  2. I was sleeved in March and so far i have been going through my old stash of clothes but they are all still baggy. The sloppy look is not cute for the office, so I will be buying some new office wear pieces. I live in Ivory Coast and tailoring is really good. I am getting lots of cute dresses made. Even twinning with my kids! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Wondering about wls youtubers channels

On top of those already mentioned above I also watch Leelee VSG, See Jane Shrink, and SJs journey..also recently watched some videos from Perforce. Being based in (and from) Africa it can be difficult to relate sometimes but i love their personal stories and sense of humors. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    African American Sleevers

I enjoy spicy food and often add freshly cut chilli peppers to my food. I've been fortunate not to have any issues at all. I was sleeved end of March. I think everyone's body is different you will probably have to do some testing to see what your new tummy will handle Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Do You Visit a Farmer’s Market?

We are actually at the local market right now stocking up on fresh fruits and vegetables. Aside from staples, I also like to test the locally grown fruits that are only found in this country. Much cheaper than the grocery shops. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How Has Your Food Budget Changed?

Overall given the increases in meats and cheeses and nuts in my grocery shopping- my monthly bill has definitely gone up! I have also decided its way too expensive to buy Protein powder in Africa so when I'm done with this pack its off my shopping list. My budget on going out has remained more or less the same - just i always have a doggy bag now! Or my poor partner has finishes my plate! Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Advice from ex smokers?

I have quit twice in the past 2 yrs.. Both times cold turkey. Between pregnancy and nursing I was not smoking for most of 2014/15.. My second quit phase was right before the Sleeve surgery in March. Had my last ciggie week before my op. My wife smokes (heavily) and so the first few days is always rough on both of us..I'm sensitive to the smell and her always going for a cigarette just irks me! Lol. But, it gets better. I just redirect my attention - thank goodness for toddlers! Going out can be hard (alcohol n cigarettes are a match made in heaven).. But luckily, my alcohol consumption in general has drastically reduced... Again.. Could be the toddlers! So my advice is have very exhausting young children in the house at all times! Lol On a serious note though - don't be nervous, you will be ok. It so commendable that you're even starting early. You're planning for success. Even without WLS, quitting is always the best choice for your health. Good luck Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  13. I can lose weight just through diet but for bigger results i add in exercise. I also feel exercise (especially weight/ resistance training) helps with toning, tightening and building a leaner shape. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I have recently been suffering from constant constipation and painful bowel movements. I know its from the high Protein diet (in the past 2 weeks I've been pure protein) and I'm slacking on Water intake. Im refocusing this week and aiming to go back to 2L per day. I want to also add some veggies that have high fibre. I want to reserve taking supplements and/or medication as a last resort. Any recommendations for quick fix veggies with high fibre. 21. @"jenn1", i just opened this thread today and i havent gone through all the replies but i wanted to say i think both Vets and Newbies can learn from each other, being a Vet doesnt make you the most knowledgeable nor does being a Newbi give you examption from doing your homework and not being babied. I was sleeved end of March I live in Africa, I don't have a NUT or a regimented program. I'm on the site looking for topics and tips to help me navigate this process. I value anyone who gives advice and shares their experience without judgement be you new or vet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Calling Late March buddies.

Surgery 30 March. SW 123kg CW 104kg... I feel pretty good, i follow a high Protein diet, try and stay around 1000 to 1200 cals and at least 2 litres of Water. I have not been exercising, aside from running after my twin toddlers - and this is something that i want to focus on seriously once we move into our new house by the end of July. My hair has been breaking n has become super fragile.. But it hasn't bothered me too much since i keep it in braids most of the time. How has everybody else's progress been?
