    8 days post op

@@Joy@boman It's much more mental than physical. You need to get your head in the right place. Don't self sabotage! I really believe therapy pre-op has helped me. You're always going to have temptation - stay strong! I would skip the noodles too - they'll not help with your success!

    HMMM.....

Many have trouble with eggs. Try some cottage cheese, yogurt, refried Beans with cheese. Small tiny bites - and slow. I ate a little too much for lunch today and wanted to die.

    HMMM.....

Try some broth. It may help. Be sure you are taking a PPI (acid reducer). The hunger should go away soon. Hang in there.

    Can only eat a little

I'm thrilled to only need a little - take advantage of this time. I'm sure we will be able to eat more in a few months. But I has this surgery to reduce portion sizes.

    Catheter question?

I wasn't catheterized. They threatened if I didn't pee but I sat on a commode in the recovery room forcing myself to pee!

    VSG Post Op Day 5

I was in hospital until Day 4 and not even close to getting enough fluids. Don't worry - concentrate on fluids first and then protein. It's more important not to get dehydrated which can happen quickly. Walk and move around. Rock back and forth even while just sitting, wave your arms around, March in place. Try different temps of fluids - hot tea, warm broth, Powerade Zero, etc. You'll feel better soon. One hour at a time! I am 2 weeks post-op.
  8. You look great!!! Congrats!

    No protein

Once you are at the puree stage - refried beans are delicious! You probably still need to supplement for a while though. I bought Genepro Unflavored Protein powder and have added to puree butternut squash and sugar free pudding. You can add it to anything.

What do y'all think is wrong?

@@tenseintexas It doesn't sound like nausea symptoms. Have they done any testing - an Upper GI Series or Endoscopy? I can't imagine not feeling well for so many weeks.
  11. @@Torriluv87 I think you'll feel much better when you get enough liquids. Try other liquids - tea, broth, Powerade Zero, sf popsicles.

    New here, constant nausea

@@HisMrsWright Nausea is common - but your surgeon should be treating you for it!!! I've been on Zofran since I got home and told to keep taking (surgery 10/18/16). You won't be able to stay hydrated or get your Protein if you continue to be nauseous. Ask your Dr for a prescription - it will help a lot and you will feel so much better physically and emotionally. If you're on something that isn't working - ask him to change it to something else. There's no need to have nausea! Good luck! Kristen

    Liquid intake?

@@vannababyy22 I can as well and it's a good thing. Just don't take huge gulps and hurt yourself - but drinking more than 64 ozs is good.

    Weight gain

@@Natalina Sometimes insurance will deny you if you've gained weight. I didn't have to lose alot - but I couldn't gain.

    Puree stage

@@TanishaP The only way I get my Protein is with an unflavored Protein Powder as @@blizair09 suggested. If you don't do that - you'll probably have to supplement with shakes still (which is something I couldn't stand anymore). I bought GENEPRO and it is really good - I've added it to butternut squash and sugar free pudding and you can't even tell it's in there.
  17. Post-op, I just couldn't do Protein Shakes anymore - ordered Genepro based on recommendations and it might be just what I needed. I've been enjoying my mushy foods but couldn't get enough protein and Isopure protein drinks are somewhat disgusting. I just added a scoop of Genepro to roasted butternut squash and it's delicious. I'm hoping my stomach agrees with me.
  18. A PPI is an acid reducer like Prilosec. Increased stomach acid can often mimic hunger.
  19. @delray310 It's normal not to feel full from liquids. Just stay with the plan.

    Quinoa

It's on my plan (Sleeve). It has a fair amount of carbs but it's a good source of Protein and Vitamins and minerals.
  21. I enhanced broth by boiling some carrots, celery and onion in box broth. Add salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder and paprika. Helped alot! I never thought I'd get thru 2 weeks and I did.
  22. @@Kitty2272 It's very normal to be hungry - you are eating far less than usual. Stick with it - it gets better. Can you have broth or sugar free popsicles? How about Powerade Zero? The headaches will go away in next day or two. It's really worth the effort - you'll do much better post-op. Take it one hour at a time. I enjoyed broth during mine. Hang in there!

    Swelling

@@facebro29 I believe it depends. I haven't had any issues bending down since Day 2 - I bent to pick something up in the hospital (not thinking) and had no pain or discomfort. I've heard others talk about the swelling in their abdomen but I don't have that either.
  24. Are you on a PPI? I am at same stage as you and can't say I'm hungry. I do still have head hunger but not as bad. I am drinking alot of fluids and eat about 2ozs every 3 hours (4-5 times a day). I wait a good 30 mins after to start drinking. I have about 20ozs of fluids in between meals. What are you eating for puree?
