I don't think it makes a difference, in the end so long as you have a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. Though it *may* take a little longer this far out.
In maintenance, I had a couple times when I gained like 5-6 lbs after a period of eating too much or a period of decreased activity. The first time this happened was maybe 11 mnths post op and it took me a week to lose it. The last time it happened, it took me almost 2 months (at almost 2 yrs post op). It was much easier to go low cal before than it is now, probably cuz I'm used to eating more now?
Anyhoo, its not impossible, Keto/low carb or not.
    Good Luck!

I have pcos, and I take metformin, I dont have any of the co morbidities, but my bmi is a 43. I am not exactly sure why I was approved for stage 2, if it was because i have a bmi over 40 and been over weight for a long period of time and had attempted and failed so many times or what. I think your doc is just being lazy. You could drive over to my doctor. Its about an hour and a half drive, but she would do it for you. her name is Dr. Rachel Bickling at Jefferson Healthcare In port Townsend. She is a great doctor. and Jefferson healthcare hospital will pay for the NUT also because medicaid dont cover it.

Personally I play with my Macros often. The best results for me so far has been to up my fat to 55% (60 ish G) carbs 10% (25G) Protein 35% (88G)This is for my 1000 calorie intake. I am almost 5 mo post Gastric. I had been eating more veggies and stopped loosing, so I did research and decided to give it a go with more fat and started loosing more weight and working out less. I was working out an hr a day everyday. I feel fuller now and have more energy. Read up on Ketogenic type diets for better weight loss results. p.S I DONT EAT COMPLEX CARBS, NO bread, RICE GRAINS, or Beans, lentils. Just meat, veggies, some fruit, and nuts and seeds, plus dairy.

It is pretty typical to have the RNY when there is more weight to lose. And sometimes, doctors prefer it because it is sort of the "gold standard". You will lose more weight with this surgery than with the others. It's even quite common for patient's who have had one type of surgery come back and eventually have the RNY. It's done now--stop looking back. Make the most of it and you'll do great. It will really depend on how you follow the plan now. It is only a tool. It has some magic the first year but eventually that magic wears off and you really need to put in the work so it's best to get in the habit of doing that work now which will pay off exponentially! Best of luck to you and congratulations for making the decision to live longer and better!

I had surgery 2/1 just had my 6wk check up. NUT said meals should be around 3/4 c of chewed up food lol. Not sure how to measure that. But she said 2 c of salad is about 1/4 c chewed. So can eat up to that but eat 2 bites of Protein to 1 bite veggies

Well, I had been loosing more prior to surgery. Granted my body needed to loose more then. I lost 75lbs so far, only 15 of that is post off though. I guess if I continue to loose that over 8-9 months I may hit my goal. Its frustrating seeing ppl who lost 30-45 pounds in a month, or 100 in 3 mo. I just feel as if I am failing, I guess I need to stop comparing my lost to others. Which is the hardest to do right now.

I had surgery feb. 1 2017 and I feel the same way. I cant eat regular food yet, in the soft stage still. but I too can eat about that amount. Not sure if it is because i drink too much Water too quickly and stretched my pouch already or what.

Start the liver shrink diet, its usually 1,000 cal diet. High Protein, low carb. You will be hungry, regardless.

I'm on Medicaid (apple Health) my insurance is with Amerigroup.
I have been approved for stage 2 with them. I have been going to the NUT twice monthly on my 6mo. medical diet plan, and meeting with my referring doc once a month.
    I got stage 2 approval April 18,
I go to my first appt at U.W on Tue. for a consultation with the registered Nurse.not sure what all they will do there. Or from then on out.
I already did a psych evaluation.
I already lost my 5% weight.
Looking for other ppl. that have , or are going through this processes at this facility. that might be able to answer questions, or want to chat about the process.
I am curious, if im approved for stage 3 surgery, how long would this faculty take typically to schedule surgery.Any one know????
Any did they send you home with Vitamins, my NUT said they will?

I did everything on there to do list so far, upper gi, met with their social worker, had upper endoscopy, met with their NUT, went to the P.T got cleared on every thing so far but have to go back for another session of P.T before she signs me off for being cleared for surgery. Then once that is done I can have my meeting with the surgeon to see if I am good for surgery or not. If so then I will have it scheduled in 1-2 months. I dont go back to P.T until sept. 6th. So if im lucky I think I can get surgery at the earliest by late oct- nov.

All I needed was clean undies, Chapstick, and my outfit for going home. I do recommend bringing a phone charger, just in case. I didn't need mine. My hospital actually provided Chapstick, but I would have been sad if I had left it. I had trouble concentrating to read, so I didn't read my book at all.
For women, Aunt Flo loves to show up during times of stress. The hospital will happily get you a pad if you need one, but bring your own if you prefer.
