Hannah83 reacted to ConnieSB in OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE
It’s been a tough couple of weeks.. my surgery was 10/30/17. I’ve lost 90 lbs so far but I’ve been stalled for 12 days. I still struggle to get in enough Water every day.
I’m trying not to freak out. I workout 4-5 days a week. Walking and weightlifting. I’m eating 800-1,000 calories a day about 70 grams of Protein.
Advice appreciated my goal is drop another 70 lbs by my surgery anniversary.

Hannah83 reacted to michellemybelle in Band - what’s the skinny?
I had lapband surgery about 10 yrs ago and I love my band.its true now I am having a little problem. But it was due to me not chewing my food well because I had become complacent when eating. I did have a hernia in my esophogus but it was fixed. I love my band and the thought of losing it scares me. It worked great for me. I went from 212 lbs and went down to 118 lbs my normal weight. I recently went to 126 but it will go down. I would do it all over again if I had the chance. The fills are important and the follow up care too . I feel the band works if you work with it. It's a tool not a cure. I love my band but you must choose what's best for you.

Avoid all of the sugars and refined carbs. My doctor told me to eat Protein first until I reach 60-80 grams. Then move on to veggies. Carbs are last on the list. If you get your protein in you will barely be able to fit anything else in. Instead of having all the carbs, do your protein, delicious examples are below:
Steak
Turkey Bacon
Ham (high sodium however, moderate)
----mmm I love honey ham
Brat (high sodium however, moderate)
----heck cheesy brats are even good
Hot Dog (high sodium however, moderate)
Ground Beef
-----why not cook some ground beef, put a (little) bit of homemade spaghetti sauce using fresh and healthy produce, and skim milk cheese (voila a pasta-less spaghetti)
Turkey Sausage
Turkey in general
Rotisserie chicken
Fish
Shrimp
Crab
Lobster
eggs
Protein Shakes
Greek Yogurt
String Cheese
Almond Milk
And so many more!!!!!
Maybe its because I'm borderline anemic but I LOVEEE meat!!!!!
Spoil yourself but in a good way!! Experiment like the deconstructed spaghetti idea.
Make yourself a cauliflower crust pizza with loads of veggies and protein. Finding healthy recipes and learning some cooking skills can double as a healthy diet AND eliminating some of the boredom. Plus on your free time you can look up healthy recipes on Pinterest, more boredom gone out the window!!!!

Hannah83 reacted to Healthy_life2 in Back at the Gym!
I'm an old chick..No harm in looking and appreciating. Especially if it gets you to the gym.
My friend advised me against this.....Yes, its not good gym edicate.
I saw someone at the gym that could stay on the treadmill jogging for an hour. I wanted to see if I could do the same. I found a treadmill not directly next to him. I challenged myself to see if I could match or beat his pace etc....In my mind the race was on. Did this for a month. I bet this guy thought I was a stalker.

Betcha you aren't as old as me. I am as old as dirt, 72, I've got being a cougar on my bucket list, if I can lose enough weight and get enough energy. Oh well I can sit on the sidelines drooling, at my age they'll just think I can't control my saliva.I may have lost many things but not my mind, weight or my sense of humor[emoji13][emoji13][emoji13]

If he's truly at the, local gym, I'll drag my tired fat body out of bed, pull on my OSU sweatshirt, a pair of bicycle shorts, my cross-trainers and be right over. Sweet eye-candy and the only, candy I'd indulge in currently![emoji13][emoji106]Yum Yum! PS. He actually resembles Nate at our local gym, a trainer who was a High School classmate of my son coincidently

great inspiration! Went to the gym yesterday and so didn't feel like it. I was on the spin bike for 25 minutes and then I did calenstantic exercises for 10 minutes. Stretched for 10 after all of it. It's was rainy and cold yesterday today it's nice outside but still cold. For today's workout, I cleaned the bathrooms, worked up quite a sweat making them shine! Plus it's satisfying to shower in a clean one afterward.

(soft hug) I just have gotten out of it, thank God I've adjusted to my new meds...this has been harder then physically recovering from the surgery

A bit of inspiration for the gym tomorrow! I have this printed and posted on my wall. Every time I think about skipping the gym I look at this and decide to suck it up and go even if it’s just for 20 minutes. I find that once I’m there it’s easier to get through it and find the motivation!

Sending a hug to you Hannah, we are Spectrum[emoji130] Sisters, at least they admitted to your diagnosis, imagine growing up in the 50s-60s, no one admitted autistics hardly existed let alone a female [emoji68]one. I overheard a neurologist tell my parents if I had been a boy[emoji67] then they would have a tenative diagnosis. They didn't seem to realize I could hear, I sat crying back and forth trying to ",stim" the pain away. I was maybe 8? But I have come to the terms-- We may be wired differently, our motherboard isn't quite the same, but we are wonderful worthwhile people, not flawed but perfect in our way. At 72 I have finally learned to love me and since I do love me, I will give myself the gift of surgery so that I may live and live healthier from now on. [emoji13]

Hannah83 reacted to GreenTealael in Near death experience
I did not have one with surgery
However
My near death experience (car accident) left me with more questions than answers and a fear of leaving loved ones behind to sort my affairs
So prior to surgery I did it all myself
No clue if there is a right or wrong way to go through it but I hear therapy helps

I use bio oil for both surgery scars and also old self-injury scars, it has worked wonders. Highly recommend it.

This is the upside to having a hairy belly: Hides the surgery scars.
