  1. So Iโ€™m sitting here 13 days PO and I keep having these recurring thoughts of โ€œwhat if my bypass just doesnโ€™t work...?โ€ Irrational, I know. Iโ€™m not talking about losing the weight and regaining. I mean straight up NOT losing anything ever. That doesnโ€™t happen, right? I have no complications, no pain, I can drink and take my supplements with no issue. That scares me too. Like, I thought this was supposed to be hard. If I didnโ€™t see the scars on my belly I would second guess that I ever had surgery. ๐Ÿ˜•

some plans allow for it. Lots don't, but some do. Some surgeons want their patients following ultra low-carb diets; others recommend more balanced diets. Mine was one of the latter, but I tended to go lower carb than what his clinic recommended.

Yeah itโ€™s on my list as OK, but I have so much guilt I canโ€™t even deal LOL I think Iโ€™ll be avoiding until I get to the store for the alternative ๐Ÿ˜‹

That's so funny that you mention this because on Friday I went out and bought some Atkins Plus Protein Shakes because they have 30 g of Protein (my GNC ones has 25 g) and 7 g of Fiber (my GNC ones have 3 g of fiber) and wanted to see if the extra Fiber was beneficial. I don't know the results yet as I've only tried one shake so far.

    Great minds think alike, girl!

I had a Think Thin Protein Bar ( at least 12 grams of fiber) I was sick as a DOG.. the only thing I could think of was it had to have been the fiber.. I try to keep the fibers grams no more than 5 a meal till I know I can handle it because eventually I will need the fiber when I maintain ( fiber makes you feel fuller) .

Sick like nausea or the other end? That sounds awful :(

  5. Anyone else feel guilty eating mashed potatoes in the purรฉe stage? Prior to surgery I was strict Keto for 2 years and potatoes were like a deadly sin LOL Next weeks grocery run I think I'll be grabbing some mashed cauliflower...until then, the real thing wonโ€™t hurt since the quantity is so small, right? (like 2 tbsp)

MFP - pre sets it. My Fiber is at 25grams.

Bariatistic is another option for a food log. Are you doing a log by hand or Not logging?

For the past year Iโ€™ve used the Atkins app to log food. Since I just started purรฉe (13 days PO) Iโ€™m starting to log again. Wasnโ€™t bothering the past couple weeks. 25g sounds good. I did a little reading after my initial post and that amount matches up with the info I found ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

This didn't happen to me but I am a surgical nurse. I wouldn't worry about it just yet. You can go ahead and talk to your surgeon about it but ultimately your anesthesiologist will decided whether or not your lungs are in good condition for general anesthesia. I hope it clears up soon! When is your surgery?

Thatโ€™s reassuring! Surgery is next Tuesday the 14th.

  8. Last Thursday I had a scratchy sore throat for a couple days. It went away. Figured it was allergies. Yesterday I started constant sneezing and no allergy meds in my arsenal would fix it. This morning I have crap in my chest, a slight cough and still a sneezing with a runny nose. No fever. This is NOT ideal for the week before surgery! liquid diet starts today and Pre-op Appointment is tomorrow. Last thing I need is a stupid cold to postpone surgery plus my medical leave is all set up with HR. Waiting to hear from my surgeon about what they want me to do. Anyone else get a cold right before surgery?
