  1. @@anniebanana Exactly. It's a tool to help you lose but it's not gonna stop you from liking bacon egg and cheeses and pbjs you still need to have the will power to say no to those yourself. Personally I want to take advantage of it and try to move over to just generally healthier eating for life, not to eat the same way just smaller. To each their own I guess.

    Any August dates?

I'm August 9th. Super excited for it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I really don't know why people come here asking if they can eat silly things when they just got out of surgery and I'm pretty sure they got a pamphlet of information stating what they can and can not eat after surgery. Why come on a forum to ask opinions of people who you don't know if you won't even listen to your freaking doctors lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre surgery jitters

For the people who already had the surgery, did you have to get a urine test or blood test the day of your surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. It's the 8th of August so there's still time to fix it just in case. Your right though I probably shouldn't worry. It's dangerous for me to have access to my results before my doctor has a chance to tell me if there's actually a problem. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I had an issue like that but my coordinator assured me that it just has to show steady weight gain not that you just recently got overweight and decided to get wls. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'll try to be brief....I just need to vent

Some people say that I'm young and don't weigh enough to get the surgery but I'm doing it now to avoid ever being at that place and it's good that you did so too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Need advice ( off topic )

Honestly if someone can't make time for you within a month it's because he doesn't care enough too. Your better than that you can find someone who has time to support you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. My coordinator called me when the insurance company notified her which seemed to be almost immediately. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to tell you weather or not it was approved. I would call again and say you'd like to know the status of your pre authorization. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. It's been two days since my coordinator told me she had my paper work and I'm wondering for people who called their insurance company how long did it take for them to see that it was sent it. Obviously she's a busy lady and might not of submitted it yet but I'm curious and anxious. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fitbit goals!

My surgery is Aug 8th too! I really want to get the fitbit scale, my cousin told me how great it is. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App Oh boy were gonna be recovering together. I hope it's good because all my scales at home suck pretty bad. Question about weigh ins

Your doctor will most likely advise you to maintain your weight for six months. Insurance companies are often not helpful when telling you what you need so when you speak to your surgeons office they will give you what you need. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Newbie Questions

I am also a student and I started in January and my surgery date is August 8th so if you need to do the 6 month diet you can expect 6-7 months if things are done in a timely matter. Some insurances require no diet or 3-4 months so you might finish faster.

    Question about weigh ins

Personally i wasn't asked to get naked but I did have to take my shoes off.

    Trying to decide...

I decided to have the surgery after my mother got it and lost 100 pounds and kept it off for going on four years now. Most centers around me at least require you to attend a seminar before they make an appointment for you, it may be like that around you too. I don't personally have any of the weight related issues that you have but it very well may help them. It is a huge decision to make so you really need to think about it because it is a huge life change. My surgery is August 8 and I started my journey in January so you will have plenty time to think about it before you actually get the surgery.

New Here - Consult soon, hoping for good news

Yes - and I am preparing myself for the worst, but hoping for the best. I do hope that because it's a Bariatric Center vs. a normal hospital, they are willing to help me. I realize that insurance qualifications are what they are, but keeping my fingers crossed! It's always best to have hope and a good coordinator on your side. I agree that a bariatric center is much better in terms of insurance approval because many times if your in a good place the coordinators are specially trained to obtain approvals because they want your money:). Also if your insurance has centers of excellence definitely go to them. It makes a difference! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hello.. Anybody out there?

Normally you can't appeal if it's an exclusion but many insurance reps are not knowledgeable in the matter. I called three times and every time I got a different answer one lady even saying it is completely not covered because it's "cosmetic". But low and behold I have been approved. It may be best to see a surgeon and speak with their insurance coordinator to see if it's actually excluded. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Peer-to-Peer tomorrow

Many many people get approved after being denied first and usually peer to peer works very well in that case. I really hope you get approved. Let us know. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

New Here - Consult soon, hoping for good news

Normally under 40 with no comorbities will be denied but if you don't try you will never know and the doctors and coordinators may be able to help you through the hoops. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fitbit goals!

I am having my surgery August 8th and my birthday is 2 days after that so I told my fiancé that I wanted a Fitbit and the Fitbit scale to go with it for my birthday. They look like they are a great source of motivation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
