The best advice I can give is to trust your team. Do everything they ask you to do even if you think you can't like getting up to walk as soon as you can.
    You can do this!

    Janice,
Non critical question here. Just wondering since you didn't over-eat -- do you know why you got over-weight?

An awful lot of us here use Premier Protein shakes, because you can get them at costco. They come in a box of 18. I can't remember how much they are per box, but under $1.50/shake.

Right now I'm drinking Atkins shakes, but my nutrionist thinks I should try another Protein Shake after my surgery. Has any tried the Syntrax Nectar before ? If so any flavor recommendations? Sorry in advance if this has been discussed before

My "last meal" before surgery was Japanese hibachi. I remember sitting with the food in front of me thinking, "I am so sad that I will never be able to eat a big plate of food like this again."
I think I had that thought twice after surgery, both in the very early days.
I'm now a year and a half out and have lost 172 lbs. I couldn't care less about a big plate of food and I doubt I ever will again. My mindset has changed completely; it's quite interesting how that happens.

    Great advise!
I was going to suggest being gentle with your hair but she said it much better.
Weaves, blow drying, etc., are tough on your hair.

Erika Madrigal reacted to Maggie Journey in Frustrated with this long WAIT to get a surgery date
I had expected/hoped to have an April date, but now it's probably going to be May?
My Anthem BCBS insurance required the long route including all sorts of tests, recommendation letters from PCP, psych visits & psych clearance, and 6 months of nutrition visits as well as other required classes. I've been at this diligently since October 2015. Finally, this week on 4/7/16 was my last #6 of 6 monthly nut visits. I was so excited, I barely slept the night before this appointment. Now I'm DONE with preliminaries! My PA was so excited with me at that appointment, and I had the impression from her that everything would be fast-track now.

I checked in that day with the coordinator and they're preparing to submit everything to my insurance company. They weren't talking about surgery dates or giving me any info about what's next, so I asked questions. They said it will probably take 2-3 weeks for the insurance company to review/approve, and THEN they'll talk to me about starting the 2 week pre-op diet and schedule a surgery date. That feels like they've just added about 5 more weeks to this process??
I went from euphoric happiness on the day of my last appointment, to emotionally crashing. This is such a roller-coaster of emotions.
I called my insurance company yesterday to see if they got the paperwork yet; they hadn't. I'll call the coordinator at my surgeon's office on Monday to see if/when they sent the paperwork. I feel like I'm going to have to ride everyone to push through this paperwork and approval stage. I hope that the rest of this process isn't really as long as they seem to be saying.
Not having a date is the most frustrating part. I will have to plan around my job and prepare to be out. My daughter has to notify her job also, so that she can take some time off to help me. Once I have a date, I know I'll be able to focus on that and will get through.
Has anyone else at this point in the process (in limbo), and able to make things move along better? Any ideas or advice will be much appreciated. Thanks. <3

Feeling better (less aches and pains), more energy, more social (stop obsessing about if I'll fit into the booth when we go out to eat, or if I'm going to pull a Shallow Hal and break a stool or chair, how I need to sit in aisle seat at a concert and attempt to make myself smaller so I don't annoy the people around me,) being able to have a picture taken of me that doesn't make me cringe or cry and pray no one sees it!, having a shirt for more than a day before I spill something down the front of me, going to my PCP and getting a clean bill of health instead of another referral to a specialist because something else is wrong with me, a better sex life, more energy, wearing a worn out pair of levis in regular size and looking damn good, etc, etc.
I just pray I'll get there...
