  1. I didn't have a supervised diet but my surgeon wanted 4 ounces of Protein every 3 hours.

That lasted like 9 days for me lol. I had mix in other things besides just 4 ounces of chicken breast or turkey lol. I started tracking my food on my fitness pal and focusing on Protein first, drinking my Water and walking. Doing that I was able to lose 12 lbs in 3 months.

But I gained some of it back because I'm undisciplined and like food.< /p>

Lol thank u.. I'm excited I start my actual diet tomorrow..

They encourage you to eat 3 meals...on a 9" plate they want you to divide your meal 1/4 protein (4 0z), 1/4 carbs, 1/2 veggies;also two 100 cal Snacks... the will give you handouts and visual aids for portion sizes...

  2. Have you met with your surgeon's dietitian yet? S/he will go over this with you - mine is a high-Protein, calorie-limited diet. I just track Protein grams and calories in My Fitness Pal.

  3. I had severe gerd preop. Post op it is soooo much better. I was on a ppi pre and I'm on one now. But it's still a complete difference.

Thank u mistie I hope for the best I don't really want gastric bypass. ..

I think several factors have made it better. Eating less so less pressure internally. As well, I'm eating different, healthier food. That makes a difference. It is a fact that sleevers are more prone to gerd, however, I've been so blessed! I lived on Pepcid preop-never have to touch it now!
Yeah I hope for the best thank u mistie I feel hope now thank u

  4. I had had problems with GERD and heartburn off and on pre-op, but nothing diagnosed and nothing chronic. I would just occasionally take a Zantac or something. It always seemed to be worse at my heavier weights (my weight fluctuated a lot as I yo-yo dieted). Post-op, I have pretty severe reflux that requires me to take 20mg of Omeprazole twice a day every day still at 19 months post-op.

Thank u... I only get heartburn when I eat something really spicy If I don't eat anything I'm good...

  5. My mom had severe GERD pre-sleeve. She had an endoscopy and it didn't show any other issues. When she had her surgery on 3/21 the surgeon discovered a large hiatal hernia and repaired it. I'm sure the hernia was causing most if not all of her symptoms. Time will tell, but I'm thinking this will cure her GERD.

I'm not a doctor, but if you are eating smaller amounts, more frequently, and taking your acid reducer after surgery it should get better. I can't say for certain because for some people it gets worse.

    I would ask your surgeon.

Yea ur the second person I hear about a hernia causing heartburn. .. thank u so much.

    • On the other hand if you have a problem with heartburn and gerd prior to surgery make sure your surgeon knows that....I certainly understand the thought that by-pass is more drastic but you don't want to have sleeve and end up having to have it revised to by-pass because of gerd.....just talk it over with your surgeon and let them advise you based on your individual needs and condition. best of luck to you!!!
Yeah thank you kmorri I sure will.. I'm going to stay away from spicy food.. as well..
