Pasta? I'm 5yrs out and still can't eat pasta and rice is even worse. I can tolerate chicken if it is very, very moist--like if it's cooked in a crock pot.
For my pasta/rice substitute I eat "Miracle Noodles". Google them to find out all about them. When washed, dried and cooked properly they are wonderful.
    Good luck in your search.

I feel so alive I walked I shopped for four hour today. All my pain is gone. I'm drinking 34 oz Water 33 oz Protein. 10 oz of tea and one pudding and Jello. I'm losing 2 lbs a day. The first four days my stomach my back chest hurt till I learn to sip and paste self.. I have to color to keep myself buzy to do this right. Don't let anyone say this is the easy way out. Cause it's mental at first. Like a baby relearning to eat.

I am 5'5". I am almost exactly three months out from surgery. For months one and two I lost 20 pounds each month. So far this month I have lost 14.5, but I have until Thursday!
That being said, please don't plan on or compare yourself to anyone else. You will lose, but comparisons and time specific "goals" will only be frustrating. For example, I thought I was doing so great with my losses (and still do!) and then last month at my WLS Support group meeting I sat next to a woman who had surgery a week after me and where I had lost 40 lbs with one extra week, she had lost 57 lbs.! At first I was a bit upset and then I reminded myself that she had been sick and unable to eat much of anything after surgery where I recovered quickly with no complications. I wouldn't want to have lost more if it meant having a harder recovery than I did. Not that everyone who loses larger amounts was sick. There are just so many variables. I think that if you are following the plan and getting exercise as best you can for the stage you are at post-op and increasing exercise as you can to improve your overall health, the weight is going to come off. Just do everything you can on your end to encourage it and you will get to where you are meant to be, but you will be healthier no matter what weight that is.
Best of luck to you with your surgery,
    pam

I have done the 2 week liquid diet already. It was really tough for me. I think the hardest part was that I just missed chewing food. I did find that chewing sugar free gum helped with that though. I ended up losing 15 lbs during those 2 weeks, so I felt like it was all worth it in the end.

I'm scheduled for March 31st and I have a lot of anxieties about the surgery and recovery in general.
What's weird is that I'm dreading the pre-op 2-week liquid diet because I know it's going to be challenging to handle all that comes with doing that (I have to take morphine for a chronic pain condition and this kind of intake is going to be rough with the side effects).
But I'm not so worried about my food intake after the surgery. I know that I won't feel like eating because of the recovery and the fact that the stomach is going to be so sensitive, I'll keep it as calm as I can.
I suffered with H. Pilori (an ulcer) about 12 years ago and it was AWFUL. You feel uncomfortably full all the time, so I remember that so vividly, I think I'll be good about keeping myself in check post-op (fingers crossed!).
I just want all the worry to be over so I can move on and start enjoying my life more!
    Here's to a fantastic 2016 and beyond!!!

I'm having the sleeve March 9th. Nervous, excited, anxious! My husband had the sleeve on Jan 27th and he is down almost 60 pounds from the post op diet until now. He has done wonderful. I'm thankful we will have each other to lean on! We are in the Athens, Texas area.

Nope. Personally i dont like the idea of thinking that any food is off limits or forbidden. I say all things in moderation. If you want some mac n cheese have a few bites. If you want ice cream have a little
I was sleeved in september an have lost over 150 lbs

I had a big ol steak dinner with baked potato and soda. Im glad I did because steak or beef dosent agree with my tummy anymore. I wish I would have eaten one more deli sandwich. bread dosent feel good either in my belly. Enjoy what you really like because you may not enjoy it later. I missed eating after surgery, it depressed me a little too, but thats all in the past. I still miss the deli sandwich when I see my co workers eating them. Good luck on your surgery.

There are alternatives for bariatric recipes. You can use spaghetti squash to replace Pasta.
    Sweet Italian turkey sausage.

This is a recipe I tried.
Peel and sliced egg plant. Dip in egg wash and coat with garlic Parmesan cheese. Bake until golden brown
coat a cupcake pan with cooking spray
    First layer - spaghetti sauce
    2nd layer- Eggplant Parmesan
    3rd layer - spaghetti sauce
4th layer - sweet Italian ground sausage -
    Top with mozzarella cheese.< /p>
