Wow im a newbie here and i learned more from this post than i did from the health care office i go to sure they answer your questions but they wait till you have one to give the information out. Plus learning this from someone who has gone through it helps alot, my nut tells me her meal plan for me and only offers what is on paper nothing else unless i ask.

Steel can be stretched, wood can be stretched, bones can be stretched. Given that, I find it very hard to believe that the soft tissue comprising your stomach can't be stretched . . . is my stomach somehow less "stretchy" than steel, bone, or wood? I doubt it! I think it would be extremely difficult to stretch it to its former size though.
On the other hand, can Water stretch it? Nope, liquids go right through the pyloric valve and cannot stretch your stomach, so no worries there.

@@sybilvane7 at 15 days out today and yes I'm feeling better though the emotions do get to me sometimes. But I got the clearance today to get back to the gym which will help me a lot plus I've expanded my support circle just a bit by finding a nutritional counselor who is going to be working with me around the issues centered around food not just what I need to be eating (like the bariatric nutrionist). I have so much more to work on than the pounds I need to loose. Thank you for your support and hope your recovery is going well.

Aye, but ignoring butthurt is also technically burying your head in the sand. I have done some adult teaching in my life and have to come to the realisation that for those who choose to bury their heads, it's their heads, and it's their sand. If we really cared about those we're are advising, we won't let discussions deteriorate. Some of the 'Advisors' just come of as being self righteous *insert whatever term*. Some of those being advised come of as whiny little *whatevers*. Surely there has to be a middle ground if what we really care about is progress for everyone? If some people want to fail, advise, move on.. The problem is that when we move on, we carry sentiments from the last 'destined to fail' person onto the next person asking a similarly dumb looking (but very innocent) question.
We answer with a terse or dismissive answer and wonder why the person asking is pissed off?

I was tempted almost beyond what I could bear when I first arrived here, and a certain "vet" decided to jump all over me with both her feet in righteous indignation, but I held my tongue, so to speak. I merely pointed out that she lacked a sense of humor. That seemed to do the trick, as she has stedfastly ignored me since then.

Started day one of pureed foods yesterday. It went well.
    Breakfast
One scrambled egg with 1/2 teaspoon of cheese
    snack
    Protein shake
    lunch
2 oz of pureed meatloaf with beef broth (brought my magic bullet to school)
    1/4 cup of cauliflower bleneded
    Snack
    Protein Shake
    dinner
1/2 Cup of Refried Beans mixed with 1 teaspoon of cheese and 1 tablespoon of salsa
Here is the deal, at lunch and dinner I felt like I could have consumed more, but I was not hungry. Will the sleeve give us some kind of sensation that says "hey, I have had enough"?
I have a friend that has a band and I could tell when he ate too much. He would need to go vomit in the bathroom. Is there a definite sign with the sleeve that we are going to be in trouble?
So far no issues with vomiting. That was my biggest fear with the procedure. I hate, hate, hate to throw up. Just want to make sure I know when my sleeve is "talking" to me.

Hi AllysonB during the whole progress I kept on top of my paperwork and made sure it was all completed. They require you to lose 5% of your body weight before they will schedule and I completed that before my consultation with my surgeon. They then submitted my paperwork the day after that consultaction and my insurance approved it the next morning. They knew I wanted to have my surgery before March but told me it would be in February. They called the day it was approved and scheduled me for January 18th! Drove into the city yesterday for all of my preoperative testing and am all ready for next week! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield MA and they said they usually have a fast turnaround. @@vegbeth - I was cleared to go back to gym after 4 weeks. I just did light workouts for two weeks and then week 6 started kicking things up. I worked with my NUT to make sure my diet was adequate for the extra work. I only increased my weights 10% per week until I hit failure and then would wait two weeks to check if I could do 10% more.
This will go by like a flash. The hardest part was week three with mush. I hate eating that slow, and had to use a plate warmer to keep my food less than horrible. But it was important to teach my stomach to eat again.

@@JamieLogical I can't wait to get back to working out! I don't have the energy now but I still have the desire. Kind of like I can't eat anything but still have the cravings! This early part of the healing process has taken away my one healthy coping mechanism. I keep reminding myself it's only temporary.

Hey everyone, I am 14 days post op and yesterday and today I have just felt super tired and lethargic. I literally just want to sleep all day. I'm getting in all of my Protein, Vitamins and liquids. I also have no issues from healing thus far. Any idea why I feel so fatigued and down?

As a new sleever, I'm wondering how I'm supposed to keep my calories up (I'm getting less than 500 in) when I can hardly get any food in. I'm just meeting my Protein and fluid goals can't imagine eating or drinking any more. Also, the doc has severely limited my exercise to gentle walking. Are you talking in regards to right after surgery or later on when you are more healed and approved to eat all and exercise?

VegBeth, it's normal to have sad feelings sometimes. You did all the smart things -- reached out to your therapist, posted here, etc.
If you can walk or do any form of gentle exercise, that can be a huge help.
I hope your beautiful kitty cat gives you some additional comfort as you continue to heal!

11 days out I sip constantly. I set my timer for 30 minutes after Breakfast, fill up my 20 oz water bottle and sip sip sip. When I get that down, set that timer again, have my next "meal", when it goes off and when I'm finished the timer goes back on. I do this all day from the minute I get up till I go to bed. I basically spend my whole day drinking Water or my Protein Shake. Would love to get a nap in once in a while but no time!

@@Sai - If you mean that you were drinking black coffee because of the "don't drink your calories' admonition, you were going overboard. A splash of lowfat or fatfree milk or whatever a few times a day is fine in my book. My own choice is canned, fatfree, evaporated milk, but I don't recall what made me go in that direction after surgery. I've whittled it to two tablespoons per cup from three because I do drink coffee through the day. (Two tbs of fat free evap is 25 cals.)
@@vegbeth - You're sure to get an okay to add a splash of real, no-sugar-added juices, but the amount may too minimal do give the flavor you want.

Its kind of silly that Im even concerned about eating much less food..But I guess after having an abusive and toxic relationship with food for the past 40 years, Im curious what my future holds. From the looks of it most of you are just eating normal portions. This has been my biggest issue all of my life, portion control... I actually eat fairly decent 80% of the time, I just eat too much and then when I eat the junk food it pushes me over the edge.
I think this surgery is EXACTLY what I have needed my whole life, as my body does not allow me to stick to a decent diet.

Since rec is legal in your state, I say absolutely try it. Oxycodone is bad news.
My suggestion is to go to a shop and tell them what you're looking for. They sell strains with a higher CBD content specifically for pain control. A nice CBD oil or tincture may be exactly what you need.
Doesn't hurt to go ask - find a shop with good reviews.
