    @@JJCool,
I read that obesity is a disease, and certain hormones make it worse.
I have a thyroid disease, and I can't control thyroid hormones, only through radioactive iodine that destroyed my thyroid, and now with thyroid replacement hormone, for life.
So, what this surgeon says, I agree with that it is impossible to control hormones without intervention.

How to lose 206 calories a day without even trying Eliza Cracknell bodyandsoul.com.au Such a simple game changer.

We're often told it's the small tweaks that can help us reach our weight loss goals faster, and for the naysayers this new study might sway your opinion.
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has discovered a way for you to consume 206 fewer calories a day. It mightn't sound like a lot but according to the Pennington Biomedical Research Center weight loss predictor, that's just over half a kilo a month.
All you have to do? Drink three extra glasses of Water a day.
Researchers surveyed 18,000 people about what they ate over two days and they found those who drank more Water consumed fewer calories. Easy, hey?
Besides from the obvious perk of being a much healthier choice than sugary drinks, researchers say water can make you feel less hungry, causing you to eat less.
In the study, participants drank on average 4.2 cups of water per day with a lower total calorie intake was calculated for those who had more than this.
The study suggests one extra cup could see you cut 69 calories from your day, 137 calories with two extra cups, while three extra cups will help you trim 206 calories.
    Conclusion? Drink up.

I was stalled for 6-7 weeks. Almost did my head in!
I followed advice re mainly Protein meals. Have been doing it for a week, and today my scales finally moved!
    Finally lost a pound! Hooray!
I also got Bowel Clear (has many herbs), and this relieved my Constipation due to very high Protein food.
Many of us who were sleeved 8 months ago have noticed that the honeymoon period is over, and that weight loss can stall for longer times at this stage.
At least it it still going down, but at a much slower pace.

My last stall forced me to go back on track, and back to basics!
Recently I over-indulged in frozen yoghurt, thinking that it is healthier than ice-cream ....
Well, it gave me bigger and bigger sugar cravings, and my scales did not budge for 2 weeks.
Soonest I gave it up and substituted with berries and rock/honey dew melons, my weight is peeling off again!
I just can't have any sugar laden slider foods, Sugar Demon be gone!

Yes, steroids can be bad weight wise ....
Earlier post op it was tough for me to drink lot of Water or fluids.
I was able to guzzle a lot in one go, after 4 months post op. Still can now. I still add bit of juice or lemonade to my Water, makes it easier to get it down.

OzRoo got a reaction from hawaiibornchica in Gall bladder?
Yes, the reason for gall bladder removal is presence of gall-stones.
Some people develop gall stones after VSG, some don't.
If gall-stones are present and found before VSG, then the gall bladder will most likely be removed at the same time.
Healthy gall bladder will not be removed, as mentioned above.

My initial BMI was 32.3 last year. Surgeon was happy to operate on me to prevent future complications.
I had a massive, rapid weight gain between 2014-2016.
So, I would have been operated on last July 2015, but the team's endocrinologist diagnosed me with Thyroid disease.
It took 9 months for my thyroid to stabilise, and in that time i piled on another 29Ibs, making it a total of 90Ibs weight gain, and BMI of 37.1
    My pre-op weight was 222Ibs.
I am now 5 months post op and lost close to 60Ibs, and still losing.
My excess weight put me in a pre-diabetic stage, and I had beginnings of non alcoholic fatty liver disease. My blood pressure was high, my cholesterol levels were very high, and emotionally I felt completely beaten down.
If I did not have this surgery, my weight would have doubled, and more.
Even though I was only obese for 2 years, it played havoc with my body and emotions.
Now, I am feeling so much better!
And yes, had a few people tell me that they wished they did WLS surgery when they were at my BMI level, and not waited when their BMI got much higher.
Good luck to you, and no-one has a right to tell you what to do or not to do. Any negativity is only someone else's opinion. It has nothing to do with you!

And my body is shrinking! In its own time !
Now, 2 additional kilos lost, and I reached my first milestone of Under 90 kg
So, stall or no stall, it is just another part in this journey for me.

Quite a few thyroid members had similar experiences with their Thyroxine levels getting too strong with each major weight-loss, and complaining of not sleeping, or doing housework at 3 am .....
So, definitely for you to have this surgery once you're retired sounds like a very sensible plan.
It is so tough to try and work when you had only 2-3 hrs sleep.
Thankfully I have not been working for a while, so my many sleepless nights only made me tired, and not stressed.
Yes, I hope to get my levels corrected soon, although it takes 6 weeks to really notice a diference.
    Fingers crossed!

I used to enjoy coming here, being helped and helping others, as well as having few laughs.
For the past few months there has been drama, after drama, after drama.
People threatening others, name calling, being super nasty, stirring trouble, trolling etc ....
    And now this!
So many great people have left. I guess if most if not all experienced and successful post WLS members leave, then the enablers will rule, leaks may happen and other emergencies.
I also come from medical background, and I am truly tired and sick of this nonsense.
    I don't need it.
I too was accused of bullying, just because I did not know a particular junk food name, because I live in another country.

    Not much has happened.
Sadly.....the loss will impact the very newbies that are posting in this thread the most. I was one of them this time a year ago. I wish them well and hope that they can sift through the bs and find some real solid advice from some real solid veterans. There truly aren't many left and it is a poor reflection of what this place is becoming.

    Oh, Alex. "terrorize"? Really?
Look, I'm not as outraged as some people are, and I'm not demanding that you delete my account. You're running a business and it's been helpful for me. But, it would be great if you'd not use that kind of language. I'm a military veteran, married to an active duty soldier and believe me, there's not one iota of terrorizing going on here. Bullied, maybe. Terrorized? Don't make me laugh.
The people you just either banned or caused to leave are the reason I'm here and the reason many people are here...I get NOTHING from newbies eating pizza in their bathrooms so their spouses don't know they're 'cheating'. But when LL slapped me upside my virtual head when I asked about wine at 6 weeks post-op? THAT helped. AND, it made me think 'hey, my team was wrong about BP, there are some nuggets of wisdom to be gleaned there'...I hate that they were right, and I'm going to have to admit it at my real-life support group meeting next week.
The snowflakes have had their fun, and when they all leave because they've hit goal or stopped losing because of their crappy habits, it's going to be sad and lonely around here...you may have 310,273 accounts (which we now understand to mean 'anyone who ever signed up, ever'), but you probably have about 50 active posters and about 100 more who drop in from time to time, in the sleeve forums. That's not a robust readership, by any means. I'm sad to see this, and although I may stick around for a while, it's only because of 2 or 3 people who I think need support...there's no support left here for me. And I'm going to buy my Vitamins, Proteins and Moon cheese elsewhere...I never get free shipping anyway.
