Joyce 258 got a reaction from HanSolo1977 in Oh, the lying!
I'm experiencing the same thing at my job. I'm losing weight people see it and I'm wondering how. On my day of surgery I lied and told them I was having an esophageal problem because I've suffered from Gerd for years. Only my immediate family knows and I pray that my sister doesn't mention it on Facebook! I have asked her not to mention it to anyone. I guess the lying for me is due to feeling like a failure at losing weight on my own. But I do not regret my decision to have the SIPS procedure on April 5th 2016. I am down 14 pounds!

I was told that when you drink with your meals you tend to eat more because you're drinking will liquefy your meals rather than just your body's natural juices. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

The main issue is that if you drink while eating, the Water mixes with the food and flushes through your stomach more quickly and therefor you won't feel full as long and will be able to eat much more. It's basically a way of bypassing your restriction, making it easier for you to eat more food.< /p>
Drinking before eating can allegedly fill you up and make you eat less, and therefore not get ENOUGH food, but I find that theory to be pretty much BS, because I watched my post-op leak test and saw how fast liquid moved through my stomach. It was through in a matter of seconds, so the rule of not drinking for 20+ minutes before eating just seems like a surefire way to NOT get enough liquids in. I drink right up to the time I start eating.
Drinking after eating will just make you overfull and uncomfortable. If your stomach is full of food, there's nowhere for the liquid to go and it'll just sit on top of the food and possibly get backed up into your esophagus, which is NOT good.
But as I said, drinking WHILE eating is the most dangerous. Because when the food mixes with liquid to become a more apple-sauce like consistently, it passes through more quickly and makes it easier to eat more, defeating the whole purpose of the restriction.

Always and forever. My understanding is that 1) it can stretch the pouch (whether or not that is true or not) and 2) the liquid will make the food run out of the stomach, causing you to feel less full.

I'm 6 mos out and unfortunately I still crave the sweets. I did feel an accomplishment last week however. I have always loved peeps that you get at Easter, and I bought one small package on clearance and I couldn't stand how sweet they were. I ended up throwing the package in the garbage. Wish I could say that about cake!

My MIL-to-be took this picture at a family outing today. This is the first time I've really been able to see the progress. First picture was taken September 2015 about 280lbs. The second was taken today (I'll be 3 months post op 4/18) 215.0 lbs. Wearing the same shirt in both pictures... I'm speechless and so glad I did this.

Go walking, I am so glad someone said it. I live with my husband and I just finished preparing him buffalo wings with ranch dressing on the side! Tje whole house smells of his dinner. I on the other hand had runny Beans and a cup of tea.. but I'm the one with the weight problem! It is important that I always remember the "WHY" behind my decision to have the SIPS procedure 9 days ago. I am down 14 pounds and I can see the weight loss in the mirror. No food is worth that feeling I received from looking at myself. Keep your heads up and watch DVDs instead lol. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Hi Zora, I am 8 days post SIPS and I know exactly how you feel. I feel lonely and isolated. We live in an EATING and DRINKING society. I spent the day yesterday planning runny Beans meals, Protein drinks and Greek yogurt meals (totalling 75 grade protein!) I wanted to go out to Joe's Crabs hack with my man but realized that is no longer a reality for us AT THIS TIME. Surgery date 4.5.16 weight 255.4. Weight this morning 246.2! Girl you know that is what this journey is all about. You WILL eat again. Hang on there..you are not alone. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I replied to your post because it's in a public forum and I can. If we always only replied to people who spoke directly to us, this wouldn't be much of a DISCUSSION forum would it? There are very few initial posts that are speaking DIRECTLY TO someone yet replies are expected/appreciated but by your logic...
Sounds like you are the one with your panties in a twist and that's on you, not me. Feel free to block me if you care to, but telling me not to reply to anyone I choose to reply to is really not going to get you far.

@@Joyce 258 Fear not!! Baked buffalo wings and blue cheese dressing is a staple for me. You will get there and that is a perfect sleever meal. High fat, high Protein, low carbs. I don't do fried wings most of the time because they make me horrible gassy, but baked crispy? YUM!! 3-4 times a week!
