This is me in my first new workout outfit. I am 6 months out from surgery here. I think that the mirror just makes you look slimmer!
I can't believe that I am posting the second picture but oh well, I am sure that we all have seen granny panties before.

I think it's encouraging and empowering to ourselves and our WLS sisters& brothers to show some before and afters. Everything you went through (or are about to go through) deserves a little praise. Even if you aren't at goal weight yet, (I'm not!!) share !

We pay for it out of pocket because it was the only thing that works. Especially now that's it's over the counter. We get over a months supply at costco for less than a dollar a pill

There's "not telling" and then there's actively lying. There is a very thin line between the two. It's very easy to cross that line.
Personally, I have no problems with telling anyone. I don't feel ashamed of myself. To date the only negativity I've encountered post-surgery is from an obese women who thought I made the wrong choice and claimed what I did was not the healthy way. Otherwise, nobody I have told about surgery gave me any problems. Pre-surgery, yes. My family was against it but their objections came from a place of ignorance while I had already did my homework and was educated.
I personally would like people to be honest with fellow obese people when asked. They are the ones who can benefit the most from such.

I don't really care what other people choose to tell or to not tell. I'm old enough to understand most people don't care about my personal choices!
I am sorry if people feel like they "can't" tell, but that is not the same thing.
I am pretty open about anything so I tell anyone who cares to know, but I also think that is my own choice/business.
I would add (and Lipstick Lady liked this before I added this part) That if someone thinks it is half truth that's also their business, and their opinion. I wouldn't waste 2 minutes trying to change their mind because in the end, I just don't think it matters that much. tell or not tell according to your own reasons.

I'm not sure when making the personal decision to not tell the world all of your personal business became a "half truth" or "lie by omission" but if that's the case, I have a few scenerios/questions for those of you who think that way.
    By that logic:

If someone asks me how me and husband are the day after a huge fight (or a night of great sex), is it my duty to tell them all the details or is my standard answer of "Great!" or "Fine!" now a lie?

If someone asks me why I look tired, do I have to tell them that my husband snored and farted all night/was extremely frisky/kept getting up to pee and woke me up a gazillion times or am I lying?

I am just getting over a horrible tummy bug. When people ask me if I'm feeling better, should I go ahead and tell them that I am terribly afraid that I am going to poop in my pants at any minute because my stomach still feels off? If I don't, I am TOTALLY lying by omission.

Well meaning friends often ask how my kids are doing in school. Should I tell them that my oldest is in the top ten in her class, got into a top rated university, has received an a$$ load of scholarships but that her ex-boyfriend is being a real bast@rd and making her personal life a little miserable? I mean, that's the truth.

People often ask me my ethnicity because I am olive complected in the bible belt. I tell them Mexican and Italian, but I leave out the drop of German and Acatec Indian. Pin a big red L on my chest!

Must I tell people that I am on the rag/pissed at my kids/need a glass of wine/really have no desire to talk to them/in a hurry when they ask me how I am doing? Manners be damned! I don't want to be a liar.

Do I love your skirt? Why yes, I do! But now I have to tell you that it's beautiful but looks like **** on you because I don't want to omit any info.

Why am I smiling? I just crop dusted some nasty faced woman an aisle over. TRUTH!!

I could go on forever ...

Keeping my personal business PERSONAL doesn't make ME a liar just because you choose to share YOUR personal business.

FYI: The Jiff peanut powder is nasty.
I don't put PB2 in anything. I just like to mix it and eat it with a spoon. The chocolate one tastes better than the original.
Another trick you can do is mix some up and add one tablespoon of real Peanut Butter. The taste is superb and you only get half the calories from a 2 tablespoon portion.

You can add it in anything..
I use it with my RTD premiere chocolate drinks.
Some times I add a banana into my ninja and blend them together for a choc Peanut Butter banana "milk shake".
I use it in my oatmeal
I make it by itself and eat it with celery. (Pre surgery) I haven't tried this one post yet.

Hello, I just had my 2nd weigh in at my supervised nutrition apt. I have 4 more to go. Was told that they schedule surgery after the 5th mo. for 4-6 wks after the last weigh in of the 6mo. So I'm looking at about the end of Sept. beginning of Oct.

BlueEyed4u reacted to James Marusek in Is anyone's goal weight higher than the BMI chart weight?
Goal weight is an artificial number. I think during the initial consultation, my surgeon mentioned a goal weight of 190 pounds. But in the end my body determined my end weight and I dropped to almost 140 pounds. After studying research, I decided that I wanted to be on the high side of Normal BMI, so I set my goal weight to 150 pounds. I wanted to have a little extra fat on my body because it is important when you sustain an accident or sickness according to morbidity data.

My surgery is scheduled for April 18th. I've already bought all my Vitamins and such, and have started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Now that I know I have the time off work that I need, my last huge worry is the amount that my co-pay for the surgery itself will be. I have been told I'll have to pay it the day of surgery and I am terrified I won't have enough money for it. I'm trying to not stress too much and stay positive, but this could potentially put everything at a screeching halt and I can't imagine not having the surgery at this point. I guess just pray for me guys, and if you don't pray please keep me in your thoughts or send some good vibes my way!

I'd have to say that you are "just about right".
If you didn't have the jitters and a healthy dose of fear, I do believe you would be "the odd one out".
I always like to tell folks to make two lists:
    1. a list of everything you've wanted to do but couldn't do because of your weight and how that feels
    2. a list of your dreams, and wishes for you and your daughter and how that feels
Now, which one do you want to feel for the rest of your life??
    Have you decided yet?
    I thought so.
See you on "The Losers' Bench", my friend.

I think the horror stories are incredibly rare. Don't let them scare you. At this appointment they will assess your personal risk based on your health concerns and you will be better able to make decisions after that prognosis and any tests needed.
I have 7 children and one grandboy and I realized my weight and comorbidities (diabetes especially) were going to take me away from them too soon. I am excited for this chance to be healthy again. Diabetes is already gone.
