I am 8 months out and eat 700-800 calories a day. I work out 6 times per week, 2 days with a trainer doing weights/HIIT, 3 cycling classes, 1 yoga class.

Check out this short video from my surgeon's office. It's from the previous psych doc they had on staff (they have a new one now). It was required to watch it yesterday. It explains everything you may be experiencing regarding mental health and what's normal and what isn't : The post op stuff starts at 2:50.

Good morning. Quick question.... did you notice with this weight loss surgery that you got overly emotional? Like I literally feel pregnant. I'm crying one minute, pissed off the next then laughing hysterically. I'm wondering if I'm losing my mind or if it's the beginning of some hormonal changes.

I hope things get better for you. The changes I have made in my eating habits have been the simplest daily decisions of my life. It is not EASY, but this surgery saved my life. Emotionally, physically, mentally, I can have a positive relationship with food and water- see it as fuel for my body to carry me to do the good wonderful work I want to do in my life. Simply sitting comfortably in a chair now, only 4 months out and 57 lbs down. Running after my nieces who are my favorite people, having the energy to play, being able to get down on the floor and crawl around, walking my dogs again, putting on makeup, feeling like a person in the world. Yes, surgery isn’t the solution, but if I knew how to do it and it had worked with whatever diets I tried before I wouldn’t have gotten to 297 lbs. I really hope you can find support with meals you enjoy, chocolate Protein Shakes that taste like milkshakes!!! Try the Vitamin patches!! No yucky pills!! Get support from your loved ones.... I can’t imagine they would rather judge you and have you feel embarrassed, when they could support you and watch your health improve. It is so much more embarrassing for me to not fit in a booth, or get out of breath, or get dirty looks in fast food places or restaurants- the dirty looks of a fat shaming society. I’d much rather take out my Protein Bar, order a salad and eat half?! (Yes to leftovers!!) and I get to eat 6 times a day!!! I add sugar free strawberry topping to the plain Greek yogurt and all of the sudden I’ve got STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE!! I love shrimp, and it’s less expensive now because I only need 4-5 to fill me up! cheese sticks wrapped in honey ham lunch meat are my go-to! I don’t always follow the 20-20-20 rule. But all I can do is do my best! And I know I would rather eat cottage cheese with mandarin oranges every day, than struggle to clip my own toenails. To not have my seatbelt lock every time I move because it’s not as stretched out. I can use armrests on chairs not, and not have to look for the bench. My feet don’t constantly hurt dragging around 60 extra pounds! There are so many ways to individualize this new eating lifestyle to fit YOU! And I believe in you!

Yesterday I drove 2.5 hours to meet up with my very dear friend that had gastric bypass only 3 months before I had my sleeve. We enjoyed our day together shopping for new clothes, talking about life and the joys and struggles of WLS. She has also lost 100lbs.

Ash-stonishing reacted to KT1981 in Day 3 stomach spasms--Yowza! Is this normal?
Totally normal and very painful! It will likely get rapidly better over the next few days. Some folks continue to experience light "spasms" later on when drinking things at extreme temperatures (iced Water or hot tea, for example), but even that usually dissipates early on in recovery. When I experienced those issues I preferred room temperature items to help my tummy stay "relaxed".

Keep Upbeat, my friend, don't let Stomach know what's coming! It's going to be a whole lot thinner before you get thinner in the rest of your body. But you know IT'S ALL GOOD, it really is! Next zmonday you pay your dues, gain a life enrollment in the Bananarama Club, a sacrifice for the Greater Good. And I will be very proud of you, come what may! YOU ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE-- A STRONG COMMITTED WOMAN and I am proud to know you, even from this far away!😝👍

Hey! So I'm not sure if I'm overpacking but I also packed pads (my nurse said women tend to get their menses from stress and the pads at the hospital are super uncomfortable), body wipes and feminine wipes.

Thanks everyone. I feel a lot better, physically. I look forward to my trainer sessions each week. Had my six-month appointment and they were thrilled with the results so far and said I don't need to change a thing I am doing and they are confident I can get off this 46lbs by the end of November, which is my goal. Now that the complications have resolved, I feel a lot better and less regretful. It's nice to be able to compare these photos since you don't always notice the change yourself without really seeing the befores and afters. I can't wait to get to my goal weight because buying clothes is a hassle! I have no clue what size I wear any given day and I am still gravitating towards the plus section, even though my tops aren't plus anymore and my pants are a borderline 12.

Surgery is just a tool and won't help you with the head hunger or choosing wrong foods to eat or night eating. Have you thought about going to the group therapy classes offered by your surgeon's office? The head hunger is more of a battle than physical hunger.

It sounds like you might benefit from talking to a therapist that specializes in bariatric patients. One thing the surgery won't do is prevent you from eating the "worst food." You will still be able to eat unhealthy food with your sleeve. If I get hungry during the night I drink almond milk because it's filling and low calorie. To lose weight, sleeve or no, you will need to eat a healthy, low-calorie diet.

My band was removed in September 2015 because it was cutting circulation off to the top 1/3 of my stomach. I have a good bit of scar tissue but can have the sleeve done. I'm nervous about my surgery, but am beyond ready to have it done!

So you're having yours the 19th too?! Yay we really are surgery twins lol. This liquid diet is so blah at this point. My kids had cheeseburgers for dinner and I almost fell over dead. I just kept drinking my sad cup of Bone Broth lol
