Get PROFESSIONAL Help! In support group I met a woman who started drinking wine and became an alcoholic. She lost her husband and children in 2 years of this addiction and decided to attend AA Meetings to reestablish a relationship with her children. In the AA Meetings she polled the people and found out 15 in the group had WLS. 1 DIED a slow miserable death. So her warning to us was NEVER drink, it can cost you everything.

To break up the monotony of sweet Protein, put non flavored Protein in broth. I need that after getting a headache. Headache never came back.

Thank you everyone for your responses, I'm going to try each and everything you all mentioned, you're right I probably am dehydrated, I didn't drink a lot before surgery either, especially when dieting as lack of salt etc in my diet makes me feel like I don't need Water... I'm forcing in the 1L per day, but today I'm going to force myself to have 2! I can do this!!
I'm from the UK, we don't have Gatorade or Powerade, not where I am anyway (or I just haven't seen it in the store)
All I eat is a Protein shake for lunch, some Protein chips for a snack, and some home made protein dish containing chicken/pork/fish
I was a low bmi patient (35) weighed 260, last time I checked I was 216, I've never had any health problems, blood pressure problems etc everything prior to surgery was healthy, I really hope after surgery I suddenly have heaps of problems!
I'll be sure to let everybody know what the nurse says after the call - in case somebody else is suffering with a similar experience.. You guys are awesome, didn't expect so many replies thank you

Nurse here - It sounds like you are experiencing orthostatic hypotension <- fancy way to say your blood pressure drops when you stand. You may be dehydrated. Really work on upping your Fluid intake and see if that feeling improves. 1L is not enough. 2L is my daily goal. I don't always hit it but i try to get at least 1.5L
As for feeling sleepy after eating, I am much more sensitive to those post surgery. Anytime I eat I get sleepy for a little while

I am extremely proud of myself for staying strong and not giving in to temptation...I keep thinking about my prize at the end of the finish line! How did you guys feel, did you find the pre- op diet a breeze or fairly difficult to handle and/or stick with? What advice could you offer to get me through the next 2 weeks?!

I was away for a month on vacation, so didn't join the July 4th weight loss challenge. Back home again now (plus 5lb) and came looking here for the next one but don't see any posted. Did I miss it somewhere? Even though I haven't done well with these, I feel that they keep me somewhat accountable and really look forward to them. Thanks, all.

    I have muscles! Who knew!!!!??
I'll be hitting my 10 month post op Gastric Bypass date on July 21st! I can't believe I've lost 114 lbs in 10 short quick months! I am working hard to hit my goal by the one year surgiversary date, but if I don't then I'm not going to be too sad about it..... Cuz how can I be!?
I will say that losing the last 10 pounds are the hardest!
I may not be losing too fast as per the scale now, but I can definitely see a change in my body so I'm totally happy! !!

@@Inner Surfer Girl you'll appreciate this. I had a great first hand experience this morning.....I've sort of been bouncing around the same weight now for the last 5 days....not in my opinion a real stall, but my surgery was just 5/16 and since surgery I've lost "something" most everyday. so we can just call it a mini stall...............It just so happened that I just updated all my measurements on 7/18, just three days ago......So this morning I figured I'd just spot check a few measurements and in just three days I've lost a whole inch from my waist, another inch from my hips, and a half inch from each of my thighs!!! 3 days!! wow! I'll take that any day!!

So here I am in the midst of a 3 week stall. I eat much less than I used to, and certainly at enough of a deficit that the weight should be falling off week after week. I know this is normal, and I know it will pass. But it has got me thinking about how I felt in the past.
In the past, when I ate like this (bird-like, half portions, healthy choices) it was sheer misery. I'd count the minutes to my next meal or snack and fixate on the empty gnawing of my stomach. Then I would see the scale just SIT. STILL. No changes, no loss, nothing different, and then I would completely give up. Get in the car, drive to McDonalds, and get a 2 cheeseburger meal supersized with a coke and a chocolate shake for dessert.
I am ever so grateful for my lap band because not only is that type of binge absolutely out of the question, I don't feel miserable It's quite peaceful, really. Even though my loss is stalled it doesn't mean it's the end. It doesn't mean I've failed and it doesn't mean I have to go back to my old ways because it's useless living a life a deprivation with no results.
As much as I'd love to see the numbers fall on my scale, at least I know it will pass and I'll get through it, and I don't have to suffer from the white-knuckled denial I used to experience.
Just an observation. WLS is truly a game-changer.

In 16 months you have lost over 300 pounds?
(doing the Snoopy dance for person I don't even know!)
    WOW girl!!!
You need to write a book about your journey. I'll buy it. That will be your first $20.00 toward your skin removal surgery.
(tapping my foot... so when is the book going to be on the shelves... huh? huh?)

My sister lost over 300 pounds too. Surgery was the only way to get rid of the excess skin. For her, the extra skin caused sores, which for her meant that the skin removal was covered by insurance. Hope this helps!

Hey, at least she is planning to take a vacation!
My last manager would never take a vacation, sick day, or mental health day. He was a couple of years younger than me. He is dead.
Both your health and her vacation are important. If your business can't accommodate both then it sounds like you are seriously understaffed --- unfortunately, that seems to be the norm these days.
Frankly, I wouldn't change your plans.
