obviously calories aren't a concern with Coke Zero, but I'd be worried about the acidity and gas that close to surgery.

I asked the same stupid question so don't feel bad at all. I'm stalled, (I think, havent weighed in a few days) and then upon Googling I noticed that it's a very common concern, especially around the 3 week mark. However, I can tell in how my clothes are fitting that I'm doing just fine. Do read @@Inner Surfer Girls link; great info from her there.

It's not advised ever to drink carbonated beverages because it can do damage to your pouch, but I don't know of any surgeon anywhere who is going to tell you it is ok at 15 days post op mainly because your stomach is still healing and that fresh suture line will never be able to hold up to the acidity of that soda nor to the gas from the carbonation. It's really just a bad idea.

Thanks @@Inner Surfer Girl! I haven't heard of a stall this soon in. I will try to focus on getting enough Protein because I'm doing everything else right, especially my h2o intake.

My post op pain was horrific!! I couldn't imagine feeling better even though that's what my nurses told me. I stayed in the hospital an extra day in order to manage my pain. Laying down hurt, rolling over in bed was awful and trying to get out of bed I almost always needed help from a nurse. However, it does indeed improve. I am 10 days post op and I am sore of I bend too much and sometimes turning in bed will send a sharp pain straight through my abdomen. Hang in there!!

I made deviled eggs for my family last night and the only part that agreed with me was the filling,which is the best part !!!

I too was very gurgly in the first several days but it does pass. My bowl movements were interesting too. The gas was so uncomfortable.

@@taracutch I totally understand, felt the same way but I'm 11 days out now and feel so much better. Hang in there!

I had excruciating pain with the tiniest sips of Water no matter if it was warm or cold. Every time I drank Water, I felt like I was going to die. A pain I had NEVER known before. It would frighten both my husband, children, and myself. The intensity was almost horrifying. I did research and found out that it was not unique to me. Others were and had experienced the same. Someone said that adding about 3 to 4 drops of organic lemon juice per 8 oz would increase the ph of the water from acidic to alkaline. I tried it and it worked. All the pain of drinking water disappeared. Hope it helps.

I have become very aware and sensitive to people I am close to who still struggle with these issues. My brother and my best friend are both considerably overweight. When I'm out with either one of them I make an effort to ask for a table instead of a booth so they'll be more comfortable. I remember what it was like to not fit in a booth!

One year ago today I stepped out on faith and made the decision to put my health and well-being first. I deserved and my family deserved the best me I could be. I am healthier and happier than I have ever been and; at 62... this is just the beginning! ????????

I'm almost 9 months post op! I can't believe it. I feel great. I'm exercising, BUT...the scale does not seem to be moving anymore. I've been at 245 (down from 323 on surgery day) for almost 2 months.
