****OFFICALLY WEIGHED IN AT THE SMALLEST WEIGHT I'VE EVER BEEN MY ADULT LIFE!!!**** I had to all caps that because one its super exciting and two.. Its my birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! I'm 25 today. I always told myself I would be where I wanted to be in life before 25 but go figure.. Didnt happen but I'm feeling wonderful and I have a wonderful life! Before surgery I weighed 276. When I went home 3 days later I weighed 286. Also.. today I'm 1 week post op!! Ive learned not to be ashamed of the numbers on the scale because it doesn't defined me as a person. I'm working towards new things and couldn't be more HAPPY!! Sorry if I'm over excited but my birthday is always a good one and all this excitement together is too much goodness. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!! I post everything and all updates on my Instagram if you want to follow my story!!

Today I met my surgeon and now the fun begins! I'm required to do a 3 month supervised diet, and I surprised the doctor, because I started this in November and Friday is my 3rd and final appointment! He said that is great and is kind of fast tracking to my Surgery date! Most likely it will be at the end of March or the beginning of April!
I have to see a hematologist because 3 yrs ago I had bilateral pulmonary emboli and they never found out why I had these, so he said it's better to be safe than sorry!
Next Monday I meet with the dietician and go to my lifestyle changing class!
I also need an EGD due to reflux and to see if I have a hiatal hernia.
    Then my psych appointment.
Most of it will be done this month!
    I'm so excited!
I was supposed to have RNY about 4 yrs ago, but I left my husband, and I had too much going on to do it.
Now I can say that I already lost 220 lbs, when I left him!
So, I hope to meet some people on here that are having surgery around April. I'd like to have support and to give support!
Well, I'm including my before picture because now the race starts!

I am 4 weeks post op and for the last week and a half my sugar levels have been 119 or lower!!! Doc says that I can stop taking insulin, but I still have to check and to see if it gets up to 141 to inject. So far all is good and I am beyond thrilled! To all those Neigh Sayers that told me this surgery wouldn't be good for me.....UP YOURS!!!

I'm happy you wrote this post and it's good that your acknowledge the things that your doing wrong. I haven't had the surgery yet I go on the 8th of this month, but I feel you need to look back at where you were and how far you've come. You can lose that 40 lbs, you've done it once just go back to the basics. Drink your shakes with a lean dinner and eat smaller portions, I'm sitting here now and all I smell is pizza which I LOVEEEEE but I'm sipping on my Protein it's just a matter of how bad I want to succeed. You lost 144 pounds!!!! That's amazing.... I know you can turn things around don't give up!

Your weight will vary during the day. So generally I weigh myself first thing in the morning butt naked using a very accurate and repeatable scale. When I put my clothes on (shoes, wallet, pants, shirt, coat etc) it can easily add 5 pounds to my weight. Also my weight will vary due to the weight of my meals and drinks.
The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.
Weight loss is achieved after surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes. One thing to do now at this stage is to assess your protein intake. Your protein requirement is met by a combination of the protein from your meals combined with the protein from your supplements (protein shakes, protein bars). Since your meal volume is beginning to increase, that also means that the amount of protein from meals is increasing, especially if you concentrate on consuming high protein meals. Therefore you could be able to reduce your reliance on supplements and the calories they contain. I went from 3 Protein Shakes a day, down to 2, then 1 and finally zero when my meal volume increased to 1 cup per meal at a year and a half.

Today is the day. I ended up choosing premier brand Protein shakes. IMO.. the chocolate shakes taste just like the Yoo-hoo brand chocolate milk. So it works for me.
Anyone else starting their diet today ? I can use some recipe ideas.
    My diet consist of
    3 Protein Shakes
    1 high Protein snack
    1 meal.

And I am wearing size 18 jeans! I grabbed them out of the closet along with a pair of 20s (I've been in 22-24s for the last 3 months) and tried them on on a whim. I figured that the 18s would be a no go but they fit like a glove!

My surgery is Monday and hopefully all will go well. I packed my own blanket and pillow for my own comfort . I normally do not get cold and always hot but since I lost 22lbs since i started my journey i find that i get colder now. I guess its up to how you feel and what you want to bring.

GettingKimback reacted to BaileyBariatrics in First rule of exercise: Make it fun!
Starting an exercise program is easy. Staying with it — not so much. Don’t be a statistic! Twenty-five percent of people who start an exercise program quit the first week. Another 25 percent quit within the first six months.
Let’s face it, exercise is typically not on the top of our priority list and is sometimes seen as a dreaded chore. Confusion about where to start and what to do can be a little daunting. The old misconception of “no pain no gain” is not realistic anymore. If people push themselves too hard and too fast they will most likely hit a wall or even get hurt and will become discouraged.

I recommend making exercise fun again! Don’t worry about trying to get in the best workout in 30 minutes to an hour, but look at it as an activity that permeates your day and seeps into your daily activities. Even a five- or 10-minute brisk walk can help boost your energy and help you become more productive.
Recently I received my very first fitness tracker for Christmas. It is so much fun to join challenges with your friends! Being realistic, I set my goal to 8,000 steps a day, knowing that I am at my desk much of my day. I set up reminders on my fitness tracker for 10 minutes before every hour change to remind me to get up and move. Even if you don’t have a fitness tracker, have challenges with your family, kids, etc. Fun challenges might be seeing who can do the most jumping jacks, pushups or sit-ups in one minute or who can jump rope the longest.
You don’t need heavy equipment or have to join a gym to incorporate an exercise routine in your life. Just use the best piece of equipment available: you! Take the chore out of it, and have fun again! Small changes make a big impact over time. Every minute adds up throughout the day. Keep in mind that in those minutes make sure to get your heart rate slightly elevated to a point that you can take a few breaths while talking and aren’t completely winded or gasping for air; that might be too strenuous. Walk with a purpose, as if you are on a new mission to achieve a new you. Throw away the scale and focus on how you feel, and the inches will start to come off. Lifestyle change is not a quick fix to see overnight results; it takes time to build healthy habits. Slow and steady wins the race!
