    Severe back pains!

I'm pretty sure that I passed a stone about 5 weeks postop although I never sought help. My back hurt for three days and it hurt to go to the bathroom. TMI alert: after about 7 hours of overnight agony, I wiped and there was blood ... I assumed I was starting my period (ugh) but immediately all my pain was gone.... Definitely call....I didn't and now I feel like I have undocumented issues. I

    Extremely Sad

So very sorry for your loss
  3. I did ask about the changes and I get why...I am already at 15g per meal. And 15g in one snack and zero in my other ( protein only ). I'm not sure how many fewer carbs I can eat. I track all my food and showed him. So apparently I do need the insulin. It just stinks that the weight gain along with it threw me for such a loop. I'm going up on my workouts hoping hat helps some.
  4. Kind of have myself a little concerned. Two weeks ago my endocrinologist put me on more of an insulin dose than I had been for the 6 months since my bypass. My blood sugar numbers have certainly been coming down. But I've not changed anything about my eating. And I've gained 3 pounds in two weeks. I've had to do less than 10 regular units most days....and I'm on 40u of tresiba Anyone have any advice?
  5. My bypass was without any ill effects

Did you have WLS? The audacity of some.

I agree! I was in denial. And I didn't even learn my lesson until a few years later when I almost died from diabetic ketoacidosis. Thankfully I've had a "come to Jesus" talk with myself and got courage to do what I needed. So far, the only complication I have has been in my eyes and thats improving.
  8. You look amazing! Remember you see yourself every day. Others that only see you occasionally will notice. I see quite a difference I'm down 78 pounds in 6 months and I also don't see it. But I feel better and my son who hasn't seen me since Christmas noticed in a profile picture of mine. So don't get discouraged. Also, the sizes haven't gone down like I thought they would but I'm WAY more comfortable in my clothes
  9. The real question is whether you've tried a few different methods of weight loss that haven't worked. For me I tried a very strict portion diet ( lost 17 pounds that found me quickly). I did 3 months of weight loss pills and lost a whopping 6 pounds and dealt with two months of severe ( I mean unreal severe) nightmares that plunged me into a severe depression. I carb counted and did shakes. Nothing was effective for very long. So if those and other methods haven't worked you can honestly say that a WLS would be a good choice. I know that I'd be in a worse place mentally if I hadn't made this life-changing decision! Good luck on your journey!!!!!

Did you have WLS? The audacity of some.

9 years ago I was sick, my diabetes was out of control but for some reason my weight dropped dramatically. Like from 250 to 120 in the space of about 18 months. I was in awful shape but slim. My gall bladder went during that time and I had it removed. With insulin I was able to gain back to a healthier weight but then it didn't stop. I told different people last fall that I was having surgery. One woman I told has struggled with weight as well and asked me about it very genuinely, but then added, but it didn't "take" the last time you had it done. I had to gently explain that I hadn't had surgery in the past. She said that I was all the talk back then and the consensus was I had sleeve surgery. I assured her this was my first rodeo with surgery. She was embarrassed. She was the last peripheral person I told. She keeps in touch with me and she's doing things a different but equally difficult way. I also get angry when people think this is the easy way. I want to say "yep, I allowed an invasive surgery just for kicks". And then stare them down.

    Hair nu

When my hair loss started I began biotin tablets. Economically better and it was only a couple weeks before I noticed the hair loss stopped. I also tried to up my actual protein consumption

    Protein Shakes

I use the syrups. There's a brand called skinny syrups (Jordan's skinny syrups) that has a foam tipping you can pump onto decaf coffee. I also took half teaspoons of dry sugar free jello mix. Oh my how that makes things taste wonderful! Also, a dropin water flavoring stick can change things up for you. My favorite thing so far: Vanilla protein shake powder. 1/2 teaspoon sugar free cheesecake pudding mix 1/2 teaspoon raspberry sugar free jello mix. Been it up and put over ice. Amazing!
  13. For me I was in pain anytime I tried to walk. My back would seize up and my knees were in constant pain. I took at least two Aleve a day and was terrified after because we aren't allowed that pain reliever anymore. After about 20 pounds I was moving around one day and noticed my back DID NOT hurt. Now...after almost 80 pounds in 6 months, my back isn't bothering me at all!!!!

    Any Pittsburgh people?

Popping in! Anyone have any updates?
  15. I had bypass so not sure how it is for VSG. Three months out I got sick one night. Thought my dinner didn't agree but after 4 hours of vomiting I realized it must be the flu. I tried all night to get liquids in but because my muscles were still newly healed they weren't sure how to react...the result was muscle spasms that caused dry heaving. I did go to the ER the next afternoon and was given fluids and an anti nausea med. Don't wait if you can't keep liquids down for more than 12 hours. Go to emergency care! When I was in the ER they did an X-ray to make sure my "new insides" were still in place.
