    I can't make a decision

I tired pretty much my whole life to lose weight. I’ve done every diet out there. Everything worked for a while then I would slip back and gain everything back plus some. With the VSG, the year after surgery I was able to relearn how to eat, how to look and think about food. I think the biggest thing for me is that even 2 years out I rarely (and I mean rarely, maybe once a month) feel hungry. Hunger is what always sabotaged me. It’s changed my life so much! VSG May 2016. HW 292. GW 160. CW 152 and maintaining for 9 months

    Should I be offended?!

Wow. Just wow. I would almost be considering another surgeon! I know weight training has helped me considerably with my loose skin (not that I don’t have my fair share sadly, but has really made an impact on how everything sits on my bones). There are so many benefits of weight training! I can’t believe your surgeon said that to you.
  3. I was so stressed over finals last year, (yay for finishing my nursing prerequisites), I found out I can still manage to eat an entire bag of the cheesy jalapeño Cheetos (or 2! 😫). It took me a few hours but I did it. After my last final, I made my husband swear to never let me buy them again! (VSG May 2016 and I’ve been maintaining my 140lbs weight loss for almost 9 months now)

    Weighthe loss rate

I've had a very steady weight loss averaging 1-3lbs a week. It was frustrating at the beginning because it took a while for me to see a change but now I'm down almost 100lbs since May and am feeling great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?

Ramen and popcorn. I literally have refused to go out to the movies since my surgery (2 months ago) cause just the smell of the popcorn makes me want to cry cause I want it sooooo badly. Ramen used to be one of my main comfort foods so I miss that like crazy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Recovery Sleeve Procedure

I took a full six weeks off but I also work on a very busy medical/surgical floor at a hospital. I honestly felt 100% fine after 3 weeks but my surgeon did not want to risk me going back too soon and getting injured. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How soon can you return to work?

    Protein suggestions

I'm in love with vanilla flavored unjury (I add 1/2-1 tsp of vanilla extract to it to make it have a stronger vanilla taste) and the green tea flavored Isopure. My taste buds really changed after surgery and the shakes and flavors I liked before make me almost nauseous now. These 2 are about the only ones that I can not only stand but actually enjoy drinking. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    My wonderful gastric sleeve!

That is amazing! Congratulations on your success! I am 10 days post op for the sleeve and things have been going good so far. I love reading others peoples success stories, they really inspire me that I can actually lose the weight and get down to my goal. I can't wait to post my own success story one day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

In need of a pep talk...

I work in a hospital and yes there is always a risk any time you go under the knife. But even knowing the risk (and taking care of some patients that have had complications from bariatric surgery) I know that the benefits outweigh the risks. Obesity has such negative impacts on ones health and has been proven to cut short so many lives. I truly think this surgery will help me live a longer and healthier life. Post-op pain

I think pain depends on the person. I hate taking narcotics too but my pain was really bad the first few days (I literally felt like I couldn't breath it hurt so much). It's gotten a lot better now that I'm a week out but I still need something at nighttime, otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep comfortably. (I tend to try to do more then I should during the day and always pay for it at the end of the day) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stepping on the scale.....

Right now I weight myself once a week, but once I go into maintenance I will probably do it every other day to hold myself accountable. Years and years ago I would weigh myself pretty consistently and it helped me stay in a certain weight range. But when I started gaining a few pounds (the freshman 15 lol) I stopped weighing myself all together and 1 year later at my physical I had gained almost 60 pounds! I think I was in denial of gaining weight and not knowing my actual weight fed into that denial. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeved Nightshifters?

I also work 12 hours nights at the hospital. I just had my surgery so I have 5 more weeks before returning but when I do return I'm really worried about getting enough fluids in at work. Before I could just down Water quickly when I had a chance but I won't be able to do that anymore. It's going to be a struggle at first I think. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post op pain

Oh my gosh, the sleeping on my back is killing me. I've slept on my stomach my entire life and it's been killing me to be on my back. But it's just to painful to even attempt to sleep on my side. I cannot wait till the pain gets better. I know it will be worth it in the end. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post op pain

I had the gastric sleeve 6 days ago and while my pain has gotten way better then those first 2 days, I still am finding myself in quite a bit of pain, especially around my larger incision (where they removed my stomach) and just general abdominal pain. My doctor said that this was okay for me because my surgery took and extra 2 1/2 hours to complete because of a severe hiatal hernia, but I was curious about how everyone else's pain was after their surgery and how long till their pain went away.
