  1. At 1.5 years post-op I'm currently going back and forth between 194 and 199. I would still like to lose 25 more pounds.

In hindsight, I should have gotten the bypass. I fight with the fat person in my brain Every. Damn. Day! I am strongly considering a revision for reflux and to make eating sweets a punishment.

I still feel fat, I still hate myself. People are nicer, men touch me 😳 platonically of course, but it still weirds me out. I don't do chips, bread or fries. I do eat ww toast and a taco shell on occasion.

I still have restriction. The bad foods are the slippery ones... but, when you put your mind to it you can eat very little and feel satisfied.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. 💖

Thank you for the update. I'm still on the medication at 9 months out but I find I can go a day in between without it now. My dr thinks I may be able to come off it totally after 2 years post op. It doesn't bother me much being on the meds and he says there is no long term issues with it.

I should have reached out to you sooner. You seemed unhappy last time I messaged you. I wish you felt more positive about where you are. Are you talking to a professional? You've come so far and have done so well that I wonder if you got to your goal weight you would still have concerns.

I would also like to lose 20 or so more pounds and I plan to push to get there but if it crawls back up after I won't let it get to me. I'm 2 weeks away from a breast reduction so I'm going to step up the meal replacement protein shakes and really watch my carbs. Dieting is such a mind game though, every time I try to make a push for weight loss it seems to backfire and I have cravings and eat worse.

Would you consider doing more protein shakes for meals? At least for a bit to jump start weightloss again?

That's a good idea, I should switch back to my morning coffee shake for a month and see what happens... I think my down moods might be cycle related, I am going to see if maybe my estrogen is low.

Good luck on the breast reduction recovery.

  2. 9 months post op and 65 lbs. down. I am happy with this weight, I feel really good here, normalish...

I can no longer "shop" in my own closet. I am in size L strechy pants and size 14 jeans. I still grab the XL/16 when I go shopping, because I'm convinced it's all vanity sizing.

I need to work on treats and social food gatherings. I allow myself too much. I am determined to get to goal over the next few months, so I will be changing my evening snack, and saying no to the Halloween treats that will be in the office over the next few weeks.

Things I am still doing right:

    - Tracking my food...honestly

    - Waiting 1/2 hour after eating, to drink

    - Focusing on protein

    - No chips or white bread in the house

    - 15 min walk during the week

    - Eating out less

Way to go!!!! I like how you listed your positives!! To many of us focus on our negatives. You sound like you have a good handle on your stuff. KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

  3. I've lost one pound in four weeks. Not a great update for the second month in a row. I care, but I don't. I think I might be slightly depressed, I self soothe and check out with food at night. It's my coping mechanism, the only one I've known my entire life.

The sleeve has made me much more aware of the behavior I need to work on, but I just generally feel meh, at a time in my life where everything is going extremely well. I need something to look forward to, something to focus on, but I'm not interested in expending the energy. I am still doing alot of things right, I am just choosing an evening snack that is a slider.

I could be happy at this weight for the rest of my life, but I am absolutely terrified of gaining.

If you want your evening slider, then have it. But do pay attention to the portion size and keep that the same. The extra handful can become insidious!

  4. I feel like a bariatric toddler, too young to be a vet, too old for the same questions over and over again. I'm gonna throw a fit.

It's like weight loss Groundhog day: stalls, vitamins, and is this normal?

Although, if everybody used the search function there would be fewer active posts, which would make the forum no fun. The cycle continues..

  5. I just finished my 5 month pics/measurements. I am only 6 pounds away from Onderland!! Hopefully I can hit that by the end of month 6. I can't really see a difference between these pics and last months, but, my measurements tell me I have lost 5" from my waist.

On a side note... I saw the doc for my GB results yesterday, I have stones and sludge, and a fatty liver. 😒 The best diet for a fatty liver is the keto diet, so this month I will be working towards eliminating sugar, white flour, and fried items from my diet.

YAY!! 6#'s is really close!! Are you thinking of getting your GB taken out? Easy Peacy for me. I was 24 when I had mine removed. Good Luck

I was totally gungho for getting it removed, but someone on BP mentioned that having it removed causes weight gain. I haven't had any episodes since the first one either, that pain is terrible. I have been referred to a surgeon, and I guess in the mean time, I will do a little more research on pros and cons.

  6. Pretty sure I had a gallstone pass last night. We had chicken fried steak for dinner. Saturday is my cheat day and hubby cooks them once in a great while.

A little while after eating I got this pain in the middle of my chest. It continued to get worse, no matter what I did. I got nauseous, sweaty, and the pain spread to my back. I wanted to die. Then all of a sudden the pain just stopped. I am terrified of that feeling coming back.

  7. Captain's Log - Day 119:

My scale just told me I have lost a total of 50 lbs. today! I am only 12 pounds away from being under 200. 😁

Congrats! You and I have similar stats - I've also lost 50 pounds post-up and I'm waiting for 10 more to drop so I can hit 199! I can't wait - hopefully for both us it will arrive sooner rather than later.

  8. People are starting to notice. I'm 28 lbs down, so far so good. I am afraid of long term failure, this head hunger is a real beast! :72_imp:

Congrats!! Do not let the food get to you. I am worried about that too, when my pre-op diet comes.

  9. Ugh... 3  week stall.  I have decided to wait until Sunday to weigh myself again.

  10. Excited to fly home today! Today is the first day I feel better.

Good news! Have a safe trip home.

  11. Just got back from flouroscopy. I came back to a nice clean room with fresh sheets. I have been cleared for ice chips and liquid.

  12. So far day 2 I have paced in my room and bit. The pain is more like a stuck chip with heartburn kinda feeling. I am super thirsty, so I have been swishing and spitting water. Also, I brought a heating pad, highly recommended!

  13. I'm alive! It's done, I have terrible gas pain in my chest.

  14. am flying to Puerto Vallarta tomorrow, so I have just added my before pics. As some of the vets have suggested, I will also be writing down my measurements today. I am getting excited and nervous!

  15. Just bought a scale and weighed myself. Wow! I haven't weighs myself for over a year. I quit smoking and started vaping in October 2015, I have gained 16 pounds since then. This is the heaviest I have ever been. :(
