    Random Thought/Question

@@ShelterDog64 I loved cream of mushroom soup pre-op. It gave me the runs the one time I tried it post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Random Thought/Question

It really depends on the person. Most people I know did really well with refried Beans on the purée stage, they made me dump. I had the same issue when I mistakenly ate some pudding with sugar in it. I was sleeved five weeks ago. Anything I've tried with significant carbs has sat like a rock in my tummy after a bite or two, except hummus and dairy. I do hope it changes over time, but if it doesn't, I'll learn to live with it. Question/statement

The fullness didn't hit me so much until purée, and then I really felt it when I got to soft foods. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I do spicy food. Buy new clothes when you need them. Get stuff that fits now, or maybe one size down. Don't buy for your goal size until you get there. You don't know where you'll stop shrinking, or how your body will be proportioned when you get there. I find when pants are about two sizes too large, they start getting uncomfortable. I buy then. Very emotional lately

A lot of it is the hormone dump from the fat you are losing. Some days I cry at the drop of a hat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Low Energy

It gets better as you can eat more. Part of it is the need to heal, and part is the extremely low calorie diet. Make sure you are getting in your fluids, Protein, and Vitamins. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Would you do it again?

I haven't thrown up since my surgery five weeks ago. Two months should be plenty of recovery time, barring serious complications. You may still tire easily, or get a little dizzy when you stand up, but you should be mostly back to normal at two months out. I'm only a few weeks out, but I would definitely do it again. I am dealing with some acid reflux post-op, but other than some bad pulling from a stitch a week out, I've had no major issues. I've lost 25 lbs post op, 60 total. I feel good, though a bit tired. My mind is sharper, my husband says I'm getting sexier. A few more months and I'll be able to ride roller coasters again. I'm very happy with my decision. 8. Depends what you are planning on doing. A relaxing getaway with some walking, sure. My doc recommended waiting two weeks for sex. I waited 12 days as my husband was going out of town for a week. It wasn't comfortable, but not painful. Make sure you bring along stuff you can eat. That's difficult. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. That's BS. He's putting you down because he's scared you are going to gain confidence and decide you are worth more than his garbage. I don't know if he's normally a decent guy, and just being a jerk now. If he's typically a jerk, you deserve better. If he's normally a good person, call him on his behavior. Tell him that you have no intention of leaving him, and just want to be healthy so you can be there for your family and future grandbabies (and whatever other reasons you have). Tell him this ugly behavior is beneath him, and you want the caring, supportive man you love back. You may want to consider couple's counseling. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Drs questions?

It could also be related to the medications you may want/need after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I blended homemade chili when on purée. You could have the tomato basil on full liquid as long as you avoid the chunks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cravings

I found savory foods helped a lot. Most of the foods we can eat early on are sweet, so savory items were much more satisfying. Hummus was a godsend when I was on purée. My sleeve didn't tolerate refried Beans (but I'm in the minority with that.) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cravings

This was my experience also. I was hungry (tummy growling hungry) on liquids, less so on purée, and now have almost no hunger now that I'm on soft foods. A very small meal keeps me full for hours and hours. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. That's amazing!! One of my goals is to weigh less than my husband. Congrats on reaching this goal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    So here goes!

It's summer, and the peaches, plums and nectarines are amazing right now. Nectarines and peaches are pretty large, so I would stick to half of one. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Help

My incisions are still pretty red a month out. The itchiness is from healing. As long as the incisions are not swollen, oozy, hot or overly painful, you don't have a fever, and the redness is restricted to the incision itself instead of the surrounding tissue, you should be fine. 17. You are probably mildly dehydrated. 64oz isn't that much. Plus you lose Water through sweat, breathing, etc, not just pee. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    What's your favorite water bottle?

I love, love, love my ThermoTank. It keeps Water icy cold all day long. It's small enough to fit into my cup holder in the van, but still holds 26oz. I actually filled it with ice from a hotel ice maker once, then kept topping it off with water as I ran out. I had ice for two days! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Dreamable makes a really good point about it being easy to fall into the fast food trap for the kids. My family had a lot of fast food the first month after surgery. Now that I can eat more normal food, I'm cooking again (though I eat less than my 2 year old!) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I wouldn't be concerned about your son -losing- weight at that age, unless he's extremely obese. As you model and provide better food choices and exercise opportunities for your son, he should start slimming out. At that age he may stay the same weight as he grows in height and muscle mass. Both of my kids are petite, but my husband consistently loses weight when I am watching what I eat. I may only be "in charge" of one meal a day for my husband, but he starts making better choices and taking smaller portions when I do. Pre-op I lost 35lbs, and my husband lost 15-20 during the same time period with minimal effort. I do suggest you have occasional, planned treats for your son so he doesn't rebel and pig out on forbidden foods when you aren't around. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Awesome! I'm sorry he embarrassed you that way, but it sounds like good things are going to come from this. Good for you for trying to get your questions answered and putting yourself out there for those who are too afraid to do so. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Well, it depends on my hospital. At mine, I was brought back to the pre-op area then ushered into a locker room. I was given a gown, slipper-socks, a cup to pee in, and a toothbrush/toothpaste. I then went into a bathroom area, placed all my clothes and such into a bag. Peed in the cup for the pregnancy test, and brushed my teeth (good oral hygiene reduces infections with surgeries in the GI tract). My clothes bag then went into a locker, and I was escorted to a bed in pre-op. They started my IV, had me rinse my mouth with special mouthwash, and applied an anti-nausea patch. (My patch kept coming off, so we had to tape it on!). I was also given an injecting of something, I think it was to prevent clots. They also drew some blood for pre-op labs. Then my family came back. They could have come back before the IV, but my husband hates needles. The anaestheologist, OR nurse and surgeon all came and talked to me. When it was time to do the surgery, I was wheeled into the OR. I slid over onto the operating table, and that's the last thing I remember before waking up in post-op. I was tired and confused after, but no pain. Shortly after I was wheeled up to my room. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Blood draws are not rocket science...

I'm a hard stick if I haven't had enough to drink. When I go in for a normal blood draw I make sure to drink extra a couple hours beforehand. I'm still very heavy, so my veins can be a bit hard to find. I tell the tech that my veins are good, but they may need to be patient. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
