  1. 18 days until my surgery - it seems weird to say I can't wait to have surgery - wish I could fast forward to the recovery part. :)

  2. Surgery tomorrow at 8:30am. "If I die before I wake, a date with John I will surely make". I am ready...

  3. I just finished binge watching BSG and now I feel sad and empty. *sigh* That show did a number on me.

@finding_onederland - I am! But I haven't seen Beyond yet. It's on my list though. I'm trying to decide if I should watch DS9 or Enterprise next.

  4. Tried on some new clothes for the first time since my surgery - 6 weeks out today and have gone from 22/24 (sometimes 26/28) to a very comfortable 18/20. Woohoo! And yes, I did buy a few cute things on clearance. :3

Battlestar Galactica. It ended sad, and I prefer happy endings.

  6. a few weeks ago I bought a pair of size 12 dress pants because they were on clearance. they were a couple of inches away from fastening/zipping. today they fastened/zipped easily. don't look quite right yet, but within the next couple of weeks I suspect they will. I haven't worn that size in a very long time. guess I better put them in the queue to be hemmed up!

  7. Bah humbug. I made chili for dinner and ate just a smidge too much.

Just volume. It was a pretty miserable half hour or so until it all managed to go down! I will say that I haven't had any issues with spicy food (yet). Which is good, because I do like some spice (but nothing too crazy).

  8. Finally!!!! ONEDERLAND!!!! Doing the happy dance!!!

  9. The most random things make me gag/retch. I almost threw up my Isopure Lemonade this morning.

My body is accustomed to processed foods, so substitutes and additives don't generally bother me at all. It's just very strange. I have always had an iron stomach, and I've retched more in the last month than I have in the last decade! Thank goodness it never became actual vomiting though.

  10. This journery is still so so so so surreal to me. I am 9.6 lbs away from my goal. I actually said out loud to my scale this morning "What?! No way!" This process is still shocking to me! I am lovin' it tho!!!!!

  11. Been stuck at 240 pounds for 2 months so I've decided to increase my daily steps from 6k to 10k and I'm going back on high protein liquid shakes for a month...Stall please break!!!!

  12. Who would've thunk that a teeny 2oz hamburger patty would be nearly too much food for me!

I am definitely a red meat kind of girl. I can't have steak until September, and that just makes me sad! I hate seafood, but I'm adding a lot of it to my diet - I'm trying to get as much protein as possible from my food instead of having to do powder, shakes, or other protein drinks. I haven't yet had a day where all of my protein came from my food - but I'll get there!

  13. What's your favorite protein coffee recipe?

    1. becomingmandikaye

      becomingmandikaye

It can be both. A lot of folks drink coffee for breakfast, so they add protein to it to make sure they hit their macros for the day. Some people mix a vanilla premier protein shake with a large black coffee, for example.

  14. Why is "see a therapist" the answer to everything for some people? I mean, there's nothing wrong with seeing a therapist, but it's not the end all be all to life.

  15. 3 week stall 4 days early

I feel your pain. But keep on doing what you're doing, and it'll break.

  16. Went swimming at my mom's today - so tired after spending the afternoon in the sun! It was a great day!

It was so lovely. I fell asleep for awhile on a float! I was a bit concerned about my incisions because not all of the scabs have fallen off, but the doc said 3 weeks and it's been almost 4. Incisions are fine. :) I'm not quite at home in the water as it sounds like you are, but I certainly don't mind spending afternoons floating around, listening to music, and reading a good book!

  19. I'm not sure I can stand another day taking these chewable Flintstones vitamins...

    1. becomingmandikaye

      becomingmandikaye

My doctor's directions specifically told me to find a multi-vitamin that had certain levels of folic acid, iron, and zinc in it. And that I couldn't take iron and calcium together.

I'll have to disagree on your last point. Flintstones has more iron and zinc than any of the bariatric specific vitamins I found, and was specifically recommended by my surgeon. It's right there on par with any of the other vitamins.

My doc wants us to take the chewables for 2-3 months, and it's only been 3 weeks for me. :(

Thanks! I hope so too. I'm itching to get below 218 because that's the lowest number I've seen in YEARS! It'll come - I just have to be patient. :) I hope you get your surgery date soon!

    2. (See 1 other reply to this status update)

  22. Aug. 9th----date for my skin surgery! I am truly blessed to have this all approved by my insurance.

  23. Gotta love it when the hospital has to refund you $ because they made you pay too much for a procedure. Of course... that refund went towards the hospital stay, but so what?

    1. becomingmandikaye

      becomingmandikaye

Oh I'm not complaining. :) I also set up a payment plan to pay the remainder. Talk about adulting!
