    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I have a stupid question. When you count out how many days post op you are, do you count surgery day as 1 or 0?

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi everyone. I am new to this thread and was banded on March 25. I really have enjoyed reading all of the posts. I feel not so alone! At this point, the pain from the incisions are bearable, but the nausea that I am experiencing is not. I think the nausea is coming from gas pains, but even with moving around, it is taking a long time to feel good again. I read some of you experienced nausea, but not all of you. I called my Dr. who gave me phenergan and told me to take some mylanta. I hope I feel better soon. For those of you who did have persistant nausea, when did it let up?

I look forward to feeling well enough to meet up with you. It has been slow going for me. All the gas is making me feel bloated and nauseous. I hope that's normal. Any ideas as to when those feeling subside? I'm taking one day at a time.

I am home safe and sound. Things went smoothly yesterday. Heartland Spinal and Surgery Center was a great place to have this doe. Everyone was very nice and attentive and really knew what was going on! I am sore today, but glad that I have started this journey. I am having a hard time knowing how much to eat and drink. It seems even the littlest amount of liquid makes me full and a bit uncomfortable. I'm not sure I can get in all the liquid I am supposed to, but I sure will try! It is interesting for me to learn when to stop and for me to know when I am "satisfied" and not "full". Thanks for allof your warm wishes and encouragement!

Sorry I had to miss out on tonight as well. I will be able to make the next one, though! Keep in touch. My surgery is tomorrow morning. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes. I am nervous and excited all at the same time.

Thanks for the info, Ghost. My kids are 3,5, and 8, so that may work out. I'll try hard to make it, but if I miss this one, I'll be sure to make the next one. I did buy the grape flavored Isopure and plan on trying it tomorrow. I do have some Crystal Light that I can mix in. Thanks for the idea. One day of liquids almost done, and then just one more before surgery. I am so glad it is just 2 days! I'll keep you guys posted!

Great job so far, Teri. I start my liquids today, then I get banded on Tuesday. I can't believe it is really here! At what point after surgery does it get easier to get the liquids in? I'd also love to share and hear about what protein drinks are good and easy to take! I am starting off with trying the Isopure! I stocked up on sf popsicles after reading your post from a few days ago! I would like to try to make the meeting on Monday night, but only if my DH gets home in time to watch the kids. I would love to meet up with as many of you as I can. Keep in touch!

Congratulations! I have been thinking about you, Teri, and hoping things went well. I'll be right where you are 4 days from now! I start my pre op diet on Sunday, and then I'll get banded on Tuesday. Keep us posted!

    March 08 Banders?

What a coincidence! My surgery is also set for the 25th. It will be nice to keep in touch and follow up together. Good luck to you. I'm sure you are as excited as I am, and a bit nervous too!

Good news! I met with Dr. H and am set for surgery on March 25. I am so excited! I wanted to know about the options I have as far as the brand of bands. Do you guys have the Johnson and Johnson Realize band or the one from Allergan (LapBand AP?). Does anyone have any opinions or knowledge of differences between the 2? Dr. H said he uses both and will do whichever we prefer. I just thought I'd ask!

Diane, The support group definately sounds like a great idea. Is it open to pre bandsters as well? I can't make it tonight, but would definately be interested in future meetings. Thanks for letting us know.

Hello all. I just wanted to update you all on my progress, as I hope I am getting closer to being banded. I met with the dietician this week, who went over with me in great detail about all of the foods and protein supplements I can expect to be both able and unable to have. I will also meet with Dr. Sabapathy again this afternoon, so now I am waiting eagerly to hear from Dr. H's office to call me in. Hopefully then I can know my surgery date and be on my way. I come on this thread a lot and look forward to reading about all of your experiences and successes. If you all end up meeting up, I would love to join in and meet some people! Good luck to you all.

Do protein bars keep you full?

I havent checked the ingredient list on the slim fast protein bars, but I would guess that they have "high fructose corn syrup" in them. Countless studies have shown high fructose corn syrup to be an appetite stimulator. I would experiment with a "whole foods" type of protein bar, and see if that keeps you full longer.

Wheetsin, thanks for turning me onto this thread. I am happy to have found such a great group of people going through or who have gone through the process. I too have had my appt. with Sabapathy and will meet with the dietician this week. I am anxious to meet with Dr. H and find out when I can have the surgery. I also attended the support group last Thursday. Do any of you guys still attend?

Hi. I am new to the forum and had some questions. I have decided to use Dr. Hoehn who works through Shawnee Mission Medical Center. I am self pay, so I am not waiting on any insurance clearance. I have already gotten clearance from the psychologist and have an appt. set up for next week with the dietician. From your experience, how much time do you think I have left? I just am curious to know if you guys know about the process and what comes next.
