  1. I didn't know the PM's were visible, though I should have thought so. I hope those do stay deleted. Some were very personal (hence they were "private") and some downright salacious. I have one out to Dub, and I'll delete that tomorrow and stick to using PM to see if someone wants to exchange email addresses to carry on private conversations.

I'm appalled messages were read. Violation of privacy!!! Deleting them probably doesn't remove them completely. I want off this site and will seek legal help to have my profile removed.

  2. Just remember - nothing you eat or drink will actually make you feel better or bring you comfort. Your loss and pain can't be stopped by food. Only time can heal your broken heart. Remember the good times with your sweet dog and always know you did what was best for him in the end. My thoughts and prayers! Food can't help - it will only make things worse.

  3. Just had gastric bypass on 10/25/16. HW. 225

My name is Diane and I'm from Delaware. I'm thinking the weight should be coming off quicker than it is, but maybe I'm being impatient. See Dr. for first post surgery appointment on Monday. I have chronic neck and back problems and worried about exercising.

You are losing at a great rate - especially starting at a lower BMI. Just follow the plan - and stay off the scale.

  4. Thank you all so much for your honesty and willingness to reply. Im worried that it is not happening as fast as i thought or that its not working for me. I am sticking to the plan and trying to be positive.

Has anyone else noticed that they are a bit emotional after surgery, i definitely have and seem to be tearing up at the smallest of things. I did read that it can be a anesthetic side effect.

    Trying to be patient.

It's important not to compare weight loss. There are far too many variables. Our journeys are our own! Stay with the plan. As you are burning fat - your body is releasing stored hormones - making you emotional, depressed, etc. It's very common. Stay strong!

  5. it's more important to get enough Protein that calories. Have you considered that your body is having g problems digesting beef? I read that chicken and fish digest better and so provide more Protein per oz.

Also, remember to take a good quality multi Vitamin plus Vit c for healing and Calcium for bones.

Thanks. I've got the Vitamins - although whoever said Celebrate soft chews taste like a starburst must have forgotten what starburst taste like. Lol!
So true!!! They're awful! I have spent so much $ on gross vitamins! ????

  6. I had my surgery on October 25. Recovery went well. I am following my surgeon instructions Perfectly but yet I only lost 6 pounds in 10 days and actually gained 1 pound. I am so disappointed and upset also. I don't understand at all. Very frustrating

Starting weight was 249 and then 243+1

    My current weight is 244.4

Stay off the scale - it'll drive you crazy! Just stick with the plan - the weight will come off when it wants. You can gain just from Water retention, getting your period, Constipation.

  7. Well, there's always another option: eat real foods.

I am post op on full liquids, and avoiding food with little or no nutritional value to prepare myself for the rest of my life. puddings, popsicles, cereals, Gatorade etc are all things that people 75 years ago would not even recognize. Most of the grocery store aisles are full of crap that humans never ate until recently, when people started getting fat and sick.

Why not stick to real food? If it has no nutrients, has to be fortified just to give it any nutritional value whatsoever and adds nothing to your nutritional profile then why bother?

I made a butternut and acorn squash Soup for full liquids. Puréed the squash, some cream cheese, butter and cayenne pepper. I made a puréed spinach, green onion and garlic dip that I watered down to Soup like consistency. I drink broths with only 3 ingredients on the label.

sugar free Oreo ice cream is not going to help me reform my eating habits. 100 calorie packets of microwave popcorn are not going to help me reform my eating habits. Eventually, the sleeve will only do so much and if I don't clean up my act, I am going to gain weight again. Period.

It's much easier to accomplish this once you're able to eat more and get enough Protein from foods alone. That's not possible for most for a while. I need to supplement. Protein shakes or powder are required. How do you plan to get thru that stage eating only real foods? I'm not being snarky - I'm truly wondering how it can be done?

  8. Ok friends I have a question. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out of the RNY BYPASS and supposed to be on purée and I did it a couple times but I'm mostly eating soft foods and chewing very well. I've had no stomach problems and no bathroom problems. Was just wondering if anybody just skipped the purée stage and went straight to soft food. Does this do any damages down the line. Or if it's working for me to just stick with the soft foods. Thx for info.

It's also about healing internally. You could cause a significant complication by moving ahead in your food plan.

That's not hunger - it's just your stomach and body figuring out what the hell just happened. I sounded like Chewbacca was in my stomach. That reduces but I don't think it goes away completely - and has nothing to do with being full.
