Hi I had my surgery on Dec 30, 2015 and I'm down 50 lbs I haven't had much support either. Most of my family/friends don't even know that I got surgery. I would like to make some friends from here too.

I use to have a skin condition similar to psoriasis that has cleared up completely due to a better diet, hormone balance, and overall effect of surgery.
In fact, one of my worst inflammation days was the actual DAY OF SURGERY. It was so embarrassing because it made my face terribly splotchy and I felt like the ugliest and fattest person on earth. Upon my release from the hospital two days later, the nurses were amazed how clear my face looked. It may have been just due to lowered anxiety and stress, but it has still never returned to this day.

Hey ladies..thanks for the feedback. I pretty much agree with every single one of you. A little about our background, we were friends for 3 1/2 yrs, bestfriends for 3. Yes i had feelings for him at some point, but did not pursure them because he was VERY immature. He is a year younger then me, but I thought he'd eventually grow out of that an when he didn't I kicked him to the curb. He got to a point he was ruining his own life, and yet causing ME stress. After that we didn't talk..its been a little over 2yrs since we've had contact. Admitedly in the past hes tried to date me, asked me out multiple times an admited to having strong feelings for me..but I told him we're at very different places in our lives. (Him being in that immature, stuck in the whole teens stage type of thing) I wanted to but I knew it wasn't the right thing for me. Now we're in waaaay diff places in our lives, and yes I agree..Its time for me to run the hell away. I care about him so much, and wish him the best. But I don't feel comfortable with a married man and father saying those things to me. I know I would be heartbroken if my future partner said things like this to someone else! an so thats why I'm chosing to walk away from the whole situation. Hes texted me twice today, I haven't yet responded because I don't exactly know how I'm going to word what I want to tell him. I do know I want to let him know I'll always be there for him, if he REALLY needs someone. But not when he has a wife, that could be there for him and give him what he needs. Anyway Thanks again girls.

Hello I just went to my first appointment to the bariatric clinic and start my 6 month diet process for insurance requirement tomorrow ..
With hopes to no complications in the process but i am willing to learn or hope to find people that are also just starting and maybe looking to chats about up coming events with the process ...I am very excited but feel very scared all at the same time any advice? thanks in advance

These 6 months feel like they're going to take forever. Everyone seems to be getting their surgery in the near future... And then there's me... Pushing November. I'm sad!!!
Anybody getting theirs around the end of the year at some point?
Here's to hoping these 6 months fly by and are full of growth and change to prepare for the rest of my new life!

Hello everyone! My name is Joye. I'm 23 and I have a son. I'm hoping to get gastric sleeve surgery. Tomorrow is the weight loss seminar that I have to attend in order to make an appointment with the doctor and I am so anxious/nervous/excited lol. I'm just ready to get the ball rolling. Hi, I do have some problems I do need to address, I agree. I am seeing a specialist for my psoriasis. I was on a very painful injectable for over a year that worked wonderfully before it just stopped working, I tried to go to ointments right now and it works ok on making the spots go away on my scalp but is not helping the spread on my body. It is a very stressful situation that very hard to treat and I'm starting to lose my fingernails as well. It is very frustrating to have a problem that is seemingly impossible to fix as I've been to many dermatologist. It makes me feel very helpless. As for a therapist I am definitely going to take you guys advice on it because I cannot handle the stress very well and it affects me very badly. I am half way through the 6 month weigh in for insurance purposes (I have Empire Plan). My BMI is right on the borderline of 40. At the last weigh in I dipped below the 40 BMI to 38.3. (I don't have any co-morbidities.. yet!) I was taking a super strong antibiotic for a sinus infection which wreaked havoc on my stomach, making it impossible to eat or stay out of the bathroom. I am more than positive the weight loss was purely Water because after weighing myself later that same day the scale was up the 9 lbs. I am so scared the insurance won't cover the surgery now. I have an appointment with the surgeon in April to discuss a plan of action, but I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issue and what the outcome was..

My doctor says my surgery should be in July. I started he process in late January. I have a 6 month waiting period for the insurance. This week will be my 3 dietician appointment out of the 6 I'm requird to have. I've already done my Psych and EGD. I have my sleep apnea test next week then I dont have anything else except dietician appts until the last 30 days.

Hello! I'm new here, but I'm due to have my surgery in June or July. They haven't given me a date yet. I was a social smoker, so I had to sign a 6 month Nicotine-free contract; everyone seems to be counting that 6 months differently though. I have monthly appointments with my physical therapist and my nutritionist. I had to take a couple of Nutrition classes, and will have one more the month before my surgery.
I enjoy reading everyone's comments, and it's nice to find a group that is having surgery at the same time!

Hi, I am new here too, I have Anthem and it also requires 6 month waiting/dieting period... so, we will probably be June or July sleeves =)

I know what you mean, I try to think of it as I spent most my life over weight I can wait another 6 months but it's hard to not have a little negativity, especially knowing the tricks insurance company's like to play!

Hello I am new to the forum. I am pretty worried about my insurance covering my surgery. I have Empire BCBS -NY- and I just did my seminar. My first consultation is Wednesday and I am very anxious. I did my first of six doctor visits needed for my insurance and I weighed in at 227 making me just above 40 BMI. My doctor has been very helpful and listed my comorbities as knee pain, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. I know my weight and comorbities should be enough but I don't know if it matters that although I do have high blood pressure and high cholesterol it's not high enough to the point that I need to take medication. Has anyone had a similar situation where they had comorbities that weren't severe enough for medications? Also I'm 21 years old.
