    HIPPA Violation

OMG I would be mortified! I would definitely report the violation! Ask your Dr for their HIPAA info and call the number in that info to report. They HAVE to provide you with that information. Dawnie_doo

    Friends and Family?!

I have gone through this. My husband is very supportive. However I haven't told many about the surgery. I've already heard "you're gonna get too skinny" or "you'll look sick". So I opted not to go any further with sharing info. I feel like it's a huge step for me and I need all of the positivity that I can get! I already battle my own thoughts. Smh No need for more anxiety. Moving forward with God and positive thoughts! Dawnie_doo

    Hair Loss

I actually read that article before. Good info. I guess I still wanted personal experiences. Thank you for sharing yours. Dawnie_doo
  4. Lol Congrats! Dawnie_doo
  5. OMG I feel the same way! My husband knows. My supervisor knows because I'll need a lil time off from work. My cousin knows because she had a very successful gastric bypass several years ago and she offers great advice. I haven't shared with any friends or other family (not even my mom) because of judgements, etc. I have NO time for negativity! I have my excellent support in my hubby and that's all that matters. Problems staying motivated during Pre op weight loss

My nutritionist placed me on 1600 calories a day. I also find things that I like that are nutritious. It works for me. I don't look at it like a diet...if I do it won't work. Increase Protein. Drink LOTS of water! No soda. Try replacing dinner with a Protein shake. These things keep me motivated. I lost 10 lbs so far. Hopefully it continues. It's truly a mind thing, as the psychologist put it. I'm determined and my mind is set. If I can't do it now, it won't work after surgery. I won't fail, therefore I can't fail! Dawnie_doo

Thank you! I've actually been on biotin for years and it helped get stronger strands. Hopefully it works with the surgery. Dawnie_doo

    Vitamins and Protein

They already mentioned the shakes. Above that they haven't said anything. I'm still about 2 months out. So when I'm closer I'm sure they'll give more instructions. Dawnie_doo

Lol exactly. I would love for you to keep me updated if you can. I don't have a surgery date yet. I would imagine I'll get that date in April. Dawnie_doo

    Hair Loss

I've taken Biotin for a few years and I'm pre op. It has helped my hair get stronger. However, I understand that some hair loss is inevitable. My surgeon was glad to hear that it's already in my system. Yet and still, Protein is the most important focus. I also get a keratin protein treatment from a salon (not the cheap home versions). Vitamins and Protein

I've found the best deals on Amazon. I haven't taken them yet, I'm still pre op. However, they were recommended by my Dr, either liquid or chewable, and the reviews were good. Dawnie_doo

    Anyone from NJ

I'm in NJ. I'm pre op. Getting nervous, but all is well so far. I also wondered about how I'll accept the new body. I've been overweight since 4 th grade. Smh but I'm hopeful! Dawnie_doo
  16. My psych evaluation was awesome. I'm a therapist, so I thought I knew everything going in. Hahaha She unveiled a few things and set them free in just one visit! Lol I'm glad that I chose that particular person. Dawnie_doo
  17. I thought I was the only one with this question. I asked my surgeon as well. He stated that my insurance company will view the weight loss as me taking this seriously and think that it's a higher chance of maintenance after surgery. My cousin had the gastric bypass and she said she's seen people get denied. I'm going with my surgeons advice. He does this regularly and can better advise...as with your surgeon. I know insurances have different requirements. Stick with what your surgeon says. Stay encouraged! Dawnie_doo

    Talk me off the ledge

I'm in the pre op stage and I share a few of your fears. However, I look at it like this. It feels like my morality rate is even higher if I don't get the surgery. I can't stay this way. Yes, I've thought if I can lose the weight before surgery maybe I don't need it...until I hit a snag and weight loss slowed down. Don't change your mind. Be hopeful and have faith that all is well! Be encouraged! Dawnie_doo

    Granny with a Sleeve

I'm not a granny, but I'm 41 and you encouraged me. I'm pre op...they're trying to figure out which surgery would be best. I prefer the sleeve, but some GI issues need more testing. Thanks for the info. Congrats on your journey! Dawnie_doo
