    Should i exercise

If you really want to exercise, you should walk or swim, I think it's a bit early for hitting the gym. Good luck.

You know you lost weight when

Went to buy some new clothes since I looked like a ghost floating around old rags, and I was amazed I could fit in sweat shirts/shirts and jeans that looked ridiculously tiny to me. Kinda nice!
  4. For those interested: almost three months and a half post-op, I sometimes enjoy a bit of weed with some friends, happens like twice a month. I tried one month post-op and it went well (sometimes vaporizer, sometimes from a joint). It feels nice, I just keep some cool Water on the side, but weed has never caused me munchies, just thirst. I had a glass of wine two weeks ago as well, I took my time and sipped it slowly, also had water on the side in case of unwanted dehydratation. Nothing else to add, you guys be the judge of yourselves.

    Full?

Almost three months out, and as soon as I feel like burping, I know I am done, if I trespass this point, it'll feel like someone decided to drop concrete in my stomach, I've crossed it only two times and I felt like sh*t afterwards.
  6. My whole family is "in shape" except for... my mom (well she is now) and one of my two sisters. My mom had a lapband which went wrong and was revised to a gastric sleeve. She was thus quite supportive and was even the first one to talk to me about the gastric sleeve when she saw I was getting dangerously desesperate with myself and my health troubles. Everyone in my family was supportive of this decision, one of my grandpa wasn't too glad about it, but now he cheers when he sees how much I've lost. So all good!

    Stepping on the scale.....

I weigh myself once a week, every Thursday (which happens to be the day of my surgery), even if sometimes I sorta feel the need to weigh myself randomly (the damn scale is right next to the shower, so it's tempting). I'm afraid that if I weigh too often, I'll become scale addicted

    Rice? Pasta? Bread?

I always have to laugh when I see newbies say "I eat XX and I'm still losing weight!" You can eat Twinkies and wash them down with milkshakes the first 6 months to a year and still lose weight..... I don't even know what Twinkies are and I have never had milkshake in my whole life. I just said my surgeon and my dietitian never told me anything wrong about brown pastas/rice and whole grain bread, I sure hope they know what they are doing since they studied around 9years to be there. My mother also had a sleeve and still eat these things while maintaining 22 BMI, which is far from being bad. And yes indeed I am a "newbie", I didn't come here for people to laugh at me or being condenscending. Have a nice day.

    Rice? Pasta? Bread?

I am three two months and a half out, I have lost 50 pounds and was never warned against rice, bread or Pasta... Well I was told to reduce it and eat brown rice and pasta, and whole grain bread (I hate white bread anyway). Twice a month I have pasta with salmon, or some rice with vegetables, even sushis (not a lot though). I have the occasional grilled slice of whole grain bread with hummus or cheese (French, Dutch and Belgian cheeses are quite good). It's weird all the differences I see between my country and the USA. I was never asked to drink Protein shakes, or to stop coffee and tea, and still my weight loss is rather good, around 3 to 4 pounds a week for a month and a half, and I have not yet experienced a stall.

The forums are getting out of control

I think this forum is rather nice, I haven't seen too many agressive or judgy posts on here.

    Getting a tattoo

I think you should wait after the surgery!

    My thoughts

Bariatric surgery is no easy way out. Because getting 80% of your stomach removed is not an easy thing for your body or your mind. You might even feel regret the first few weeks. I am two months out and just one year older than you, I also had been struggling with my weight for a long time. I already have lost around 46pounds, I went back to sport and it actually felt great instead of just feeling like a damn punishment. It's only been two months and I can see many differences. Good luck in your journey, your body is yours and if you feel that the surgery is your only help, don't let people who have no idea what's it like to be fat and obese to tell you otherwise.

    Any FEBRUARY sleevers?!

Well today is my "two months" surgery anniversary, and I went from 123,3kilograms (around 272ponds) to 102,3kilograms (around 225,5 pounds). I am sure pretty glad about the result and I have been feeling great recently, being able to go back on more intensive biking but also swimming. Cheers everyone!

Is it normal to feel normal?

Well, I feel the same way I must say! Ever since my surgeon told me I could go back to biking and swimming, I have been feeling pretty good which is kinda weird after the first "meh" month where I was tired all the time. I don't think there is anything wrong, if you don't feel pain or perpetual disconfort then it should mean everything is fine! Enjoy feeling good is all I can say

    Week 2 !

Quite a good score if I may say! Keep up the good work!

    Snoring

My heavy weight created sleep apneas problem, I sleep alone but my siblings and my parents could hear me in the whole house. When I started the sleeve process, I had a sleep test and they found out about it. Each time I would sleep without the CPAP, my family told me "You didn't use your machine, did you?" and now when I take a nap without it during weekends or so, no one hears me, so I am kinda glad, apparently I snore way less than before. But the problem is that I got used to the machine but after the only night I spent without my CPAP, I felt tired like never before. I think I am going to wait for a few pounds to drop out before I take a new sleep test.

  19. Belgium! Home of waffles, fries, chocolate and beers, no wonder I needed a sleeve

    Weight loss after sleeve

It depends from person to another, when I told my surgeon I had lost 30 pounds in one month he was impressed and said it might even be a bit too fast. It now has slowed down I lose 3 to 4 pounds a week, but I always have been a fast loser whenever I tried dieting (also a pretty fast "gainer" everytime I stopped).
  21. I am young as well, just one year older than you. I know it just straight up sucks at first: pain, liquid food that tastes like sh!t, etc. I had regrets as well, but now I am already half through my weight goal in only 7 weeks. Also you should follow the golden rule of the Internet: don't believe everything that is written on the internet. I got myself all worked up one week before surgery due to some stupid articles, but a rapid look at their sources (if they had any) quickly proved it was all based on ... nothing. Just keep in mind that being obese is not healthy at all, and might as well have ruined your youth. I mean, I am 23 years old and was already having sleep apneas and backpain, things that should not happen at such a young age... Plus ablation of the stomach has been used in various situations to treat cancer for example. If you are afraid of growing older faster, drink more green tea and have a tiny piece of 70% black chocolate from time to time But I don't think it will happen since your article is nothing but a pile of dung. Let yourself the time to heal and feel better, go to a support group and embrace the change. Enjoy your loss weight because it sure made me a lot happier Cheers!

    Alcohol

My surgeon told me to wait 3 months if I wanted to try again, he told me that a glass of wine wouldn't hurt but that I should not make an habit out of it. On the other hand, my mother also had a sleeve and she has a glass or two per week, in summer she sometimes has a beer (low carbonated flemish style beer). I personally plan on waiting till the end of June, some friends from abroad are coming to visit and I'll surely have a glass of sangria or a sip of beer... But I actually don't miss so far, which is rather impressive since I used to drink a lot every weekend!

    Do I have a leak?

Wow that sucks, hope it's nothing too bad!
  24. I had three tiny ones, the biggest one being on the left side, and it must be max 2 centimeters long.
