Hemp seed are high in Protein too... I have them, I'm pre op... In reviewing my papers from the NUT, I see they will be allowed post op too... Hemp seeds are soft so easy to add to yogurt, have a nutty flavor similar to flax seed.

5 minutes wasn't even a reasonable amount of time... Doubt they were all standing around waiting for you... They probably overbooked so were using any excuse.... I would mention that you have often waited in their office and they didn't have the courtesy to accommodate you when you need it... Not a patient centered doctor...

I think at your weight loose skin should be the least of your concerns, getting healthy should be... Money can always be found somewhere to afford surgery

Could just be me but don't see too many "perfect" bodies around... Even people we think have the "perfect" body still see the flaws in themselves... Maybe your head just needs time to catch up with your body, your still seeing the old you but the men are dating the new you... I often thing fat has done more to screw up my head than it could ever do to my body... Good luck

I think we're far more critical of our body than most men could ever be...
If a man is taking you on a date he's seen what you look like... When it's time to get busy, I never came across a man who said oh you have a stretch mark let's just forget it lol...
Just to add you can always do things to make yourself feel better about your body, get a wax, buy some matching bra and panties, get some new makeup etc...... Men get into what turns them on... Men please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

I think it's an issue because it considered a cormodity. I would think being diagnosed with it, increases your chances of approval... It's a money driven diagnosis. I think I heard a radio commercial that mentioned something about it being under diagnosed.... If obesity was treated like any other disease as it should be, it would not opened the flood gates for obese people spending so much out of pocket whether it's this machine or all we have spend on ineffective products for weight loss.
    Good luck on your journey.

I have not been denied as of yet... I'm preparing in the event that happens... If you read the online there is no medical research to support that a six month diet will have any impact on obesity... Obesity has been determined to be a disease by the AMA in April 2014... Diseases need treatment not waiting period... It's a bias policy that works to promote society's bias of obese people... It assumes obese people don't have the knowledge regarding health eating etc... It's disgraceful that obesity is the only disease where you have to fight to get treatment and prove your efforts... Skin cancer patients aren't ask to prove they used sunscreen... No other disease requires you to provide proof of your effort to manage the disease.

Like someone else mention, when I attended the seminar this question came up. The surgeon conducted the seminar. He said you can try carbonated drinks such as beer, soda but you most likely won't like the way the sleeve reacts. He did say it would create a full feeling and gas.
I like this surgeon who I will be using because he didn't speak in terms of do's and dont's in excess.
He gave tons of information, I feel that's the most important tool in adjusting to life after WLS.

I think the decision to self-pay is based on your financial situation... If paying isn't going to financially devast you, go for it... I too thought of self paying but decided I'd rather just wait out the insurance and spend any extra money on getting a personal trainer and buying new clothes... In addition if I were to need any plastic treatments there's no way insurance is covering that... I'm waiting out the insurance to give myself a financial cushion for things I know insurance isn't going to pay for... Good luck with your decision

@@rouquinne I've learned real men don't excuse their bad behavior, don't put it on you that he did that... Have weight loss surgery to make you better... Skinny women/fat women have all been treated badly by men at some point... I do understand why you feel that way.

As a teacher I work with children of different ages, kids don't fear they way we do as adults. I think you could simply say mommy is going to the hospital to have something done with her tummy. She may be there a day or two and she will be feeling better when she gets back. Until then you'll be with dad or grandma or whoever will look after him. If you keep his routine as normal as possible he will be less scared.
You may want to mention to the teacher, you will be in the hospital so she can keep watch on him. Sometimes when they are worried their behavior change. Since he's 8 he'll probably be cool as a cucumber.
Kids rise to the occasion as needed

I feel your saying your looking for a quick fix... I can relate to much of your story, I've always struggled with the weight and for the most part it's been a tug of war, I win, the weight wins keep repeating... It feels like an endless cycle, since I hit the 40's the weight has been winning, I'm now at the heaviest I've ever been... Several things happened that made me decide surgery was for me, number one reason was as the weight goes up, I feel my mobility is going down... This is a lifestyle change, not a magic wand.
