    Really Regretting it.

Try different temperatures for your liquids. I found warm fluids went down the easiest, even though I prefer cold Water. I still find it easiest to drink warm fluids, so I drink a cup of broth or miso Soup when I'm behind on Fluid. Are you on anti-nausea meds? If not, ask for some. If you aren't keeping fluids down, definitely see the doc. Dehydration is dangerous. As someone else mentioned, you could have something serious going on as well. Keep your medical team informed. Light headed / dizzy

Orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure upon standing) is really common post-op. Make sure you are drinking enough fluids. Let your doc know, but it's pretty normal. If you actually black out, or of it lasts longer than a few minutes after you move, then it may be more serious. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Feeling like I should see my doctor.

I did have diarrhea the first week after surgery (surgery on the states), but it wasn't as bad as what you are describing. Was your surgery recent? It sounds like you might have a case of Montezuma's Revenge (aka traveler's diarrhea). If you are getting dehydrated, go to the ER for fluids and antibiotics. Does anyone know...

I agree with Valentina. As soon as I was cleared to start swallowing my pills, I did. I like my Iron chewable and the Calcium chews, so I do still use those. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Yogurt 1 week post op

You might try thinning it out some. Or you may have developed some sort of intolerance. I had some weird taste changes and couldn't stand yogurt for a few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain

My doc let me have ibuprofen (400mg) a week after sleeve surgery instead of refilling my narcotic scrip. Tylenol wasn't working. The ibuprofen worked as well as the narcotics for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Breakfast

I would skip fruit juice. It's too easy to drink too much sugar and calories. Stick to eating your fruit either raw or cooked. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain

I found an ice pack helped a lot. I pulled a stitch there and it hurt quite a bit for about 10 days. If it's not hot, you don't have a fever, the area around it isn't red or swollen, and it's not oozy, you are probably OK. If you are still concerned, talk to your doc. Wondering why?

Guidelines change as new studies come out. Some docs are more willing to make changes based on new studies than others. Plus different doctors make changes based on their experiences with their patients. A good example from my practice is with eggs. You will see people on here commonly eating eggs in the soft stage, maybe even purée. My docs used to allow eggs when patients reaches stage 5 at 6 weeks out, but just changed it to 8 weeks out because they saw some patients have blockages due to eggs. If you have questions about why your doctor's rules are a certain way, just ask. Good docs are willing to explain why. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Completely Undecided.

Cervidae brings up some great points. As an aside, sometimes on-plan foods can trigger dumping. Refried Beans are a go-to purée for many people. They sent me running to the potty. Try foods individually to make sure they work with your new stomach. If something doesn't work out the first time, wait several weeks and give it another try. Unfortunately, the reverse is also true. Sometimes you can develop an intolerance (or distaste) for a food that used to work for you. I had this with yogurt Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I chose sleeve. My primary reasons were no rerouting of my intestines, I didn't have a history or acid reflux, and arthritis does run in my family, so keeping NSAIDs as an option was attractive. (Your doc may say differently about NSAIDs and the sleeve, but mine permits them when used judiciously). Plus being able to eat almost anything after healing seemed like a good idea to me. Some mention dumping as a reason to get bypass. You won't know until you have surgery whether you will dump or not. Plus some sleevers, myself included, have dumping. Dumping can also go away after several months or years. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How Has Your Food Budget Changed?

I'm the only one that had surgery, but my husband has started eating healthier along with me. We eat out a lot less, which saves a bunch of money. Then, between my husband, me and my two year old, we only eat about one of our "old style" portions between us. (Unless I make Mac & cheese for the family, my daughter can eat a lumberjack sized portion of that!) My dinner and lunch bills have gone down astronomically. Breakfast is similar to how it was before. Once I can start eating more fruit and veg, I expect the bills to creep back up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Don't feel full?

What are you eating right now? I didn't get to start eating more solid food until a month out, and -that- is when I started feeling full. I need to be very careful to eat slowly because the full feeling comes on quickly, and even one bite past that makes me feel uncomfortably full for several hours. Salad....ever again? If so when?

Another good tip I read on here was to skip the lettuce, and just put the salad toppings you want on your plate (Protein, tomatoes, cucumbers, Beans, etc) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Salad....ever again? If so when?

This is what my program says too. Per my program, you can start raw veggies starting at 8 weeks out. It may be several months more before you have much room for veggies, or your stomach tolerates them well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    3 days post op troubles

My program asks us to wait til 8 weeks out to eat eggs (in a recipe is OK). Eggs can be hard to digest. Are you taking some anti nausea meds? You may still need them. It's really common to have nausea the first several days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Panera smoothie ?

I would be worried about too much sugar at once from a smoothie. It's so easy to drink a lot of calories and make yourself sick. (Yes, I know it's mostly "natural" sugar, but too much sugar is too much.) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I had just discovered shakshuka, aka eggs in purgatory, pre-op. I love it. It's eggs gently poached in a tomato-based sauce. Most recipes call for you to leave the eggs in the simmering sauce for just a few minutes to leave runny yolks, but I left them longer to fully set the yolks. Stomach feels "backed up"

You're definitely still swollen. It takes some weeks to start really going down. I was sleeved, and it took very little to fill me up (felt like a rock in my tummy, not sure if that's the same feeling you have. With RNY, you do have the risk of strictures. Let your doc know about your issues so he/she can decide if they want to do any tests. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. It gets better. It took me several hours before I was able to pee, and then I had to patiently wait for my body to allow the urine out once on the toilet. That lasted a couple days for me. Getting out of bed was the most painful thing for me. Take it easy and ask for help if needed. I slept in a recliner the first several days. It was more comfortable. Try holding a pillow to your stomach when you cough, or place a hand firmly over your largest incision. It helps to support the area and makes it less painful. The horrible taste is common. I had it too. My doc said it could be due to the anaesthesia. It could also be ketosis, dry mouth (try biotene mouthwash), or something else. Brush frequently and use a tongue scrape or brush. It helps a lot. This gets better in a few weeks. If you are in pain during the day, take your meds so you can heal. No need to be a hero. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
