  2. Re-positioned 7/9. First goal is to get back under 300... for good this time. Then to get back down to 284 by September for a wedding I am going to. That will be 100 pounds lost. Again. For good this time.

In Case Of Emergency ..fill Band

I understand where you are coming from too... but why have surgery then? You are basically on a diet right now. Kudos to you for your weight loss so far!! But what happens when you lose momentum? Start gaining? Will you use your band then? Don't be afraid to use your band because of stories of people being too tight and vomitting. Or stories of people abusing their bands. Make a conscious decision to keep your band loser then. But use it!!! Don't struggle anymore than you have to!! The last few months before I had my hernia fixed I kept my band on the loose side out of necessity. I had to work a teensy bit harder... but it helped control over eating, kept me full longer, and I only PB'd once in that timeframe because I stupidly took too big of a bite and didn't chew it well enough. I do better with my band a little loose. I can get in healthy foods in moderation. I lost 25 pounds after having been gaining or stalled for quite awhile. As long as you stay aware and stay conservative... you can use your band and avoid tightness, PB'ing, etc. Unfortunately some people want the band to do all the work... and that is when some issues can pop up. They cinch it tighter and tighter and then are surprised when they have problems. It sounds like you area making smart food choices... wouldn't it be nice to keep doing the same and not get hungry between meals? That is what a properly filled band should do for you. I say use your tool. I don't think you can "save" it by just letting it sit there.
  4. OH can be quite anti-band. It is hard to stay positive after a trip there. I have not had a pregnancy.. but I do know several bandsters who have had successful pregnancys after banding. I got banded myself in hopes of being able to get pregnant after losing weight. it is absolutely possible to have a healthy successful pregnancy while banded. Some people empty their bands so they can eat more to accommodate pregnancy. Some find they don't have to make any adjustments. I know there are some threads on here about it. Good luck with your decision.
  5. My surgery was on 7/9 and I gained 7 pounds of IV Fluid /gas. I am finally back down to pre surgery weight... but just barely. Right now is the time to focus on healing. Don't stress about the scale.

    Liquids......?

Are you pre or post surgery? That makes a difference. Headache may be caffeine withdrawal? Make sure you stay hydrated!! Lots and lots of Water. Pre surgery I did two Protein shakes and lean protein with veggie for dinner. Post surgery I am currently on full liquids. Premixed Protein drinks, protein smoothies, broth, skimmed Soups... basically anything that will go up a straw (but don't use a straw!).

    Doing Something Wrong?

I had surgery on 7/9 and I still have no hunger. Enjoy it while it lasts!! I too am "forcing" myself to drink protein shakes and liquids.

    Post Lap Band Diet

It is a Chinese soup. Basically egg and cabbage in a medium thickness broth. The Chinese place near me put peas, carrots, and other goodies in it too. So strained it has a lot of flavor.

    Constipation

Just had a cherry and banana protein smoothie. I am no longer waiting for liftoff. Woot! Haha.

Has Anyone Read The Posts On OH?

I stick to LBT mostly now. I am all for sharing experiences and being honest... heck, I have had my fair share of complications... but there are respectful ways to get your story/experience out there. I feel that board is overwhelmingly hostile at times.

    Is This Normal??

Drinking water should not cause damage. I don't sip... But I don't gulp either.

    July 9Th Bandsters....

Wow.. so many differing postop diets. I wasn't sure if he was being more lenient since my band was repositioned vs new band... but perhaps things have changed that much since I was first banded. Either way, I plan on taking things super slow. Staying on liquids until week 2... then I will switch to puree. Week 3 I will switch to soft foods... week 4 normal food. Still no hunger!! YAY! I even made my friend and hubby cupcakes tonight and I was NOT tempted. Craziness because my cupcakes are GOOD! lol. I am still waiting for a bowel movement... anything would be nice. Lol. Stomach is so freaking gassy from all these liquids.
  13. Ugh... I am super super gassy and bloated right now too. Every time I drink a beverage I just want to get it to work it's way out!! Otherwise I feel great. I don't remember the gassy belly from last time. And this is not the gas from surgery... that went away already.
  14. Sorry for your losses. It took me a few years to finally focus on me. Sounds like you are there. Like another poster mentioned... it takes a lot of work, make sure your brain is on board!!

    Reflux And Surgery

My hiatal hernia wasn't diagnosed with an upper GI. They did an EGD to diagnose it. I would ask. If some of your surgery might be covered it is worth a shot.

    July 9Th Bandsters....

I am feeling really good. I have a friend visiting in town so we went sightseeing yesterday which wore me out a little. Especially since it is over 100 degrees in Tucson and I am struggling to get all my liquids in. I have noooo hunger. Cooked dinner for hubby and friend last night and was not the least bit tempted. Gosh I love that feeling!! Lol. Hope it sticks around for awhile. Some achyness in chest when I breathe deep... from the hiatal hernia fix. And man... I had to sneeze... THAT HURT. LOL. What kind of post-op diet are you guys on? My surgeon said 2 days liquids, 2 days mushies, 2 days soft foods, and then I can move on to normal food. I feel that is waaaay too leanient so I am following a more strict post-op diet of 2 weeks liquids, 1 week mushies, and 1 week soft foods.

    Post Lap Band Diet

Had my band repositioned on the 9th and strained egg drop soup IS heavenly. So much better than beef broth. Yuck. Luckily I'm not hungry, so mostly just drinking protein shakes and water.

    Tucson people?

Feeling even better today. Until I had a sneezing fit. OUCH!! Lol. No hunger, no desire to eat. Forcing liquids down. I love this no hunger. Wish it would last forever. I have pictures from my surgery on my blog. My surgeon made copies for me. Pretty cool.

    Tucson people?

I'm doing good. Just had my hiatal hernia and band repositioning surgery yesterday. Just chilling out and healing. Avoiding the scale for a few days until all the IV fluids leave my body. Haha.
