  2. I'm doing good with my fluids (can drink almost normal sips) but not so good with protein. Sending the SO to get something else I can try for protein. The protein shakes aren't cutting it - and Atkins LIft (my backup plan) is nasty!

@TracyBar I didn't post anything much. Everything went well - was in hospital longer than expected due to nausea and not being able to keep anything down. Came home Friday (surgery was Tuesday). I had very little pain except when I first woke up from anesthesia. The nausea was much worse and I would have preferred pain. I'm doing pretty good so far - just a week out. I'm more tired today than the previous few days having no problems sleeping (on my side or stomach). Getting in plenty of fluids - able to take normal sips. The protein shakes are not going down easily though. I'm on mushy foods starting tomorrow so looking forward to that. My follow-up with surgeon is tomorrow too. He told me that my stomach was extremely stretched (actually plopped over my spleen and required 6 incisions during surgery) so that surgery should definitely be very effective.

lol @KristenLe. I relate, watching my hubby order Pizza Hut during my liquid phase drove me crazy. I craved pizza so much back then that I'm still attached to the Cauliflower pizza recipe.

Once you are there, easy pizza solution. Take a wonton wrapper, put a pepperoni on it, add 1/3 cheese stick, roll, seal and bake. A make a couple dozen for the kids because they are so poppable. Super crunchy, lower carb, no frying.

  7. Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet! Pre-admission testing done this morning! It's starting to feel like this actually may be happening!

I recall a couple of days ago that you said that you had your appointment and that you were hoping to get scheduled. If I hadn't seen something it was on my mind to send you a message asking how it went. Your posts are obvious that you are prepared for this.

Most are good - there's an issue with my TIBC, C Reactive Protein and and MPV. Triglycerides up slightly and so is glucose - but that's usual for me. Actually - triglycerides are down from last year. I have a cervical disk issue and pinched nerve in neck - hoping that's the cause of the C Reactive Protein.

I don't think I've heard of the first three, but will look them up. Went to the gastroenterologist today due to upper right abdominal pain since Saturday. Went in for blood work and will have a CT scan next week. We discussed a few possibilities, but it remains to be seen.

    4. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Here's the bad news.......those 10 to 13 vials of blood.....that is what they pull from you after 3,6,12,18 and then every 12 months after. I just had them done and my insurance denied paying for it. 3K!!!!! Of course I am fighting them on this but I was shocked to see how much having these labs costs.

Best of luck on getting your date! I hope it is soon for you! Congratulations!

    3. justhere4theshow

      justhere4theshow

Then don't let it get to you. A support group type message board environment is the exact platform for attention-seeking behavior. Make no mistake that until you have your surgery, you cannot imagine some of the things you will go through. Some of these people are under stress they've never encountered, with hormones raging and God knows what else. So don't tell me that you have empathy for them. What you have is SYMPATHY. I admire your passion for helping others, so don't let it get you down. If you let it get to you, they have accomplished exactly what you are venting about. Take care. My best to you.

      Caribear

If it were me, I would very politely pester them every day until they did what they needed to do. I have had to do this in the past, not being rude or anything, but making myself a "pleasant nuisance" until they got their acts together.
