  3. So I know it's not even November yet but the silly season for me has started! As of the last month Weddings, Hens, 30ths, and then for the rest of the year - work Xmas, friends Xmas, family Xmas- it's all happening. Does anyone have any tips on how not to get tangled up in celebration? These events are so much a part of what I love about life in general, so not attending is not an option. Tips on how you keep to one glass of bubbles and not 10? .... anything? Cheers Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. I was able to have coffee after two days. Watch the milk though - it may make u feel a bit sick in the tummy if you have too much. I have always liked my coffee strong - but even more so now. As such I limit to one strong coffee each morning as my 'treat' - besides I'd get the sack if I skipped it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 17 - due to very irregular but extremely heavy periods. I once bled for 3mnths straight and finally told my mum. I was put on the pill which masked those symptoms but of course my weight climbed. At 26 they new more about PCOS and when I went in for a routine pap - the new gp took an interest in my story asking all the usual questions. I started metformin and also a weight loss journey - a slow one. I look forward to shedding the weight post surgery now at age 32 and hoping for a normal cycle. For now it is every 2 months for about 5 days but it comes and goes as it pleases sometimes. I also often feel my ovaries having little pings of pain. Like they are trying to work or doing something. Still not sure if I should recommence on metformin as I was advised to stop while my stomach heals. Probably due to visit the gp again. Wouldn't it be nice if gps stayed put - I hate retelling my life story every 12mnth. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fluids

Hey all When you drink Protein shakes, do you count them in your Water consumption? I'm guessing this is how some of you get your protein and water in each day. I'm falling short on both. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Hey there. I joined curves - I just needed it to be sure I wouldn't slack off. If you can afford to join it definitely couldn't do any harm. Try to pick somewhere you feel comfortable. The place I go is quite and feels like a second home. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fluids

Yeah that's a valid point. I might have to swap out a food snack for a shake that is a bit higher in Protein. I'd way rather eat a cube of cheese but sacrifices need to be made it seems. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Watermelon treat

Actually this turned out yum. It had pawpaw in it which is very wet. Soaked up the Protein powder! Great tip thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ok a second question- if you were to add Protein to your Water bottle- would u treat it as a - meal or a snack or a beverage. For Instance enjoy my egg at breakfast- and then I'm not to eat for 3hrs. But if I also made a Protein shake to sip over the morning would that be considered drinking or eating in your opinion? Happy to count the calories but would not like to be 'grazing' between meals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. I'm am big because I loved to eat in volume. Small amounts left me hungry. Real hungry - not head hungry. Even healthy food like salad and veg, I wanted huge amounts of to make the grumble go away. Even worse if fast food was involved. Now I'm satisfied by a small portion be it healthy or a treat. I still feel real hunger but it is satisfied easily and goes away long enough that I'm not always thinking of food. I also catch head hunger so much easier now and rarely get that craving type hunger for really unhealthy food. This has made all the good things I was capable of, so much easier. Also after surgery nothing seems scary. Like joining a gym which I had always been too scared to do. As soon as I was cleared I went and joined. After being seen in a hospital gown, my tights and long top seemed just fine. Good luck with your decision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    What's on your plate?

My day has been - Breakfast- low fat low carb zucchini slice or yoghurt Snack - low fat cottage cheese with a few chunks of fruit or curried egg on cracker lunch - something meaty - mince, mince slice, chicken breast, turkey meat Snack - humus with cracker dinner - up to trying some steak, pork and chicken skewers. Also tried steamed fish, mince and veggies and some steamed greens. Trying very hard not to eat after dinner. Opting of a decaf coffee with a little milk if I fee like must have something Colouring in helps distract me if I get a bit munchy later at night Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Bruises

Omg I have just discovered an enormous bruise on the back of my thigh. Is it normal to bruise easy post surgery? I'm 5 weeks out. I joined curves and had noticed some little bruises on the front of my legs and on my arms which I assumed was from the machines but this one just found is scary big. Bruises

I was on blood thinners for 3 weeks post op, but would not have had any for over 3 weeks. I'll call tomorrow but I'm just surprised nothing hurt yet it is enormous. And I'm sure it wasn't there yesterday- but I don't normally to at my back/butt. 22. I can promise you with this, you will only open up if truly feel comfortable. I tell my friends everything but not this. And even when I wanted to, I couldn't get the words out. Now I'm just telling people in the moment and if it feels right. Also since I feel so well, I'm so glad I didn't tell everyone. My main reason for wanting to share is cuz I was worried I might be really sick and out of sorts in which case you would have to tell but really I'm so fine so one notices I'm different just eating healthy. Frequent hunger

Yes apparently we are the lucky ones- who still feel some hunger. Many feel none and so as you said forget to eat and don't get their Protein. I had kinda hoped I would never feel hungry again but from the people I've spoken to- they say it is horrible to eat so often when u don't want it at all. So I will take their word for it and be glad I'm recovering well and still get some enjoyment from eating my healthy small meals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Frequent hunger

Hey there. You say you feel hungry after a few hours. On my plan I am encouraged to eat every three hours. Up to six small meals per day. This advice is so ur body never has a chance to get too hungry or be overfilled. I certainly am a little hungry again at the three hour mark and enjoy my next small meal so I don't think what u feel is odd. If it was after 30mins that might be a worry. Also soft foods will pass quicker like yoghurt or Protein shakes. No doubt you are still on soft foods so you might find that this reduces when you can have heavier food.
