I'm in Cincinnati. I had my sleeve 5 years ago and I am down about 290 pounds overall with my highest weight being 540 pounds. If I had any advice to give it would be to focus primarily on liquids after surgery. After surgery I had to be readmitted to the hospital due to severe dehydration and borderline kidney failure. I was in the hospital for about 4 days getting a Fluid drip and had to work on getting more Water down before I was released .

I agree that it's all about how many calories you eat. Some people stop "naturally", because they are "naturally" eating enough calories to stop losing at that point. (Enough room, appetite, time, and desire to eat).
If you are at goal and want to stop losing (I assume you haven't updated your profile.. it still says you are 237lbs) then you need to examine what you are eating, and find healthy ways to boost your calories. I love starchy veggies for this. Potatoes, Beans, etc. Lots of nutrition in a calorically dense package. Add a pat of butter for an extra 50-100 calories.

It stops when you consume enough calories to match your TDEE.

That didn't come naturally for me. Left to my own devices, I'll under eat by like a thousand calories and would have kept losing until there was nothing left. I set alarms to remind me to eat now and keep a stash of high calorie bulking bars to get my numbers up.

Surgeons aren't really known for their bedside manner. Mine is quiet and not overly friendly. Honestly, as long as he's good while he's operating I'll be alright with it. Unless he's like Blizair's doctor. That would infuriate me. So unprofessional!

To the OP what happened at your three month appt?

Well, I had gastric sleeve surgery on March 8, 2017, and I don't have any energy either. I can eat a small amount of fish and some vegetables if they are very soft. I'm taking my Vitamins and I, too, have problems drinking enough Water. I was hoping it would get better as time passed, but you are still dealing with these problems a year after surgery! My prayers are with you and I hope you find a doctor that can give you some good advice. Please share what you learn!

I acually asked Martha about the comment she made about the fact that if you gulp fluids you will be a fast eater? Thats a very black and white comment and I was just wondering where is the evidence is to back that up?
Just thought I would clarify that.

I like that....slap Cookies out of her hand. I would recommend she get WLS and a good psychologist. She has a lot of food issues lolllll. Had my surgery on 2/1 and I know this is going to be a "one day at a time" journey. Good luck everyone.

PrettynSpirit reacted to vsgbeauty13 in Post op depression, is there such thing?
Okay, i am not 2weeks post op from gastric sleeve. I been feeling really down, i never realized how strong my relationship wit food was. Getting full as fast as i do, and still seeing food on my plate sometimes makes me want to cry because all i want to do is finish it! It sounds so crazy i know trust me i know. I wish i wasnt this way, everytime i see a food commercial i have regrets about surgery and i feel ashamed 100%.. because i went into this not even because i wanted to look hotter or anything, im a mom of a 4 year old wit autism that i can barely keep up with and im only 23 years old. I barely enjoy my life as it is being heavy, but food was always something i used for comfort and i guess im going through emotions as i say goodbye to that habbit, as well as junk food. Has anyone on here dealt with this? By the way, thanks for taking time to read and to reply for those who do. Its so appreciated. - Karen

I am 16 days post op and I STILL have not hit 64 oz.I can take bigger sips now, but today I started with actual...mushy food...and I have to do the 1/2 hr no drinking before and the no drinking the hr after. That has set me behind big time with the liquids. Now I have NEVER been a drinker....I prob did 24 oz avg a day before and now I hit 50 oz regularly...and I feel like I am swimming on the inside. Water has been the only think that makes me throw up..I am trying so hard to get it all in.

My best friend and my family were initially the only people I planned on telling. When I told my best friend she said "well I don't think it's fair that people get surgery to be skinny. Now I'm gonna be the fat girl of us two".....
    Ummmmmm what?
Guess who isn't my best friend anymore. And this also played a role in why I decided to be open about my surgery. I needed the support and the people I wanted it from weren't supportive and the people who I never imagined would support me have been there the most.
Crazy. You learn who your friends are in this insane journey.

I just had revision surgery. Sleeve to RNY. I didn't hide it. I was miserable with GERD prior to the revision. A friend of mine had the nerve to say...
"Oh man... Gastric bypass people look like bobble heads.. Your going to have a bobble head"
Um really? My husband said the look on my face was priceless. Like a cross between did that just come out of your mouth and are you really that effing stupid?
My face let's me hide nothing about what I am thinking! Lol

    Ummmmmm.....
So, apparently some people think that being "wanted" by my husband only comes with weight loss. Huh?? SMDH.

Thanks for the kindness! I had the surgery Monday and survived it I am now a loser LOL!!! I was able to leave the next day, I was unable to conceptualize "just get your liquids in" versus Protein until I wasn't s fuzzy from those meds. I cannot get Premier Protein down right not and was freaking out about it too!
As far as pain the area where the most work was done by my surgeon stings and the rest of my stomach feels like how it did when i was a little chubby gal running too much and too fast so as to catch up with everyone. (TMI) was so worried about the gas which I avoided with all the tips! But it is Constipation that's trying to make me get all teary along with a visit from an unexpected aunt Flow it'll be okay tho but not without a fight!
